Forty Eight Hours After Demanding That Republicans "Lower the Temperature," Biden's Back to Calling Trump an Existential Threat to the Country
According to a report by the New York Post, President Biden's re-election campaign chair, Jen O'Malley Dillon, criticized Donald Trump on Monday, claiming Trump selected Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his running mate because Vance would enable Trump's extreme agenda, even if it meant breaking the law. This fierce attack came just hours after Biden's Oval Office address, where he called for lowering the temperature in political discourse. In that address, Biden emphasized the need for political calm and unity, stating, "My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the need for us to lower the temperature in our politics and to remember, while we may disagree, we are not enemies." This appeal for civility was a stark contrast to the aggressive rhetoric that followed from his campaign. Was one who commented 2 of the women on the detail (remained at the vehicles, I think) were a mess. BTW, I'm a woman & can recognize at least those 2 were trainees or transfers.
Taking trainees (even new 'journeyman level' personnel who have come onboard from other agencies or companies) out "to the field" is necessary so they build practical job experience, in addition to their academic degree(s) & valid driver's license.

I've been watching this retail politics for a long time. The Democrats have been ratcheting up the rhetoric consistently. It was pretty standard boilerplate, mostly, with some exceptions until 2000 and Bush V. Gore. That seemed to really get them and the media in a lather.
The outright demagoguery is relatively recent. And as I mentioned, how do you walk this stuff back? "You're all worse than Hitler!" and "Best wishes for a speedy recovery" and the rest of it.

Yeah, there's a lot of things that have gone on - not just this event - that incompetence and dumb luck just don't explain.
The Francis Scott Key bridge comes to mind as another example. That sort of thing really can't happen - it had to have been hacked. The question is whether it was the good guys doing it (because of a "Sum of All Fears" situation), or bad guys. Ukrainians were driving that thing, after all. And the cops just happened to be RIGHT THERE to shut down traffic?

Enough lower courts will ignore it (certainly in blue jurisdictions), some circuit courts will too, it will take years (decades?) to get back to the SC, and then no matter what the SC says, that will be ignored too. Literally exactly what's happening in blue cities with the 2A decisions. NYC has gun laws still on its books -- that its enforcing -- that could not more clearly be illegal and unconstitutional under the last two or three 2A decisions. No matter.

I watched Obama's 2004 DNC speech live, the one that catapulted him to stardom. And remember vividly the comment he made about how there are not red states or blue states, but red white and blue states. It was, of course, a slickly crafted lie; he never felt or believed it for a moment. But he knew what to say to get people to rally around him, and start soft launching his campaign for POTUS.
Trump actually believes it, though. I hope he has some amazing lines in his speech, and convinces the fence sitters to unify and to vote for him.
And I hope the DNC is full of scared fearmongers, who focus their whole convention on Trump being evil, than what they will actually do to unite and help the country they have destroyed.

He was just unlucky it was filmed, the video got traction on SM, and he's a back-bencher at best so his "talent" agent knew he was expendable.
