28 The Reluctant Bride (French: La Fiancée Hésitante, sometimes translated as "The Hesitant Fiancée" or "The Hesitant Betrothed") is an 1866 oil painting by Auguste Toulmouche. The painting measures 65 cm × 54 cm (26 in × 21 in) and is signed and dated "A. Toulmouche / 1866".

The painting was put up for sale at Christie's in New York in October 1990, and again at Sotheby's in New York in April and October 2005, and is held in a private collection. The Sotheby's auction catalogue suggests it may have been exhibited in Paris at the 1866 Salon, and at the 1867 Exposition Universelle.

78 I really like this artist for many reasons. The exquisite detail, use of rich color and model's poses. Add to this his sense of humor. The expression on the bride is so direct in how she is glaring out at the viewer and how that contrasts with the oohing and aahing of the other girls is hilarious. And since the bride's face is dead center in the painting it forms the focus for everything else. Only then does the rest of the image come to the viewer's notice. Very effective.

Check out some of the other images on Toulmouche's Wiki page. They share the same good technique and sometimes the sense of playfulness and humor.

There are still so many people getting married in the RCC that that is why the need for so much time, and the recpeption venues require all that notice. You usually have to do pre Cana or counselling. Other pastors do it as well but it sometimes doesn't require quite as much time. I think pre marital counselling is a good thing. And one more reason I know if because a friend in her twenties is having a "Small" reception: (about 75) and she planned in June for a wedding next year in May.

I can think of at least 2 wedding we were invited to where I could just look at the bride and groom and know that this wasn't going to last.

Less than a week in all those cases.

I had a late family relative, my late father's elder cousin who told us that way back in the 1920s, there was a girl in the family who was matched up against her will. The bride told her friends on the wedding day that she would end it as soon as she could. And she did.

I had a royal blue "junior bridesmaid" dress for my cousin's wedding. The puffy sleeves were not only puffy, but ruffled. My mother made me repurpose it for the 8th grade dance, but she thought the neckline was too low so she had MORE ruffles added. IIRC it also had a big bow on the back. Peak 80s.

208 Yep, both step kid's marriages were doomed by their choice of mates. The one did last 23 years and the other luckily a few short years with no kids. Oddly enough the one that was married 23 years saw the inevitable end to her sibling's marriage on day one and couldn't predict the demise of her own marriage. People can delude themselves so easily. But I digress, let's not talk about biden and the msm.

In their mind, the Democrat Party is united except for wreckers and hoarders who are literal spies from the other party.

They have so far to go in understanding how American politics works in modern day.

The uniparty, the different factions, the fact that the civil war within the Republican Party is STILL ongoing (and that Mitch isn't actually on Trump's side is something they can't seem to comprehend). The idea that there may be different factions within the Democrat Party who want Joe gone for any number of reasons literally doesn't make sense to them.

The only reason to not support Joe is if you are an actual Republican and no Democrat can figure it out except them. It's so bizarre.

359 Kicking a few things around in my head. I am mulling.

I know this won't convinced the black-pilled, so don't put anything behind it. Just some random thoughts.

2020 the steal was a combination of a vote harvesting capability abetted by massive mail-in vote fraud, and a coordinated effort in 6 metro areas to generate enough ballots as a final buffer if they needed it. I remember being puzzled why they were holding rallied (if you could call 20 people a rally) in Pheonix, Detroit, and Atlanta. Coupled with Obama joining him. It didn't make sense at the time.

Now that we know what they did, in hindsight the strategy execution is easy to see.

Which makes 2024 less clear. We can see their plan. Convict Trump, then drive his numbers down with the "convicted felon" label. Biden campaign spent over $300M last quarter advertising this message. It didn't work.

We now can see their internal polls. They saw the race before the debate as about 240 electoral votes at best. They went into the debate with the plan to call Trump a felon, get him to blow up, and remind voters how "dangerous" Trump is.

Of course, it all blew up in their face.

360 What they aren't acting like is like they have 20M votes from illegals waiting in the wings. Or Dominion. Or locked in ballot harvesting. Or any other of their recent shenanigans to steal the election.

And the Governors of Michigan and Pennsylvania are not incentivized to cheat for them now. In 2020, both were facing elections in 2022. There was an inherent quid pro quo. Deliver their states for Biden and get party help in 2022. Which they got and they both won their elections.

But now, there is no reason for them to help Biden. If they want to run for President in 2028, Biden has to lose now. If Biden wins, then Harris will be sitting President and assured the nomination in 2028. Enabling cheating in their states is against their personal interests. And I have never seen a Democrat politician do anything out of a sense of greater good.

362 I just don't see how any of what is happening now makes any sense if they have a magic wand to guarantee a win in November. Even if they rolled the dice in the debate and lost, then their best move would be to hunker down, go through the nomination, and wait for everything to plow over. Doing the interview on ABC wouldn't be necessary, and they would have privately shown the plan to the donors, and gotten them on board.

Instead the full fledged revolt continues, and Trump is left having to taunt them to get them to even pay attention to him.

Anyway, some thoughts. Your mileage may vary.

They want to win & just need to cement the party.

'Fetterman mocks Abandon Biden Movement,' published July 3rd, Philadelphia Daily News - Inquirer dot com.

"That whole Abandon Biden thing, that's the dumbest s--- I've ever heard, said Fetterman, a devout supporter of Israel, in an interview on Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream.
...
"If they want to play with that kind of fire, they better earn that burn," Fetterman said.
...
The senator said that just as Trump's 34 felonies aren't defining his candidacy, one debate shouldn't define Biden's. Fetterman said he believes Biden will beat Trump "despite all of the Democrats wetting the bed, and prained the president's handling of C-19 and the economy. That being said, he acknowledged it's a tight race."
