Estimate: Only 50 of Hamas' 116 Hostages Haven't Been Murdered Yet

The US estimates that Hamas has murdered all but 50 of the hostages they took on October 7th.

US officials believe that as few as 50 of the 116 hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip are still alive, according to a new report.

The assessment, based in part on Israeli intelligence, indicated that 66 of the remaining hostages are now dead, mediators in the hostage talks and a US official told the Wall Street Journal.

Israel previously estimated that 41 remaining hostages were no longer alive, while Hamas has insisted that it does not know how many hostages are alive or dead.

A "peace activist" taken hostage by Hamas and then released says she's not in favor of "peace" any longer.

An Israeli peace activist who was kidnapped and held hostage for 53 days in Gaza said the horrifying experience shattered her longstanding belief that there could be peace between Palestinians and Israelis.

"I don't believe in peace, I don't, sorry. I changed my mind," Ada Sagi, who was captured by Hamas on Oct. 7, at the start of the Israel-Hamas war, told the BBC.

For decades, Sagi, 75, lived in the Nir Oz kibbutz near the Israel-Gaza border and taught Israelis Arabic so that they could speak to their neighbors.

Now, she's urging the Israeli government to agree to a ceasefire and release the other 116 hostages who remain captive by Hamas.

I know that seems to be a contradiction, but she wants the ceasefire just to get the other 116 hostages freed.

Of course, we now estimate that 66 of them have been murdered already.

"For many years, I believed in peace. It's the reason why I started to teach Arabic at school. Maybe it will bring peace between the Arab people in Israel and the Jewish people," she recalled thinking. "But from year to year, I understand Hamas don't want it."

Sagi, who turned 75 while in captivity, was among 105 hostages released in November in exchange for a week-long ceasefire and the release of some 240 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Ugh. And so the terrorists and kidnappers are right back in action.

I hope Israel killed a lot of them in action.

Jake Tapper, who attacks any right-leaning critics of the media as lying fabulists and fascists, has the audacity to (gently) criticize his fellow media propagandists as down-playing the fact that five Americans remain hostage in Gaza.

But Jake! You're criticizing the media! That means you support disinformation and lies! And the fascist suppression of "journalists"!

Isn't that what you always claim whenever someone criticizes you for your blatant, toxic bias?

By the way, Fake Jake, you can take this up with CNN management and your fellow "journalists," you know.

IAF aircraft conducted a precise and targeted strike to eliminate the Hamas terrorist Ahmed Hassan Salame Alsauarka in the area of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza.

Alsauarka was a squad commander in the Nukhba Forces who infiltrated into and carried out attacks on communities in southern Israel during the Oct. 7 Massacre. Alsauarka led and directed sniper activity in the area of Beit Hanoun and took part in Hamas' attacks on IDF troops.

Prior to the strike, a number of steps were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians during the operation. As a result, no civilians were injured during the strike.

I would have argued loudly a bad republican is better than a good democrat. Kinzinger and Mz. Cheney took a little wind out of my sails. Of course the argument could be made they aren’t even RINOs, they are full fledged Dems.

the "binary" choice scenario only works if the binary choice is led by the majority of the party.
The GOP hates their base and has been moving farther away from it for years, decades even... the leadership reflect none of the base priorities and they are proud of that fact.
If the GOP leadership backed the base, RINOs would be tolerable.. that is not the world we live in.

73 58 Prior to the strike, a number of steps were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians during the operation. As a result, no civilians were injured during the strike.

And that's the bullshit that Israel puts on itself.

——-

Wrong. That’s the bs we, and the world, put on Israel. We are supposed to be the leaders of the free world. We should be telling Hamas “Palestine? We don’t know her.” We should be saying if civilians get killed, that is on you, Hamas. We should be saying war is ugly. Very ugly. And while you started it, we are going to help Israel finish it.

The stories about colonialism and Zionist this or that that have suddenly become mainstream are absolutely disgusting and the people who are behind it (the left) should be shunned into next century.

Realistically, I had been against a Gaza genocide for a lot of reasons but without having any good ideas of what alternative options were viable.

Now I am starting to come around to the idea that Gaza and all inhabitants must be destroyed. This is a very harsh statement and I do not say it lightly, but how else to discourage such an act? Gaza and Gazans must be marked down in history as a lesson of what not to do. How not to survive. Failure in thinking.
10,000 years from now when a cult arises and says "let's wipe such and such country off the map," others must remind them of Gaza and their dreadful fate.

During WWII the Japanese culture is not close to what it is today. Their entire society operated the Bushido code back then. Warriors were at the top of the pecking order with nearly everyone else* subject to their whims. The Japanese during that time period were brutal to anyone not Japanese and anyone Japanese that were inferior in rank to them. The military was an extreme example of this. Officers and NCO's would routinely beat their men for any reason or no reason and they had to stand there and take whatever punishment they received without complaint.

*Certain classes of educated and skilled people like craftsmen, doctors, skilled laborers, factory workers and the like were outside of normal society and were not usually abused and were for the most part unmolested by the warrior class.

This has truth in it.

Japan behaved like most countries before the 20th century, and certainly the way most Asians behave even today. War is not a game of cricket (to quote the great Colonel Saito.)

Also, relevant to the current post, most people, honorable or not, are not "Christians" and they fight wars in order to destroy.

We keep expecting the M. E. to act in as good Christians (to quote The Governor) I am only partially joking though -- war is about destroying whatever needs to be destroyed in order to win.

Here's the problem

The ONLY reason to minimize civilian casualties is to minimize the the knock on effects of being painted as savages.

Yet a lot of people today think you minimize civilians because "they are innocent", or "victims, too"
No. the objective is to destroy the culture that created the threat. If that can be done without wasting bullets on civilians, then OK, but saving civilians and losing the war will only lead to more civilian deaths in the future.

We got confused after we bombed Hiroshima - all the pinko idiots wanted to paint that as "evil," but it was not, it was necessary. It was the point of war - to win. No one fights a war to minimize killing the people on the other side who started it.

30 November 2023, Hunter Biden art buyer advocated for her great-niece's release from Hamas, By Ben Weingarten, Real Clear Wire

In part, The American kidnap victim released by the terrorist group Hamas during its ongoing ceasefire with Israel is a great-niece of Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali, a major Democratic party donor who paid handsomely for Hunter Biden’s art and won an appointment to a plum cultural post from President Biden.

Hirsh Naftali's Biden connections went all but unmentioned as she advocated in a series of nationally televised interviews for the release of her 4-year-old grandniece, Abigail Mor Idan, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen whose parents were murdered by marauding jihadists in southern Israel on Oct. 7. She is the only American thus far among the 61 mostly women and children exchanged for Palestinian Arab prisoners in a fragile negotiated truce.

I wouldn't make a blanket statement about all Catholics and their level of engagement with Scripture. We have a number of Catholics here who seems to attend groups where study of the Scripture is an important part of it, and you can find all sorts of Books and Bible studies that are directed towards Catholics and talks on the internet that have Scripture as their foundation.

I just dislike the infighting among Christians which we sometimes see here.

Entirely incorrect. The Tali were in league with AQ and harboring UBL and his fighters. Same with the Paki’s who we’re letting them roam back and forth over the mountains to winter and receive aid in Pakistink. The Tali only paid a price because of their support for AQ. Nobody really gave a big fig about them and AFG before that happened. They were a minor player in a proxy war. The mission objective was to drive AQ out, and we did, twice. The Tali were just at first supplementing AQ, then became a relative non factor, then got pissed off because we stayed too long when the dunces at State decided we should take the Tali out of power and install a friendly government. You have to understand, the Tali may be 12th century shitbag extremist but they have a decent amount of support from many of the tribes. The people at State, as fucking usual, stepped on their dicks with their idealist nation building bullshit. We met the mission objective. State is still f’ing it up
