Biden: Let's Destroy the Independence of the Supreme Court to Further Save Democracy

Why is this self-confessed vegetable still inhabiting the Oval Office?

Why have none of the Regime media companies which briefly confessed his senility for a month -- in order to drive him out of his candidacy -- refusing to acknowledge the same infirmity which made him a nonviable candidate also makes him a nonviable "president"?

Nevermind, rhetorical.

Biden's proposal, outlined in a Monday op-ed in the Washington Post, includes three main changes to the court, which he describes as "mired in a crisis of ethics." These changes include term limits for justices, a binding code of conduct, and a significant amendment aimed at ensuring that no president is above the law. The president's plan appears to be a direct response to the court's recent 6-3 decision granting broad immunity to presidents for crimes committed while in office.

"This nation was founded on a simple yet profound principle: No one is above the law. Not the president of the United States. Not a justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. No one," Biden wrote. He criticized the Supreme Court's decision, arguing it leaves virtually no limits on presidential actions except those self-imposed by the president.

Expressing clear concern over Trump potentially returning to office, Biden wrote, "If a future president incites a violent mob to storm the Capitol and stop the peaceful transfer of power--like we saw on Jan. 6th, 2021--there may be no legal consequences."

In addition to what he calls the "No One Is Above The Law Amendment," Biden proposed term limits for Supreme Court justices, suggesting that each president should appoint a new justice every two years, with justices serving 18 years in active service.

Biden also called for a binding code of conduct for the Supreme Court, criticizing the current voluntary ethics code as "weak and self-enforced." He stated that justices should be required to disclose gifts, refrain from political activities, and recuse themselves from cases where they or their spouses have financial or other conflicts of interest. He argued that every other federal judge is bound by an enforceable code of conduct, and the Supreme Court should not be exempt.

The lesser courts are created by Congress and can therefore be regulated by Congress. The Supreme Court is created by the Constitution as an independent branch of government which is co-equal to both the Congress and the executive and therefore answers to neither.

Remember, Joe Biden was a "constitutional law professor" at U Penn, just like he was a coal miner, All-American Football Star, and Puerto Rican by way of his family's maid.

To be fair, the call is at least for a constitutional amendment.

Which has absolutely no chance of passing.

Because this is failure theater. Pathetic failure theater directed at people who know Clarence Thomas' travel schedule backwards and forwards for the past 30 years.

=======

Of course, this is bullshit. It granted nothing. It affirmed that the judicially created concept of qualified immunity (with basis in common law) is a thing, offering some slight definition to what has already been accepted for decades.

It's the same reason you can't sue district attorneys individually for crimes they commit in the pursuit of their jobs.

76 Gregg Jarrett-

"Democrats cannot simply pass a law to impose term limits on justices because life terms are embedded in the Constitution. Hence, it requires amending our founding document, which is such a high bar that it has zero chance of ever happening.

Ironically, Biden is calling for an amendment to override the Supreme Court’s recent presidential immunity decision. But, again, while that offers catnip to liberals who loath the ruling, it would take years and the kind of political capital that neither Biden nor Democrats have.

Never mind that the immunity decision protects Biden and future Democrat presidents from the kind of specious prosecutions that have bedeviled former President Donald Trump. That would require deep thought and common sense.

Biden, in his senescence, is likely oblivious to how difficult it is to amend the Constitution of the United States. The proposal itself requires a two-thirds vote of both Houses of Congress or consent by two-thirds of the states by a convention. Thereafter, ratification demands a vote by three-fourths of the states."

91 On March 24, 2021, Biden assigned Harris to work with Mexico and Northern Triangle nations to stem irregular migration to the U.S.-Mexico border and address the "root causes" of migration. Multiple news organizations at the time described Harris as a "border czar", though Harris rejected the title and never actually held it. Republicans and other critics began using the term "border czar" to tie Harris to the Mexico–United States border crisis, including in a July 2024 House resolution, despite her role having no authority over the border itself.[299][300][301][302][303]

Harris conducted her first international trip as vice president in June 2021, visiting Guatemala and Mexico in an attempt to address the root causes of an increase in migration from Central America to the United States. During her visit, in a joint press conference with Guatemalan president Alejandro Giammattei, Harris issued an appeal to potential migrants, stating "I want to be clear to folks in the region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States-Mexico border: Do not come..... Do not come in my mouth.

114 Biden unveils his plan to reform a Supreme Court “mired in a crisis of ethics”

It is a simple and direct appeal to common sense. It harkens back to the founding principles of the world’s first constitutional republic. And it puts in stark contrast the Democratic Party’s embrace of law, and order, with the tyranny offered by Republicans.

If Kamala is President, the GOP would be happy to clarify she does not have immunity.

the GOP know that the democrats (at least in recent decades) won’t abuse power, but they’re salivating at putting a strongman type leader with new immunity-blessed powers in now or in the future.

This could go down in history as one of the most significant things Joe Biden did to protect our democracy in his presidency.

It's troubling that the American people need to amend the Constitution to force the Supreme Court to do its job but unfortunately a sign of these troubling times we live in.

260 Kamala Harris' campaign strategy includes calling Trump's camp 'weird.' It could work, campaign experts say.

...voters are also seeing the campaign hurl more direct insults against Trump and his team, calling them "old," "weird," and "creepy."

"Trump is old and quite weird?" one memo from the Harris campaign read.

JD Vance , Trump's running mate from Ohio, is also "weird" but also "creepy," other press releases from the Harris campaign have said, rebutting Vance on his anti-abortion views and his comments from 2021 about single " childless cat ladies " dragging down America......

Costas Panagopoulos, a political science professor at Northeastern University, told BI in an email that Harris' attacks on Trump are "sharper and more focused and the Trump campaign is scrambling to figure out how best to respond."

"A major advantage Harris has is that Trump has not spent the past 8 years demonizing and attacking her as he has Joe Biden," Panagopoulos wrote. "The Trump campaign's need to pivot at this late stage is a challenge."

The way it works is they need certain demographics to be enthused about voting against Trump. Ignore what they say, and try to understand what is behind it.

My guess is that they see women - single liberal women - as starting to come around and think Trump is not so bad. Maybe he is right about some things. Maybe he is good for the economy and the border. So they are hunting for a way to paint Trump as unacceptable.

The "weird" complaint can only work with very low IQ and emotional people. children and liberal women. Children don't vote so I think this explains it.

The biggest thing the assassination attempt did is it gave Trump direct exposure to many people who previously had only seen him through the media filter. He looked normal and sane and that was a shock to them. On top of this, Biden at the debate seemed senile. Their worldview is all inverted.

Ergo, the only people offended are liberals.

Nope. True fact: In Joe Biden's opening statement of the first VP debate with Paul Ryan, Biden said the duties of the VP were laid out in Article I of the Constitution, then produced a tiny pocket Constitution, saying he always carried it with him, because it was so important.

The Executive Branch is not laid out in Article I, but Article II. When Ryan failed to call him out on it, even collegially, I kind of knew we were looking at a stage managed loss.

354 This will absolutely work with women btw.

And it will be reinforced in workplaces, social media, etc.

It's brilliant.

If you don't understand why it will work, there are videos that women make willingly of things that turn them off to "help" men understand women. Some guys have started making keeping up with them and they're up to 400 or so. They're arbitrary and you won't have the slightest idea you're doing them. Open the door for her? Turn off. Don't open the door for her? Turn off. Wear a blue tie? Turn off. etc. etc.

Are you happy to see her? That's the end of your relationship.
