Powerline: Republican AGs Need to Start Arresting and Jailing Democrat Officials, Including Those from Out of State

And prosecute Mark Cuban while you're at it.

Is it just like me or does he have a face that says "uncharged sexual assaults"?

A grotesquely biased jury of Trump-haters, led by a judge who put service to his party above his judicial responsibilities, has returned guilty verdicts against Donald Trump on all 34 counts with which he was--absurdly--charged.

What this shows is that the most important variable in any case is who decides it. Here, the Democrats knew that they could impanel a rabidly anti-Trump jury in Manhattan, so they did so. It is very much like the lawsuit that Michael Mann brought against Mark Steyn and others, of which I observed some of the latter stages. The defendants were properly happy about how the trial had gone, but the facts didn't matter. The Democrats had chosen the right venue, Washington, D.C., and a biased jury found for Mann. Same thing here.

What to do now? First, it is now absolutely essential that Trump be elected president. The Democrats cannot be allowed to get away with this effort to turn America into a banana republic.

Second, the Democrats understand nothing except the raw exercise of power. Therefore, Republican attorneys general and district attorneys should bring criminal charges against Democratic officeholders wherever possible. No Democratic officeholder should be allowed to retire, in any jurisdiction with Republican law enforcement, without facing criminal charges. There can't be a single Democratic official in America against whom a criminal case can't be brought that is better than this case against Trump. It should be open season on Democrats in the criminal courts.

Third, the criminal prosecutions should begin with Joe Biden. Unlike Trump, Biden is actually a criminal. He is already known to be guilty under the federal bribery statute. If Trump wins in November, his Department of Justice should immediately indict Biden, and Biden should be hounded until the day he dies or goes to prison, whichever happens first.

That's a good start. He notes that some, like Biden, will have to be prosecuted on "their home turf," in a blue city like DC.

But why? Republicans need to get serious about passing a law guaranteeing both defendants and prosecutors the right to seek removal to a neutral jurisdiction in politically-charged cases. We cannot continue being hounded in blue city courts while serial Democratic lawbreakers are not even charged because Democratic juries would view them as "a well-meaning old man with memory issues."

He does suggest that Red States begin scanning their laws to see if any bribery cases against Joe or Hunter Biden (or Jim Biden, or the nieces and granddaughters) can be prosecuted in red state courts.

Sean Davis agrees -- and wants the GOP to stop scheming to give tax breaks to the corporations who have gladly enlisted in the Democrats' war on normal citizens:

Sean Davis
@seanmdav

If you're a Republican running for office, you can just go ahead and throw away all of your elegant little policy proposals for this or that corporate exclusion or tax subsidy. Give me a list of which Democrat officials you're going to put in prison, or get lost.

There's only one way to deal with nuclear war, which is what Democrats have unleashed, and that is mutually assured destruction. Democrats declared war on our entire system of justice and the rule of law, and our only options are victory or defeat. I intend to win. Do you?

Enough of the compromised fake Republicans at National Review and Commentary. Man up or get out.

One of my former law partners, a world class trial lawyer, when faced with an adversary who wanted to engage in unprofessional "hardball" litigation tactics would say, "I can play the game; just tell me the rules." The Democrats have made the rules, and their opponents will have little choice but to play the game.

This is not a game that can or will be played by one side only. The rules are now set. When Republicans have the chance, they will play the game. Many, perhaps most, will think that a response is mandatory and that "taking the high road" is no longer an option. Instead, it would be regarded by the "progressive" left -- that is to say those now in charge of the Democratic party -- as weakness if they roll over and fail to respond. This is an existential threat to the stability of our political system and nation. That risk makes this the most dangerous day in the history of the Country, at least in our lifetimes.

Henceforth, weaponization of the justice system against a political opponent will be the norm. Political grudges will be resolved by political opponents in cherry-picked courtrooms where conviction is most likely. All this confirms that when controlled by scoundrels, our judicial system is becoming more like what we expect in places like China, Cuba or Venezuela, where political opponents are routinely imprisoned or worse.

Meanwhile, polling doesn't look good for Biden.

We'll see if that changes. There's a poll that says that if Trump is convicted, Trump will lose a critical amount of support. Biden won't gain any support, but Trump will fall below Biden:

convictionpoll.jpg

That's been a worry that some of us have had for a long time. We'll see if people really change their votes based on this evil political prosecution.

Nick Arama writes more on CNN's poll:

Enten then discussed what that might mean for the election. He said that if that shift held to the election, comparing it to 2020, Trump would win 291 electoral votes to Biden's 247. He said the reason why is that would shift Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia to Trump.

This might explain, in part, why Trump has been leading in those battleground states.

"That alone would do it, " Enten explained, saying that's why black voters are so pivotal to Joe Biden's chances.

Boris Sanchez said "alarms" must be "going off on the Democratic side," as Enten flashed his fingers to signify the alarms.

"It's a huge alarm. It's spiraling. It's ambulance. It's police sirens. It's any alarm you can think of," Enten replied.

The problem is that most of the crimes that Democrats do in office, the graft stuff, is stuff the Republicans do.

It's not a hypocrisy argument, it's a mutually assured destruction argument.

15 I'm still saying that going Full Retard was a bad move by the Democrats. For the truly uninformed it would have been much easier for the idiots to swallow something like 15 counts guilty out of 34 (rather than 34 out of 34). Even idiots watch Law and Order and understand the odds of something like that.

The Dems are going to have to change the narrative and move away from this issue. Red Flag event coming up soon.

As with most Trump issues, there will be a blip for a week or so. The bigger question is, a month from now, will it still be an issue? For every other incident (some, in my opinion, worse), the answer has been "no". I don't think it will be different this time.

And if appeals are accelerated enough that these convictions are overturned before the election, I think we'll see a significant, and lasting, boost to Trump’s polls.

I like these "suggestions," too, and they aren't new.

What I don't understand - and don't buy - is that they appear to have some kind of positive *expectations* in this regard.

The GOP will not do this. Not yesterday, not today, not ever. The junior partners of an enterprise do not go after the senior partners. In a crime family it sometimes happens if the junior partner thinks he can get the big prize, but he usually can't and it's rare. Which will end up in lawsuits like the last time (e.g., what States can and can't do regarding federal elections). I believe quite a few jurisdictions have rules regarding felons. The irony is that quite a few blue states have, over the years in order to boost Dem voters, allow felons to vote. The irony, it burns.

That’s a lot different than the injustice that’s played out here, and is now being understood by most people with a few synapses firing. In fact, people are now seeing this through a personal lens, that is, if they can do this to Trump, they can do this to me- and I can’t afford to fight it. The Democrats have made the rules, and their opponents will have little choice but to play the game.
++++
Their opponents by and large do not have *access* to the game. That's how single-party tyrannies work. The rare outsider who gains access to the game gets treated exactly how the last outsider who gained access to the game is being treated.

There is no opposition party within the game, so none of this is going to happen. What will happen - eventually - is that the game will change entirely, and very very quickly. That's called "collapse" or "war" or "breakup" or various other things.

A game being played only by one team will factionalize, but still won't permit the formation of any new teams. That keeps up until they literally cannot prevent that formation any more, at which point things blows up in spectacular fashion.

146 133 The GOP is between a rock and a hard place. They can dump Trump and replace him with some team player and demonstrate itself to be exactly what it is and lose lots of future support from rubes who give them money, or it can continue to back Trump (half-heartedly, but still) and lose stature within the Party Complex and cut off future opportunities.

They went down with dogs and I hope they enjoy their fleas.

Thanks! I wasn't paying attention to the trial, but if indeed there were two lawyers on the jury that in itself is a big red flag. It's rare to see one lawyer on a criminal jury (civil juries are different), let alone two.

Usually, both the defendant and prosecutor don't want lawyers on criminal juries. Lawyers have insider legal knowledge and laypersons generally follow their lead in jury deliberations. That's usually a risk that neither side wants to take.

253 Thanks!

Personally I see that Trump is becoming his own political party to oppose the Uniparty. The GOP and many of their officeholders are actually hated by their own voters. My best guess is that the GOP is teetering on the edge of death by suicide as a national party much like the US Whig party did.

In the US Whig party case, it was the question of slavery expansion that did them in.

The Dem party, though, is like cockroaches--natural survivors but even there when the gimmedats run out shortly via inflation (implicit default) or outright default (where taxes must meet spending).

Doesn't matter. In a case concerning a state putting term limitations on their congress critters, SCOTUS said that a term limit was an additional qualification to run for office and only the ones in the Constitution count.

Here, the additional qualification would be to have never been convicted of a felony. Only the enumerated qualifications for President count.

There is a difference, though (at least, so they'd argue). Congress folk aren't elected nationally, whereas Presidents are. So state laws don't add an additional requirement, since other states are not bound by it. If Trump didn't appear on the CA ballot, would it really make a difference? And states apparently do have some leeway in who is allowed on the ballot (the Ohio case, for example, but also any laws requiring a certain level of demonstrated support to be on the ballot).

It means, I think, that no one should be obliged to follow his executive orders. All such orders will be illegitimate and should be disregarded, as appropriate. Likewise, residents of the sane states, and their public officials, should be free to disregard rules and orders that come out of the Biden administration’s agencies…
——

How does this guy have an audience? Has he ever even met a Republican office holder or appointee? Has he ever disregarded federal laws at will? Isn’t he a lawyer? How would he plead in court were he on trial for breaking “rules and orders” of the federal government? “I don’t recognize this government’s legitimacy?” Can you imagine a judge’s response? And remember, no Red state possesses exclusively Red judges and law enforcement.

Look, there’s no reform possible in this system. Pretending we can willy-nilly disregard the power of the feds is just that, pretense. As Joe Mannix said above, this can only end with a collapse or breakup.

If not him, then someone else will. The Party will attempt to stop that, and might be successful in doing so and thus remain in unquestioned control until it all falls apart, but time will tell. I suspect the Replacement Party will be blocked and suppressed by the Party because the Party is big enough and powerful enough to do it, but I can't foresee all outcomes.

But that hypothetical new party, successful or not, is not the GOP.

It's not just Catholic organizations. HIAS is a big player in the game, too. For what possible reason beyond money is beyond me because they're bringing middle east types up from the Darien Gap.

I intentionally did not spell out the name of the organization but a quick search and a few minutes at their Wiki page will reveal some disturbing numbers about 'newcomers' they've 'assisted' in recent years. They're a really big player in the game.

Pretty much true of most of Conservative Media including the Fox types. Reason is that they despise GOP base voters as ignorant, racist, low class, etc. as much as Dems do.

The national GOP is essentially a party without reason to exist in office. True in a lot of states as well and you get the problem of RINO governors and Senators in truly red states. The reason is that Dems join with scumbag leftist GOP voters to put a RINO over the top whether in a statewide primary or general election.

See the same thing in Euroland---true conservatives are backstabbed by the Sunaks, the Merkels, etc. in their own party.

Closing the border, stopping trannies, voter id requirements, religious freedom, etc. all have the support of large majorities of the voters. What does the GOP do in office? They surrender to the left even in many red states becuz the corporate CEO's don't like it.
