A grotesquely biased jury of Trump-haters, led by a judge who put service to his party above his judicial responsibilities, has returned guilty verdicts against Donald Trump on all 34 counts with which he was--absurdly--charged.
What this shows is that the most important variable in any case is who decides it. Here, the Democrats knew that they could impanel a rabidly anti-Trump jury in Manhattan, so they did so. It is very much like the lawsuit that Michael Mann brought against Mark Steyn and others, of which I observed some of the latter stages. The defendants were properly happy about how the trial had gone, but the facts didn't matter. The Democrats had chosen the right venue, Washington, D.C., and a biased jury found for Mann. Same thing here.
What to do now? First, it is now absolutely essential that Trump be elected president. The Democrats cannot be allowed to get away with this effort to turn America into a banana republic.
Second, the Democrats understand nothing except the raw exercise of power. Therefore, Republican attorneys general and district attorneys should bring criminal charges against Democratic officeholders wherever possible. No Democratic officeholder should be allowed to retire, in any jurisdiction with Republican law enforcement, without facing criminal charges. There can't be a single Democratic official in America against whom a criminal case can't be brought that is better than this case against Trump. It should be open season on Democrats in the criminal courts.
Third, the criminal prosecutions should begin with Joe Biden. Unlike Trump, Biden is actually a criminal. He is already known to be guilty under the federal bribery statute. If Trump wins in November, his Department of Justice should immediately indict Biden, and Biden should be hounded until the day he dies or goes to prison, whichever happens first.

That's a good start. He notes that some, like Biden, will have to be prosecuted on "their home turf," in a blue city like DC.

But why? Republicans need to get serious about passing a law guaranteeing both defendants and prosecutors the right to seek removal to a neutral jurisdiction in politically-charged cases. We cannot continue being hounded in blue city courts while serial Democratic lawbreakers are not even charged because Democratic juries would view them as "a well-meaning old man with memory issues."

He does suggest that Red States begin scanning their laws to see if any bribery cases against Joe or Hunter Biden (or Jim Biden, or the nieces and granddaughters) can be prosecuted in red state courts.

Sean Davis agrees -- and wants the GOP to stop scheming to give tax breaks to the corporations who have gladly enlisted in the Democrats' war on normal citizens:

One of my former law partners, a world class trial lawyer, when faced with an adversary who wanted to engage in unprofessional "hardball" litigation tactics would say, "I can play the game; just tell me the rules." The Democrats have made the rules, and their opponents will have little choice but to play the game.
This is not a game that can or will be played by one side only. The rules are now set. When Republicans have the chance, they will play the game. Many, perhaps most, will think that a response is mandatory and that "taking the high road" is no longer an option. Instead, it would be regarded by the "progressive" left -- that is to say those now in charge of the Democratic party -- as weakness if they roll over and fail to respond. This is an existential threat to the stability of our political system and nation. That risk makes this the most dangerous day in the history of the Country, at least in our lifetimes.
Henceforth, weaponization of the justice system against a political opponent will be the norm. Political grudges will be resolved by political opponents in cherry-picked courtrooms where conviction is most likely. All this confirms that when controlled by scoundrels, our judicial system is becoming more like what we expect in places like China, Cuba or Venezuela, where political opponents are routinely imprisoned or worse.

Meanwhile, polling doesn't look good for Biden.

Enten then discussed what that might mean for the election. He said that if that shift held to the election, comparing it to 2020, Trump would win 291 electoral votes to Biden's 247. He said the reason why is that would shift Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia to Trump.
This might explain, in part, why Trump has been leading in those battleground states.
"That alone would do it, " Enten explained, saying that's why black voters are so pivotal to Joe Biden's chances.

As with most Trump issues, there will be a blip for a week or so. The bigger question is, a month from now, will it still be an issue? For every other incident (some, in my opinion, worse), the answer has been "no". I don't think it will be different this time.

And if appeals are accelerated enough that these convictions are overturned before the election, I think we'll see a significant, and lasting, boost to Trump’s polls.

All those FED agents that are involved in such travesties need to be arrested without bond (since they are a major flight risk) and tried in those states. At the same time, arrest any member of the admin you can tie to any crime against the State. Immigration is always a good start. Even in states like TX, there are plenty of venues with rabidly blue voters and politicians, so avoid those. Venue shopping is the only way.

I like these "suggestions," too, and they aren't new.

What I don't understand - and don't buy - is that they appear to have some kind of positive *expectations* in this regard.

The GOP will not do this. Not yesterday, not today, not ever. The junior partners of an enterprise do not go after the senior partners. In a crime family it sometimes happens if the junior partner thinks he can get the big prize, but he usually can't and it's rare. The GOP knows better and, importantly, is *happy* with its secondary position.

Indeed. Florida has show how to start with their treatment of Disney. Involvement of woke corporations into local and state elections need to be scrutinized with a fine-tooth comb. Look for ANY violations of election law and hit them with punitive fines, all State level, so no crying to Uncle Biden's Fed court.

Doesn't matter. In a case concerning a state putting term limitations on their congress critters, SCOTUS said that a term limit was an additional qualification to run for office and only the ones in the Constitution count.

Here, the additional qualification would be to have never been convicted of a felony. Only the enumerated qualifications for President count.

Thanks! I wasn't paying attention to the trial, but if indeed there were two lawyers on the jury that in itself is a big red flag. It's rare to see one lawyer on a criminal jury (civil juries are different), let alone two.

Usually, both the defendant and prosecutor don't want lawyers on criminal juries. Lawyers have insider legal knowledge and laypersons generally follow their lead in jury deliberations. That's usually a risk that neither side wants to take.

Usually, both the defendant and prosecutor don't want lawyers on criminal juries. Lawyers have insider legal knowledge and laypersons generally follow their lead in jury deliberations. That's usually a risk that neither side wants to take.

There is a difference, though (at least, so they'd argue). Congress folk aren't elected nationally, whereas Presidents are. So state laws don't add an additional requirement, since other states are not bound by it. If Trump didn't appear on the CA ballot, would it really make a difference? And states apparently do have some leeway in who is allowed on the ballot (the Ohio case, for example, but also any laws requiring a certain level of demonstrated support to be on the ballot).

I suspect the Replacement Party will be blocked and suppressed by the Party because the Party is big enough and powerful enough to do it, but I can't foresee all outcomes.

I mean, I do, but I'd like to see more people take flying leaps at the judicial system that is completely corrupt.

My personal pet peeve, lawyers getting in front of witnesses, and browbeating them to answer the questions the way they ask it. Next time a lawyer says "just answer the question," I'd like to see a witness come back with "why don't you go f**k yourself," and when the judge says "you better answer the question," the witness says "I did already."
