Is This Something?

Pardon the very weak blogging. I went out over the weekend and of course caught a cold.

M. Night Shyamalan can't fool me any longer. Neither can Kevin Smith.

It's all remakes, reboots, sequels and prequels:

Another Hellboy sequel or reboot or whatever.

This looks terrible: Time Bandits remake. And of course, they can't give dwarves jobs because... giving dwarves jobs would be anti-dwarf?

The new Alien movie, Romulus, looks like they spent a ton on it. But is a haunted house movie the best use of a ton of money? I dunno.

Deadpool & Wolverine made $210 million in North America on its first four days of release. Woke movie critics have only one complaint: Why didn't Wolverine and Deadpool have gay sex together?

Another season of We Wuz Rangz. This time, with a romance between Guyladrial and Sauron. Great, the shippers wanted it, so of course the shippers get it.

It will also have gay characters, because of course.

During a Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, actor Charlie Vickers, who plays Sauron, alongside showrunners Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, as well as Galadriel actress Morfydd Clark were asked if the show's second season would feature more of the romance between Galadriel and Sauron that the first season showed.

Vickers responded, "I think there is hope. ... What can we say?" McKay then encourages him, "Say it! Say it!"

Vickers then states, "Yeah, I think we will."

To be clear, Galadriel never had any kind of romantic relationship with Sauron in J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium given she was married to Celeborn. In The Silmarillion, Tolkien wrote, "A queen she was of the woodland Elves, the wife of Celeborn of Doriath, yet she herself was of the Noldor and remembered the Day before days in Valinor, and she was the mightiest and fairest of all the Elves that remained in Middle-earth."

Furthermore, he made it clear that Galadriel was Sauron's "chief adversary and obstacle" during the Second Age in Eregion. He wrote in Unfinished Tales, "In Eregion Sauron posed as an emissary of the Valar, sent by them to Middle-earth ("thus anticipating the Istari") or ordered by them to remain there to give aid to the Elves. He perceived at once that Galadriel would be his chief adversary and obstacle, and he endeavoured therefore to placate her, bearing her scorn with outward patience and courtesy."

Not only will the second season foster a romance between Sauron and Galadriel, but showrunner Patrick McKay seemingly confirmed that the show features LGBTQ+ characters.

When asked if there would be LGBT characters in the show, McKay said, "Maybe you have already."

Great.

So much Gay Representation in Groomer Disney's upcoming show Agatha it'll make you sick.

I get the sense that it's effectively an adaptation of the game Alien Isolation.

I'm gonna go. Dolley bought me a one movie a month subscription to a theater, and it seems prime.

I'll probably see Trap over Deadpool first, though.

26 If it's Alien Isolation on the big screen, then that will actually be pretty good, or it could be. That's a legendary game.

Who is in control of Tolkien's works? Are they even trying to pretend they are remaining faithful to the canon? And why aren't Tolkien's heirs putting a stop to this?

Even in-universe it makes no sense. Manwe would have removed Galadrial in a heartbeat if she was falling for Sauron.

It's not like she didn't know better! She knew all of the Gods personally! So did her husband!

Yes, there was a Maia-elf romance, but it was rather tragic as I recall. Wasn't it Thingol and Melian? I think so.

28 Used to be maybe 2% at most, of the population was gay. With all the grooming and the praising of how awesome anal sex is ... maybe the number is now ? 3%.

Yet Hollywood must have 20-35% gay characters? It is an anti-family agenda, which is also anti-society. Normal people were very tolerant, but the activist gays are haters, and they want your children for sex, and as punishment for Christians being Christian.

Christopher Tolkien safeguarded his father's legacy for decades. He was not a fan of Peter Jackson's adaptation of LOTR and became very protective.

The Tolkien Estate sold part of the rights to Amazon as soon as Christopher died (Saul Zaentz owns the rest, the ones that Jackson used).

36 This will absolutely work with women btw.

And it will be reinforced in workplaces, social media, etc.

It's brilliant.

If you don't understand why it will work, there are videos that women make willingly of things that turn them off to "help" men understand women. Some guys have started making keeping up with them and they're up to 400 or so. They're arbitrary and you won't have the slightest idea you're doing them. Open the door for her? Turn off. Don't open the door for her? Turn off. Wear a blue tie? Turn off. etc. etc.

Established IPs with built-in fanbases are lower risk exercises for tentpole features. When there is a guaranteed audience, there is much less potential capital risk over tentpole-scale expenditures and tentpoles are all we make anymore, we need to be better safe than sorry.

The established fanbases will *always* show up, so it's a no-brainer to stick with major franchises no matter what.

Anything updating an old movie or TV show is doomed to be awful. AXEL F terrible. COBRA KAI terrible. The nostalgia factor can only get you so far.

It's too bad because there could be interesting ways of continuing the stories of classics (a la THE HUSTLER/THE COLOR OF MONEY), but Hollywood can't or won't do it anymore.

Arm and Hammer makes one of the better pressured throwaway types that are more hygenic than netti pots. CVS and Walgreens have knockoffs.

If you keep getting colds, chest infections, etc., you might find out, like I did during the time of covid that you have IGG subtype deficiency which is generally genetic in origin. Overall numbers can look fine but there are four subtypes to your immune system and a persistent deficiency in IGG3 can lead to perpetually lower resistance to airborne infections. IGG4 is one of the subtypes that the RNA messenger type Covid vaxxes used to prevent the a heightened immune system response to the spike. It is a general messenger to the immune system recognizing bad stuff and attacking it. IGG1 and IGG2 constitute most of the immune system in standard blood tests but deficiencies in 3 and 4 can lead to persistent health issues.

Deadpool is a hit and is going to make money, probably a lot of it.

The question for the prognosticators is, "does Hollywood understand why?" To find out if "Deadpool saved Hollywood" is correct, we will learn the answer to that question.

Don't be heavy-handed. Have decent characters people like. Get good actors - or at least, appropriate actors - to play those characters. Put those characters in a believable story. 148 Apparently, from what I've read, Deadpool more or less does this (with the third part - believability - being the weakest link). Will Hollywood learn? Color me skeptical.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!)

---------------------

Maybe substitute 'entertaining' for 'believable', and it hits it, and I'd otherwise agree. I mean, the more pensive the plot tries to get, sure maybe, the more believable it should be. But for just something trying to have fun, I'm always happy suspending belief to have fun. I love Howard Stern's narration on Private Parts of how you gotta suspend belief for the movie for when he plays his college self... He personally sucks, but that was a great movie...

151 I saw Deadpool 3 over the weekend; I thought it was better than 2, but does suffer a bit from some bad writing. The Gladiator 2 trailer did nothing to make me want to see that movie since it looks like it's the same story as the original with a "burn it all down" aesthetic instead of the "restore the original glory of Rome" idea from the first.

The Alien sequel might be good, but horror really isn't my thing so I'll pass no matter how good the reviews are.

Many years ago, I remember seeing a commercial for "Special K" cereal that pandered so hard in such a heavy-handed way to women that I had this same question. It was ahead of its time, and now this kind of advertising is downright normal - but at the time, it stood out for how transparent its pandering was. It was all about "we are women and are powerful and awesome and we *eat* and you should eat Special K as a woman for your female power boost."

I don't mind filler episodes as long as they're written so they're a necessary bridge to move things forward. Always interested to see an episode where one went, "what?" then later one realized why it was there.

299 Sound quality on an LP is noticeably better on the first 1 or 2 tracks, versus the "inner groove" tune at the end of either side.

The relative speed or velocity is much less as the tonearm tracks inside towards the inner spindle, and a degradation in fidelity and increase in distortion is evident.

Dillon was played by Bill Conrad, Chester by Parley Baer, Doc by Howard McNear, and Kitty by Georgia Ellis. She sounds exactly like Amanda Blake, or vice versa. None of the cast from radio was picked up by the TV version.

Conrad even had to advertise the TV show on the radio. "I know you're going to like it" etc, even though they said sorry charlie. That had to sting.

401 Saw "Deadpool & Wolverine" this past weekend, because my college aged son wanted to see it, and I thought good opportunity for Dad/son time.

It was, ovewhelmingly, an exercise in humiliation-ritual. 90% of the dialogue was pornographic, gay wishcasting, with much of it directed to various ancillary characters (and audience) to the effect of "don't you really want this [incredibly gay] thing."

There was actually a CGI gay snuff porn scene in which one NPC, being disemboweled, was connected to another NPC, being forked in the scrotum, in a similacrum of ghey/anal (in throes of death).

I've seen comments about how "ackshually Deadpool had a girlfriend so duh huh, you rubes don't get it." No, that was a pure (and obvious) head fake. If you want to know the agenda of a story, its the majority of it's imagery, not a passing comment, or plot device.

This was truly the most Satanic psy op I've ever seen, dressed up as a "movie."

435 Kashmir is a great tune, and not too all fired tough to play on guitar, at least compared with how complex it sounds.

Ya gotta finesse it right, dynamics, and really wail on it, but it is fun. Some tunes are fun to play, physically as well as sonically and this is one of them. This will might impress your friends. It's in one of them off-brand tunings, called DADGAD, ordinarily used to play depressing scottish tunes and Celtic stuff, a very pretty lush tuning for guitar. A few tunes are notably in alternate tuning.

The first people that I hear take advantage in recordings, is the Everly brothers. They would use alternate tunings to make their guitars play off each other, and add interest to the sound. Also "Nashville" tuning, where a whole set of light strings is tuned to a higher octave with the other guitar accompaniment.

I brought almost all the old characters back in interesting ways. It's fun to think about some compelling things one can do with a sequel, but the way most of them are done lack any inventiveness.
