We took Mr. Phoenix to handling class today. Because of Her Majesty's knee, I was the one who had to take him through the paces for an hour.

My mother was same age, and beginning to suffer from dementia.

My dad died from a brain injury sustained in a fall, and that was when I found out how bad off my mother was. My dad had been picking up the slack for her. She loved him so much, and wanted nothing more than to die after he passed.

An elderly woman with severe dementia and a death wish is very difficult to deal with. While I hurt when she also died from internal bleeding after suffering her own fall, it happened just before Covid started. It ended up being a blessing. She would never have understood why she was being locked up.

It's easy to forget now but in 2016 it was just a given Hillary was going win. Historic first and all that. Trump didn't even get much help from his own team.

I freely admit I didn't see it when he first entered the race but he is a generational talent. Nobody just decides to run for president for their first electoral position against both parties. Trump did and he beat every professional Republican politician and then Hillary. I don't think it makes a lot of sense to evaluate him as just another politician. He clearly isn't.

Got back to a floating position and discovered I had almost stepped on a huge puffer fish that had been resting on the sea floor.
A few minutes later an 18" long fish came to a stop 8 feet in front of me.
"Oh! A baby barracuda," I thought.
"Ohhhhhhhh. A baby barracuda. Shit!"
Figuring there might be more nearby, I took my bright yellow swim trunk clad ass and swam toward shore- one handed.
I'll let you guess where the other one was.
As that was strike 2 for close calls, I stayed out of the ocean the rest of the trip.

3) Younger Cuban population and Venezuelan immigrants. They turned Miami-Dade red.

But don't get too complacent. They are huge Trump fans, and will vote for candidates Trump endorses. But you put us a GOPe candidate and they are likely to stay home.

FWIW Home Depot's house brand (Ridgid) guarantees their stuff for life. Including the batteries. Might be worth checking the price difference while the Harbor Freight one is still able to be returned. Buy one once and be done, and if it or a battery fails (and the batteries always do) they send you another one.

My reasoning: I think that every Democrat, outside of about 5 - 10 % hard core true believers, knew that Biden was too old, they knew he was declining. They believed he could keep it hidden, but they were all terrified he might be found out.
And then came the debate.
Every one of them saw their worst fears put on display in public, every one of them panicked and started jabbering, and the more they jabbered the more they influenced each other and cycled into despair. And all of those reporters had been dying to talk about it, and couldn’t say anything, and suddenly the dam broke. Boom!

345 Dewalt still seems to be somewhat okay, but I'd suggest Milwaukee (sadly) and Bosch (fairly indifferent) are coasting on their reputations. Dewalt, too, to some extent. Because like you said, it's "one of the best brands" and people expect pros to use them.

Everything has gotten crappier, though, so I guess it's to be expected. It would be interesting to see two crews, one with exclusively Ridgid and the other Dewalt, do their jobs for five years and check back in to switch brands each year. Same tools, just switching every year and discussing them.

Thats unrealistic, of course, but it would compare longevity and reliability. Maybe a year and switch each month.

My Dewalt says "made in Mexico" but, I don't know where the parts were made or how much of it was 'made' in Mexico. And this set is a number of years old (12v!).

Yep. I always point to allen (hex) wrenches for the easiest thing to see. The Chinese ones have noticeable slop (even the high quality ones), and the wrench will move without the bolt moving. You can buy something from Wera and they'll be way better but you'll still see a difference between the ones manufactured in the Czech Republic or the ones manufactured in Germany.

I can't imagine how bad Craftsman must be now.
