FBI Director: The Assassin's Gun Was Legally Bought and Then Sold to Him

In a testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed that Thomas Crooks' family had over a dozen firearms in their Bethel Park, Pennsylvania home. Fox News reported that Matthew Crooks, Thomas' father, legally sold the AR-style rifle to his son, which was later used in the assassination attempt on former President Trump. "We located a number of firearms associated with the shooter and his family," Wray stated, noting there were a total of 14 guns in the house. "The weapon that he used for the attempted assassination was an AR-style rifle that was purchased legally," Wray added. "We believe, based on what we've seen, that his father, after purchasing the gun, legally sold the gun to his son." ... Thomas Crooks was described as a "fairly avid shooting enthusiast" by Wray during his testimony. In addition to the AR-15 and magazines for the rifle, law enforcement found a bulletproof vest and crude explosive devices in his car after he was neutralized by a Secret Service sniper. The FBI director mentioned that the agency is still searching for a manifesto or other writings that could shed light on the 20-year-old Crooks' motive.
... "The attempted assassination of the former president was an attack on our democracy," Wray emphasized on Wednesday, acknowledging the significant public and congressional interest in the case. He noted that the FBI has already conducted over 400 interviews as part of their extensive investigation.

The media will try to make Kamala the new Obama 2008, but there are factors working against them that they can't fix.
Such as: In 2008, people were exhausted by Bush in general, Iraq in particular, and Republicans sort of got swept up in that all around, especially once the housing bubble broke.

I suspect that the parents know a whole lot more about their kid and his plans than we are being told. That's why they deemed this a domestic terrorist crime. If someone is convicted of helping him in any way they can get 30 years in prison. They did that to make this guy keep his mouth shut.

The only way to protect a republican, conservative or anyone not a prog is to start arresting and charging these mentally ill people. If you won’t recognize that they are mentally ill, some needing more than treatment/medication, needing lifetime mental health incarceration this will continue to happen. I might add protecting school children from a mentally ill tranny in Nashville TN. As we all know it’s not the gun, knife, bomb or car/truck that commits murder it’s the mentally ill or evil person. I still struggle on how you can differentiate between the two.

Certainly they had a "Stand Down" hand in it, the rest is protected by the "Our Precious Sources and Methods" and "Can't ever comment on an ongoing investigation" clauses of the constitution.

If you want to split hairs. Technically, the adjustable stock, etc. make it more an M4gery after the technical package of adjustments to the M-16 A2 into a short barrel carbine with an adjustable stock and removing the carry handle completely from the older AR designs.
In part, it was to make the original AR design more suitable for urban combat and to ease getting in and out of transport with minimal effects on its short range lethality.
Has some issues due to changes in the original design and since this is not a gun thread, not worthy of further discussion.

If the rifle was bought during the 2013 panic as seems likely, even if it was some shit brand it was probably $1300-2000 bucks when the dad bought it.
Even with inflation, perhaps because of it and prices not catching up, we are still in the golden age of cheap AR's. A cheap AR 15 years ago was a total piece of shit. Now you can get one for $500 that actually works fine and shoots straight, albeit a bit rough around the edges.

It seems to sound like the officer who was supposed to be on the roof had come down because it was hot up there and to look for a suspicious character (Crooks) seen near the building, whereupon Crooks used a ladder he brought with him to go up to an empty roof.
From there, I surmise that the rest of the security staff (drawn from multiple organizations) probably thought Crooks was the person assigned to cover the roof (explains why nobody got concerned that people were pointing to a guy on the roof and the reaction of the sharpshooter visible behind Trump) ... until he started shooting at the stage where Trump was speaking.

This would have created a market glut at the time the business cycle collapsed, and the moves to destroy food and restrict production by udoing the supply side of the business cycle

The severe contraction post WWI resulted from a collapse in foreign markets for the US and a domestic collapse in war demand from Uncle Sam. As the economy shifted back to more normality by ending war production, Harding benefitted over the Dems and it was relatively short lived. The Fed did nothing much during that crash.
But, post 1929, they did and they screwed the pooch. I happen to like Silent Cal and for the most part he was a decent president as Harding really was (apart from Albert Falls as Sec. of Interior). But neither Cal or Harding did anything to prevent the market crash of 29 from coming.

They way the system had been leveraged to support economies in the depression following wwI, the massive dislocation of capital during and after the war, the political chaos everywhere as the victors played Napoleon with the world made it a disaster waiting to happen. If it hadn't been protective tariffs, (admittedly they were one of the sparks of the Civil war, too) it would have been Weimar reoccupation of Schleswig-Holstein or the Gran Chaco war.
