Trump Opens Up an Eighteen Point Lead in Iowa, a State Obama Won

Happy Nineteenth of June. I have proclaimed today a special holiday, which I call "Humpteenth."

Iowa wasn't and isn't a blue state, but Obama did win it. Twice. Even in 2012, after everyone understood that he was an incompetent empty-suit DEI hire.

So it was gettable.

Iowa is no longer gettable for Democrats.

Former President Trump holds an 18-point lead over President Biden in Iowa, according to a new poll in a one-time crucial general election battleground state that's shifted to the right over the past decade.

Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, stands at 50% with Biden at 32% among likely voters in a Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll released on Monday.

Democrat turned independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who says he's qualified to make Iowa's ballot, grabbed 9% support, with Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver at 3%, and 3% backing other candidates, according to the survey.

Iowa was a one-time swing state, which former President Barack Obama carried in the 2008 and 2012 elections. But Trump won the state by 9 points over Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016 in his White House victory and by 8 points over Biden four years ago in his re-election defeat.

I mentioned last week that Kathleen Parker (who?) had proposed swapping out liability Kamala Harris for Super-Popular Hillary Clinton. She suggested this because people know Biden is cognitively impaired and getting worse every day, and would feel "reassured" if a charismatic, ethical super-genius with a long, long list of real accomplishments were appointed to succeed Biden when he dies in the next couple of years.

But they didn't have anyone like that, so Kathleen Parker suggested Hillary Clinton instead.

The left is pretending that this is all a Cheap Fake by Fox News.

Nope, it's a scheme by a real card-carrying batty Karen Liberal as published in the ultra-woke Washington Post.

Nice try, though, ignorant, incompetent leftwing hack.

Beege Wellborne points out that this proves that not even woke leftist sub-cretins obsessed with bringing children to Drag Queen Story Hour and minting new pronouns every day -- the Washington Post's target audience -- don't read the Washinton Post, either.

We came, we saw, I took his muumuus.

Maybe this bloated alcoholic crone isn't in the best health, either.

14 RIP Willie Mays. Cool story: when I was a kid, my dad played in a NYC softball league. It was a glorified beer league, but it had sponsors, real teams, standings, playoffs, etc.

One game was played at a fair or something like that. I went with my dad. Guess who was playing on the other team? Yes, Willie Mays. I don’t remember what the connection was, but he was playing. This was probably mid-1980s so Mays was in his 50s by then.

The story gets better. My dad had this cool softball bat that was jet black with a cool shape and had white painted bats (the flying animal) on it. I think it was called "The Bat." Guess which bat Willie used? Yup, he used my dad's.

There's even more! Willie Mays, one of the best baseball players ever, failed to get a single hit with that bat! When he gave the bat back to my dad after his last at-bat, he made a joking comment to that effect. "The only bat I never got a hit with!"

Willie seemed like a cool dude. He played the game, gave autographs, and hung around and bullshitted. You never would have known he was a legendary baseball player. No entourage, no publicist, no handlers. I highly doubt that would happen today.

17 I saw an interesting comment about the IA story. As Ace says, Iowa is not gettable for the Dems this year. But this person, a Wisconsinite, said that if IA is indeed 18 points for Trump, then WI is out of reach for the Dems too. Most of the election analyses I've read say that if Trump gets what he got last time, and one of WI, MI, or PA, he wins.

18 Sidebar note: I just started the big bio of Willie Mays. I've chosen it as my dinner table book.

Also, the sidebar linked story points out his tie - offensively - with Aaron, DiMaggio, and Ott. It doesn't point out that only DiMaggio could compare defensively. And Joe's career was much shorter. (Partly WWII, but also injuries.)

That's possible.

But among the other possibilities, they don't put Cummala on the ticket this time. Whether she agrees to it, or goes kicking and screaming, there's no law that says she has to be on the ticket. In which case, who would they put on there?

If it's someone "credible," then I think that would signal their intent to replace the Pooper. If not, if they keep Cummala there, I think that means they're going to drag the carcass all the way to the finish line.

Abolition of Slavery and the freeing of the slaves is an important historical event for our country.

I wouldn't have chosen the date that Slaves were freed in Houston as the marker (I'd have used Nov. 19, the Date of the Gettysburg Address as it would point to the great liberator himself) but of all the stupidity the left pushes (DURING PRIDE MONTH???), this one I can grant isn't stupid.

Biden is faking the level of his dementia - it got him out of being prosecuted, and even a poor debate performance will look great compared to his day to day act. That will be all the LIVs need to think he is OK.

He pulled this act in 2020: he acted all addle brained up until the debate, and his performance at the debate was so much better than his day to day act, that he looked fine to people who had only heard he was feeble minded. Biden is a very clever and evil person - he is the one directing the prosecution of Trump to tie him up and keep him from campaigning.

People always overrate Yankees. Always... except Ruth and Gehrig.

Jeter was perhaps the third or fourth best shortstop of his generation. I'd take Hoyt Wilhelm over Rivera... the only guy to get 100% of the HOF vote.

As for DiMaggio... meh. Sure, he's an all-time great, but again, maybe the fourth or fifth best outfield of his era. I'd take Williams and Musial over him, easily, and probably if I thought about it, I'd come up with the other players.

But he was a Yankee, so everyone is going to cream all over him.

88 Far too many think Obama some Machiavellian Master Mind. He's a dolt. Both speeches and policies were idiotic. His only ability was having mastered a style that made the chattering classes swoon.

Obama has mastered speaking in a deeper register than his natural voice. I remember an old (very old) Carson show, in which one of the guests, possibly Rickles, was seated between Johnny and someone else with a deep voice (( think Dick Cavett, of all people). Rickles was going on about how awesome it was hearing all those bass notes in stereo.

A deep voice is a quick way to gain stature and impress women.

Bill Clinton, I'll grant, was smart. Corrupt, but smart. But they cannot run him.

All of the things that the Ds have done since Biden was elected have ruined the country and all their unicorn theories are failing to come to pass. 164 I read a bio of Wille Mays by Arnold Hano from back in the 60's. Interesting read for a kid obssesed with everything about baseball at the time.

However, what was really fascinating was when Hano laid out the statistical case for Willie. He compared him with great players of the day (MVPs). No match for Willie. But most impressively, to conclude he said, "So what about Henry Aaron? He can hit and he can fly."

Rudimentary stats of course, when stats like who led the league in homers, RBIs, steals, etc. actually counted, as opposed to now.

But still fascinating, Willie blew everyone away statwise including Aaron (no disrespect, Bad Henry was an all time great by any measure).

He also mentioned a play he saw where Mays hit a fairly sharp grounder to third, (not a chop or roller, no extra effort or acrobatics needed to make the routine play) and Mays simply beat the throw to first.

RIP.

________

That Edmonds catch I posted above is, IMO, the greatest catch of all time. I say that because he was diving straight backwards as the ball was coming down, meaning he had no frame of reference in his field of vision to judge the ball's trajectory. Just sky. With a football, the nose of ball turns over, so that gives some reference on trajectory even if you're looking straight up. Not so with a round ball.

I don't believe I've ever seen that before, even with an infielder diving for a texas leaguer.

340 255 Biden will 100% be the nominee and candidate.

The nuclear winter fallout of replacement is too risky-- not just voters offended by the bait-and-switch, but down-ticket.

I think you're right and I'll go even further against conventional thought. If Trump survives to the election, the cheat machine will not be running as strong as many think.

I believe they know the fat lady has sung for this cycle and with it being too late for other viable options, they may take the L because simply salvaging FJB for 4 more years won't be considered worth it. Maybe they would the would for the JEF , but I sense major economic downturn in the works for 2025, intentional or otherwise.

They'll let Trump take the fall for all the calamity they can throw at him. They know Joe Biden for <=4 more years will destroy the Democrat party for a generation even if they find a mid 2 term replacement.

343 Yao. There was confusion in the lodge of Sun-In-His-Hair. His chiefs had left him, and his hair was silvering with age.
"My son will take over," he said to a gathering of those last as the pipe was passed.
"You have a better son than does Bai-Den."
They looked at the fire.
One spoke, boldly. "I have loved you from the start. All the moves you have made have been for The People. The People will not forget you."
Others muttered similar smoke.
Sun-In-His-Hair heard their counsel, but not with the patience as before. He spoke.
"This old man, Bai-Den, he will live in the Big Lodge again. He will die there, likely. His..."
"The mud-woman, confused and dumb."
"Yes, the one," Sun-In-His-Hair said. "Profoundly dumb. She will laugh at a sky-burial. She has the mind of a child."
They sat, and thought.
One spoke up. A young man. "If the..."
An older man said "We must hear from the young. Speak up, so that the old can hear."
"Sun will lose because the Chinese have worked with Bai-Den."
They thought.
"Now is the time to gather arrows," someone said from a far and dark corner of the lodge. "Now is the time to make jerky and gather arrows and learn to win a nation."

Biden is faking the level of his dementia - it got him out of being prosecuted, and even a poor debate performance will look great compared to his day to day act. That will be all the LIVs need to think he is OK.

348 When Hillary finally goes to her infernal "reward" I hope we exhume the body and give it a full, thorough autopsy.

Not because we'll find anything, but if I remember anything at all about an autopsy, the process would ensure that Hillary is dead and stays that way.

At least until Jesus resurrects everyone, and at that point He will be running things, so a live hillary then will not be a danger.
