"I was nervous at first, then got comfortable and recorded it," Inga-Landi admitted in the videotaped statement, prosecutors said in Queens Criminal Court, drawing sighs from the audience. Inga-Landi, who had scratches visible on his face, scowled and kept his head down throughout the arraignment, including as Judge Joanne B. Watters ordered him held without bail until his next court appearance July 1. Watters agreed with Assistant District Attorney Kasey Esposito that Inga-Landi -- who faces an immigration arrest from Texas for being an inadmissible alien after he crossed the border in 2021 -- posed a flight risk given his "tenuous" ties to the US. The Post first reported that an immigration judge in 2022 ordered Inga-Landi to leave the country.

Dramatic video and photos obtained by The Post shows the shirtless creep -- later identified by police as Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi -- cowering on the sidewalk early Tuesday as the angry mob pounds him and calls him out as "a rapist." "Where are you going? Where are you going?" a woman is heard screaming in Spanish while clutching his hair. "He's a rapist. He don't care." Inga-Landi faces a slew of charges, including rape, kidnapping and sex abuse, after cops arrested him thanks to a flood of help from the public, including the good Samaritans who lassoed him on the street, NYPD brass said later Tuesday. Footage shows the suspected abuser crawling under a parked car to get away from the angry vigilante mob, as bystanders keep screaming. "He's under the car. He's hiding under the car because we beat the s--t out of him," the woman yells as cops show up. "Beat his ass," she adds.
Flores, 24, said he waited all day Monday for the sicko to come by the deli, and he eventually arrived to buy something. "I saw what he was trying to do, he looked back at me. I waited for him to come out the store and dragged him to the floor," Flores, 24, recalled. "A couple people helped me," Flores continued. "He tried to fight back. He tried to run for his life but he couldn't. Yeah, he admitted to it. He was saying, 'Alright, alright, alright. Don't hit me, don't hit me.'"

It really is insane to grasp how easily we're being conquered.
Think about the resources needed for one functioning illegal family over here. Let's pretend they only have two kids in the school system. Not just the money involved per student, but the time and effort taken from English speaking students and dragging the classes down.
Now stop to think about all the abandoned children - be it because Jose and Rose decided they were tired of them, or because the kids are anchor babies and the parents were deported and left the kids - and there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of them.
All in the system. All tying up the foster care network. All consuming resources that are intended for American children, and damaging the services received by Americans.
This can *maybe* continue for 10-15 more years before there's a noticeable shift of some kind.

Had a delivery guy trying to deliver to my next door neighbor stop by earlier this morning and ask if he was in his shop. Some flavor of asian, and didn't speak a word of English, he was using a shitty Chyna translation phone app to attempt communication. Turned out to be nearly impossible to understand him.

I read the decision, the concurrence, and the dissent. The majority got it wrong, but what they actually held is much narrower than what it being reported. They basically reformulated the question into whether the MRT was constitutional. The question of whether unrealized gains can be taxed wasn't addressed.
The problem with the case was that it dealt with an odd situation: the MRT and the taxpayers in the case did kinda "realize" their gains; it's just that the company reinvested those gains back in the company. So while they never received a direct distribution from the company, the company did calculate and apportion profits to them.

Probably doesn't. 401(k) is all tax-deferred anyway, and you pay the much higher tax rate when you take it down. This is more about socking people with gains held through subsidiaries, IIRC.

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a provision of a 2017 corporate tax reform law, known as the mandatory repatriation tax, that taxes the undistributed profits from U.S. shares of foreign corporations in which Americans own a majority.
The profit is realized, but not distributed. It is reinvested. The court also went on an on about how narrow this ruling was. I struggle seeing this as income if they never got the actual money, but it isn’t a wide ruling.

I believe the thinking is that there a lot of empty-nesters who aren't downsizing their homes because they have been grandfathered in to lower property taxes.
By forcing them to sell a home that has appreciated over the years, it allows others with favorable lending to buy up the properties.
This is how you get a nation of owners to a nation of renters and get people who own their homes to start paying rent to those who managed to get the financing.
Remember, there are a LOT of foreign investors trying to buy hard assets. Taxing millions out of their homes not only stimulates massive real-estate transactions but stimulates the banking industry while foreign money pours in floating the highly inflated and devalued dollar.

For some judges, precedent does not carry any weight as precedent. One of our local lib shit judges recently refused to apply an opinion of our state supreme court, stating on the record that she doesn't understand why she should be bound when the U.S. Supreme Court can just reverse itself on abortion and affirmative action. I'm not exaggerating one bit. She said that at the hearing.

Like Elric, I read the whole shebang. But he is a lawyer, so his comments count more than mine. The ruling is very narrow, and the dissent notes it’s not income if it isn’t paid out, but there were profits, they were realized. They just got reinvested rather than distributed. It’s for foreign companies invested in by Americans. It’s really narrow and has been in place since 2017. Nothing is changing. I think the reasons cited for the ruling are questionable, and frankly weaksauce. But they did backflips to stress how narrow this is.

Rich != Affluent. Most "rich" people are actually high-income people. Net worth is a different story. High income implies higher net worth, but needn't (though it is more common than low income and high net worth).
Taxation is on income, not assets. Both forms of taxation are bad. Income taxes are bad because they depress productivity. Asset taxes are bad (worse) because they're naked expropriation of property without compensation.
"Tax the rich" is never about taxing the rich, it's about taxing the affluent. They may or may not be rich. I know tons of affluent people who are broke as shit and in debt up to their eyeballs because the gap between "more" and "enough" never closes and their incomes give them access to a whole lot more leverage. I personally know people in the quarter-million plus earnings category who have shockingly small net worth.

Simple fact....I don't condone breaking the law in order to uphold the law. Simple fact #2....using the term "justice" isn't helpful to the conversation. "Justice" is a subjective term. Talk to any one person on any given case and they'll give you different thought on what constitutes justice.
The application of vigilante "justice" through violence is a slope I don't want to go down. I know people who think you deserve a bullet in the head for scratching their car door. Call me old fashioned, but I'm going to go with the guilty until proven innocent, and then the ole' punishment fits the crime. I'll continue to defend myself and others, but I won't initiate the altercation. And, believe me when I tell you I could do some serious damage.

Most *millionaires* in the US got there not by being a Ford or Carnegie, but by living within their means (ie, not buying shit they didn't have cash to pay for). Those are *not* the people who somehow end up being able to take advantage of the oddly-specific exemptions congresscritters write.

You should read it. It’s not really the same thing. This is a Trump tax reform law. The too many consequences component is what I found to be weak sauce. But at the end of the day, these were realized profits.
