Feeding dumplings to some good boys. There are crocodile delays on the highway tonight. Towering sequoias. Duck love. How a starfish walks. The answer may surprise you! Cool sheep. Magnificent view. Weirdest critter: the colugo. More colugos here. Colugos: Colugos are arboreal gliding mammals that are native to Southeast Asia. Their closest evolutionary relatives are primates. There are just two living species of colugos: the Sunda flying lemur (Galeopterus variegatus) and the Philippine flying lemur (Cynocephalus volans).Caterpillar: I'm a twig, nothing to see here. Now I'm a snake, be afraid, be very afraid. Surfing a 100 foot (?) wave. It's real, I've linked it before. Nobody believes me, but these damn bears are out-of-control. CDB and I are on the same page here. Lamb has to be made well, Not well done but well. Americans learn to hate lamb in the 50s when they were served overcooked mutton at public schools. And to be honest, even if it’s not nice to say the average homemaker cook back then wasn’t so great. They certainly weren’t going to make lamb À point, at Sunday dinner.
The interesting Thing about lamb is the imported stuff from New Zealand is boring and way too lean, The American lamb is where every or person who likes lamb will go if they have a choice. Posted by: Quint at July 03, 2024 08:05 PM (Z++3d) 122

I legitimately don’t think I have seen a snake in the wild in probably 35 years. It’s a weird thing because I’ve been all over and I definitely spent time outdoors, but snakes are not everywhere. Their places where they are pretty rare and if you’re running into snakes all the time you might want to rethink the way you go about things just in general.

Who ran this Op on Joe Biden? It has been unbelievable. It makes the Ukranian Orange Revolution look like a 5th grade production of Hamlet. One week later, we have the Democrat nominee, who has 99% of the pledged delegates having to put out a press release that I won't quit the race. Meanwhile, the allied press organs won't stop running stories about his mental incapacitation, every video of him by the media is mocking him, and other politicians in races refuse to be seen with him. This is the time the Democrats would be organizing their ballot harvesting operations, instead they are trying to figure out how to get the guy nominated before a floor fight breaks out. Quint plenty of high propensity voters like Trump. A plurality of them in fact.
It is the low propensity voters that are pushing Trump's numbers so high though. Low turn out, it would be a close race, close enough to steal. High turnout, Trump trounces Biden and stealing it is a lot harder. While Trump takes more Biden 2020 voters than Biden takes Trump 2020 voters, it is the "didn't vote in 2020" voters that are going for Trump 4:1. My father was very sharp at 93 years old. Was managing his own investments extremely well, was in full control of his facilities.
My mother was same age, and beginning to suffer from dementia. My dad died from a brain injury sustained in a fall, and that was when I found out how bad off my mother was. My dad had been picking up the slack for her. She loved him so much, and wanted nothing more than to die after he passed. An elderly woman with severe dementia and a death wish is very difficult to deal with. While I hurt when she also died from internal bleeding after suffering her own fall, it happened just before Covid started. It ended up being a blessing. She would never have understood why she was being locked up. Posted by: Dave in Fla at July 03, 2024 08:38 PM (5p7BC) 209

Here is my cynical take on the Governors.
At least 3 of them are poised to run in 2028, Newsom, Whitmer, and Shapiro. They know they are going into an open election. Hearing Biden tell them he is staying in, especially when it would be very clear he is not all there, is perfect for them. They know if Biden steps aside, then Kamala has to be the nominee. Biden running and getting trounced is their best case scenario. Especially if Trump comes in and fixes the country. Voters will forget how bad things were, and be open to voting for them. Trump ran the op. He baited Joe into the debate. Many said Trump was an idiot for accepting the terms of the debate, CNN moderators, no audience, shut off mics.
Anyone who has watched Joe for the last few years and particularly the last year knows he is fading fast. Trump wanted him on that stage for 90 minutes, live with no handlers and no editing. And Joe delivered. There's a reason Trump beat Hillary when all the experts said it was impossible. Why he beat the intel community and the media with the Russia hoax. Why he has survived lawfare and everything the left has thrown at him and just gotten stronger. It turns out he's very smart and knows how to size up his opponent and win. It's about time people realized that Trump is way more than the cartoon the left tries to pretend he is. They know better. That's why they are terrified of him. Interesting thing on the cheat this year. They depend on both Whitmer and Shapiro delivering the fraudulent ballots.
It's not in their interest to do so. If either of them allows their state to have a clean election, Biden loses. But if they engineer a steal in their states, they are insuring that Kamala will be the nominee in 2028. Posted by: Dave in Fla at July 03, 2024 08:50 PM (5p7BC) 226

He proceeded to explain that it was the soul of a dead child. It wanders about the earth for some time in the form of a flying squirrel, and only later arrives in the world beyond the tomb, far away on that side where the sun goes down. I sat long and talked with him about this. He told me about other animals. For him every one had its soul, just like a man. He had even his own system of classification of them. He arranged the big animals in one class, for instance, the little ones in another, and the clever ones he separated from the foolish. The sable he included among the clever ones. To my question which animal, in his opinion, was the most harmful of all, he considered a minute, and then said: Posted by: 13times at July 03, 2024 08:53 PM (IGmai) 231

It's easy to forget now but in 2016 it was just a given Hillary was going win. Historic first and all that. Trump didn't even get much help from his own team. I freely admit I didn't see it when he first entered the race but he is a generational talent. Nobody just decides to run for president for their first electoral position against both parties. Other than DeSantis cleaning up the election fraud in FL, how do you explain Broward County...
Well three things: 1) Broward County is still blue, the shift has been in Miami-Dade 2) Brenda Snipes was cheating to such high levels that she was swinging state elections. So DeSantis finding a way to fire her made a massive difference. 2-3 points statewide 3) Younger Cuban population and Venezuelan immigrants. They turned Miami-Dade red. But don't get too complacent. They are huge Trump fans, and will vote for candidates Trump endorses. But you put us a GOPe candidate and they are likely to stay home. Posted by: Dave in Fla at July 03, 2024 09:22 PM (5p7BC) 294

173 I keep coming back to the unanswered question.
Who ran this Op on Joe Biden?” I’ve thought a lot about this, and I don’t believe anyone deliberately ran an Op. Rather, I think we’ve all been witness to one of the biggest and most widespread Preference Cascades ever seen. My reasoning: I think that every Democrat, outside of about 5 - 10 % hard core true believers, knew that Biden was too old, they knew he was declining. They believed he could keep it hidden, but they were all terrified he might be found out. And then came the debate. Every one of them saw their worst fears put on display in public, every one of them panicked and started jabbering, and the more they jabbered the more they influenced each other and cycled into despair. And all of those reporters had been dying to talk about it, and couldn’t say anything, and suddenly the dam broke. Boom! Posted by: Tom Servo at July 03, 2024 09:48 PM (S6gqv) 340

Dewalt still seems to be somewhat okay, but I'd suggest Milwaukee (sadly) and Bosch (fairly indifferent) are coasting on their reputations. Dewalt, too, to some extent. Because like you said, it's "one of the best brands" and people expect pros to use them.
Everything has gotten crappier, though, so I guess it's to be expected. It would be interesting to see two crews, one with exclusively Ridgid and the other Dewalt, do their jobs for five years and check back in to switch brands each year. Same tools, just switching every year and discussing them. Thats unrealistic, of course, but it would compare longevity and reliability. Maybe a year and switch each month.
