“Our fellow Americans, I’m speaking to you tonight from behind the Resolute desk in the Oval Office,” Biden began, his black and unblinking eyes fixed on the camera. “This sacred space is surrounded by portraits of extraordinary American presidents.” He listed Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt, none of whom would have had anything to do with him — even corrupt FDR. It’s ironic that Biden highlighted Lincoln, who was hated by the Democrats of his day and assassinated for supporting a policy the Democrats opposed (civil rights for black Americans). Biden claimed, “I revere this office, I love my country more. It’s been the honor of my life to serve as your president, but in the defense of democracy, which is at stake, I think it’s more important than any title.” Leaving that sentence apparently unfinished, the obviously weak president babbled, “I draw strength and I find joy from working for the American people. But this sacred task, perfecting our union, it’s not about me. It's about you … about We the People.” He claimed to have never forgot that, and rambled, “America is at an inflection point, one of those rare moments in history when the decisions we make now determine our fate of our nation and the world for decades to come.” Without once denouncing pro-Hamas leftists currently destroying monuments and burning flags in D.C., he called for a choice between “hope and hate, between unity and division,” and for “honesty, decency, respect, freedom, justice and democracy.” . . . Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu is in America now, but Biden didn’t mention our ally Israel at all, referring to “the war in Gaza” and the Hamas hostages (without mentioning Hamas). “We've come so far since my inauguration,” he alleged, before launching into a completely incomprehensible blather: “On that day, I told you as I stood in that winter, we stood in a winter apparel. And when our possibilities —parallel possibilities were in the grip of the —we were in the grip of the worst pandemic and essentially the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. The worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.” According to Biden, “We emerged stronger and more prosperous and more secure. Today we have the strongest economy. … Wages are up. Inflation continues to come down. … Manufacturing has come back to America we’re leading the world again, in chips and science and innovation. We finally beat Big Pharma.” This is all nonsense, but would have sounded good had someone mentally competent been saying it. Biden ended by mentioning veterans and “the most significant climate law ever, ever in the history of the world” and falsely saying “the violent — violent crime rate is at a 50 year low. We're also securing our border.” Actually, the border crisis continues at dangerously high levels. Biden bragged about appointing a black woman to the Supreme Court, and claimed “I ran for President four years ago because I believed in still doing that the soul America is at stake, the very nature of who we are is at stake. That's still the case. America is an idea. An idea is stronger than any armory, bigger than any ocean, more powerful than any dictator or tyrant. It’s more powerful than any idea in the history of the world.”

Apparently Harris is courting the American Hamas voting block. Democrats who did attend made it clear in numerous ways that they oppose the right of Israel and Jews to exist and that they support Hamas’ murder of women, children and babies, though of course they couched their statements in cute ways filled with lies in order to give themselves plausible deniability. For example, Nancy Pelosi said this: "Benjamin Netanyahu’s presentation in the House Chamber today was by far the worst presentation of any foreign dignitary invited and honored with the privilege of addressing the Congress of the United States.Many of us who love Israel spent time today listening to Israeli citizens whose families have suffered in the wake of the October 7th Hamas terror attack and kidnappings. These families are asking for a ceasefire deal that will bring the hostages home – and we hope the Prime Minister would spend his time achieving that goal." She “loves Israel” like a vulture likes carrion. She claims all she wants was a ceasefire in Gaza to get the remaining hostages back, but in truth this is merely a cover for her desire to save the terrorist organization Hamas from complete destruction. . . . . . if these pro-Hamas rioters vote, we all know that their vote will be for a Democrat. This is the armed and violent wing of the Democratic Party. Previously it rioted under the name of Occupy Wall Street. Then it rioted under the name of BLM. Then it did it under the name of Antifa. Now it is doing it in the name of Hamas. The names might change, but the goals are all the same: instill fear in anyone who opposes the Democratic Party, and push that party in a more radical and very tyrannical direction. The events in Washington in the past 24 hours in response to the arrival of the leader of Israel illustrates this forcefully.And all over DC, the Einsatz-groupies of Hamas were burning US flags and draping monuments in the "palestinian" rag.

It's one thing to run around parkour style shooting st paper targets that don't shoot back.
Try those moves when someone is shooting back at you. I found that out the easy way by playing paintball. Those moves you thought would work?

China has been probing around Alaska too. I think they had a couple warships trolling about a year or so ago. It's pretty far for aircraft, but still closer than, say buzzing the west coast.

It was a speech by a hostage allowed some free rein. It was Joe telling everyone, especially the DNC putschists, he is still The Best Candidate in the 2024 race. Ninety percent of the speech was his standard stump speech of late. He added some stuff he intends to do in his last six months - Cancer Moon Shot! I think he planned to put those items in the Party Platform and in his fall campaign stump speech and ads.
He was forced out of the Dem candidate slot using threats beyond his ability to counter or resist. But he will not go totally silent about what he believes - his unique and all-seeing ability to lead and to remake the nation, along with being the only person who can beat Trump in November. There's a video on YouTube where a CIA "disguise expert" (a woman) demonstrates the agency's masking technology for going under-cover.
It's astonishingly realistic. I can't recall if the mask covers the ears though, but it would make sense to in order to hide differences in ear shape that would potentially be noticed.

My immediate reaction was just sadness. Because when he speaks of the optimism he has around the American people, he means it. Despite everything he accomplished, despite everything we’ve been through in the last 3 1/2 years, America looked at him and decided he couldn’t win. Yet his optimism perseveres. Fucking heartbreaking.
He was pulled down by a bunch of America’s not-great-at-all-when-the-chips-are-down humans. And in two years’ time people will be making all kinds of excuses for retaining his saboteurs in office.
The fucking media is never satisfied. Ratings you know. They’ll be looking for the next scalp soon, watch out Harris. They don’t say hardly anything about Trump, but they will nitpick any Democrat to death. Fuck them.

Maybe. I would doubt it. The disparity is so huge that it would be hard to swallow even for an American family court. Even a Californian family court will have trouble with it.

I suspect that the key problem, though, is that judges aren't great. They're not even good. The break for the Party with depressing frequency. Nothing like a comfortable little permanent position with some power to wreck a person. Lifetime appointments are a terrible idea.

The wok entertainment media (they're as bad as sports writers) and ever more woke gossip bloggers hounded Swift for years. They speculated all sorts of terrible things, such as that she was a super-secret Nazi princess, because she 'refused to denounce her white supremist fans. She was targeted because she was so popular -- they needed her to publicly embrace wokeness, and sadly, she did.
Politics-spouting celebrities are annoying, and there are many that are obnoxiously outspoken. However, the media demands all of them go on record on the latest politics (it could be a Vogue interview and they push for a statement on abortion or Ukraine, whatever). I appreciate the ones who actively resist.

Not entirely. I'm not *that* jaded - yet. I do think it is generally excessive, but if you're actually treating marriage as the biggest conscious decision of your life that will last the rest of your life, putting some money in and making it nice is understandable - within reason.
If you're engaging in excess that eats the future you're supposed to be building together, it's insane. "I demand a $25k engagement ring" is a bad, reckless attitude. So is, "I'll give you a $25k engagement ring."
