The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

I had an interesting conversation with a bunch of like-minded conservatives last month, and articulated something that in retrospect is obvious, but difficult to accept.

Islam is winning.

It has a coherent (to them) political philosophy, there is very little internal dissension, the vast majority of its adherents are supportive of its most savage and world-destroying goals, and they have successfully co-opted the natural antipathy of the West toward them and turned it on its head.

There are short-sighted economic reasons for the West to allow the immigrant invasions, but the grand scheme has nothing to do with economics and everything to do with the progressive drive to destroy traditional Western culture and replace it with...anything else. Islam, their allies of convenience, is happy to be of assistance, because they are confident that they will have the upper hand if the West falls to the globalist left.

And they will.

The only saving grace for the supporters of traditional Western philosophy and culture is that our enemies have coalesced into one. There is very little daylight between the progressives and Islam, so if we choose to fight, we will have an easier time of it.

But of course the conservative movement is mired in the last war. You know...the polite one where Ronald Reagan could have lunch with Tip O'Neill. Of course Tip went back to congress and f*cked Reagan, but it is certainly a romantic and warming story!

Cast Away Illusions and Prepare for Struggle

...for decades old guard conservatives have for the most part completely failed to conserve anything, institutions of the republic included, no matter how frequently they've bandied about the Constitution and appealed to American exceptionalism; it will avail us nothing to continue in the same vein.

We need a radical re-imagining of the tactics and strategy of American politics if we are to prevail. There are indications that some of the MAGA-curious politicians are embracing the left's techniques, but until it becomes the default, the conservative movement in America will continue to struggle.

And, sadly, that won't be enough.

The Constitution was a very fine document, successfully codifying the unique character of the young Anglo-American nation. Many of us dearly hope it can yet be restored and re-enforced, in spirit and law. But the time for conservatives' hubristic habit of quibbling over American exceptionalism or the precise meaning of America's founding has well and truly passed. Now is the time to cast away illusions and prepare for struggle.

As much as we love the ideal America, it seems to be receding into the past, replaced by a post-modern hellscape of two-tiered justice, blending of government and leftist social organizations, Stalinist control of the media, and a host of other failures to adhere to our founding document.

The Constitution may well have outlived its usefulness.

The burning question is: What will replace it?

The Koran? The Frankfurt School?

Or a reimagined governing document that returns to the foundational concepts of freedom, liberty, self-determination? But it must have teeth, and it will most probably be forged in blood.

This is a dangerous misapprehension.

Our deeply repressive social and legal systems don't help matters, to be sure.

But organized American Christianity and Judaism are weak. These churches and synagogues are, simply put, hollow.

I never said much in my circles when others would point, laugh, mock the English, French, et al about the invasion of adherents to those countries were/are experiencing. Often their mocking was followed up with the, “It would never happen here.” Well it is happening here. 55 It's difficult to amend. On purpose. It wasn't supposed to be a statutory repository like many state constitutions seem to be.

One time it was amended as a statutory mechanism in the ban on alcohol...a temperance movement well meaning...that Democrats used to remove the amendment and buy votes for an American style warlord.
So we didn't do that again.
The document NEEDS amendment from time to time to delineate the playing field to curbing the legislators and justices and executives.
It should be a limiting document defining what government cannot do. Such as government cannot act in concert with private entities to advance or subtract promotion of preferred government narratives.
Or government cannot fund foreign militaries absent a declaration of war.
Or government cannot aid anything other than the deportation of foreign nationals.

We morons can dream. We're not that much different in mind than the guys that wrote the damned thing. It's up to us to do the maintenance on it.

Egypt is an example of how Islam works for the conquered.

The Copts there are the conquered Christian people, AMAZINGLY still making up 10% of the population.

They are allowed to continue their ancient faith... unless some Muslims get mad at them and then their houses of worship and homes will be burned. Also, at any time the muslims around them might want their women and rape them and then claim them as "wives" who are now Islamic.

I came to this realization in Navy boot camp. Now, boot camp was not (nor was it intended to be) a pleasant experience, by any means. At the same time, however, I was to some degree liberated from the unpleasantness of it when I realized I wasn't required to think while there. Just do what I was told: Go here, go there, do this, don't do that. So I could just follow orders like an automaton, while my mind could kinda-sorta zone out and go its kinda-sorta happy place.

Like I said, this in itself was not enough to make boot camp a pleasant experience, but it did mitigate the unpleasantness. And I suspect that many people who don't want to buck the system and/or don't want to think too much make this exact same tradeoff in life.

One of the problems with experts is that someone who is not an expert has to decide who is the expert. This usually ends up meaning that if they say what the chooser wants to hear, they are chosen.

Thus, who is a medical expert went from people who said “masks are silly” to people who said “masks are necessary” almost overnight.

One of my go-to roleplaying games is Daredevils. It has a very realistic rule about choosing experts. Unless you don’t need an expert (because you already are one) trying to choose a good one almost always backfires.

The movie was 1939's The Phantom of the Opera, starring Charles Laughton and a lovely young Maureen O'Hara in her Hollywood debut.

At the beginning of the film, a band of Gypsies is trying to enter Paris, from which they have been legally banned. Cedrick Hardwicke plays a high government official who is confronting them at the gates of the city. When the leader of the Gypsies asks why they are barred from the city, the Hardwicke character responds with something like, "Because you are not Frenchmen."
To which the Gypsy leader responds with something like "You were here first, and we are here later." Which I took to mean, "Yeah, you Frenchmen rule the roost now, but someday we will supplant." Eerily prescient of the Muslim takeover of Europe today.

Drop hardcore porn mags on them from the air and let them fight each other for them. I've seen them fight over porn mags scrounged from garbage cans when I was stationed in Egypt.

Now that there's smartphones/internet, it isn't likely to be as effective as it once was, but in the really snooty mohammedan countries where they censor the internet at the switching centers it'll be worth doing.

293 No, the Constitution is not out of date. What is out of date, what does need to come to an end, is the abuse of the Constitution. The principle charter of the Federal Government, as established by the Constitution, is the security, preservation, and safety of the Federal Republic. That, and the very few enumerated duties assigned to it within the Constitution.

Governance of the populace is a State function. Care and feeding and housing and assistance and incentives and punishments and all the day-to-day functions of getting people to live more or less together is what the States are supposed to do. What do the DC bureaucrats bring to the table anyway that the States and/or Municipalities cannot or should not acquire on their own?

We do not need to launder everything through a half-dozen layers of DC bureaucracy. Shove those duties down to the States, hand them a check for what was allocated, and be done with it. We could close 3/4+ of DC with this one simple trick. And then tell the States that next year they're on their own. They'll have to raise their own dang taxes for the programs they want. Heck, they already have parallel agencies running these programs at State level.
