Outside the courthouse, Trump stated, "Everyone's against this case. Pecker admitted that at the key meeting there was no discussion of a "catch and kill" effort. He also said that the Stormy Daniels story was not part of the August 15 meeting. (This was the line, I believe, that the prosecutors wanted to keep out on the rereading). Pecker confirmed again that there was no discussion of a catch and kill or payment for any stories.

25 I've been involved in numerous jury trials. At least in my jurisdiction, written jury instructions are ALWAYS provided to the jury and a copy is entered into the record. Otherwise, how could an appellate court determine whether the instructions were legally correct?

Well, there is an unspecified campaign finance crime in the mix, since it's not stated which of the myriad US codes for finance violations, the jury cannot decipher what the the elements are because...

A. They were never incorporated into the indictment.

B. Never described during the trial.

C. Nor proffered by The Judge.

So ipso facto the jury literally has to conjure up in their imaginations what the actual crime is.

My felling is that they believe there was fraudulent record entry made to hide a campaign finance crime and all they are doing is covering their asses for a verdict they were ready to deliver the second they entered the jury room.

68 Sounds like to me they are not seeing any evidence Trump knew the payment was for Stormy-- at the time it was entered.

IIRC, the prosecution was also able to time-warp the "knowing" part in their argument/case by claiming that, somehow, if Trump learned later what it was for, that proves he knew what it was for when entered.

Recall, the Judge also denied Trump the well-settled defense of "advice of counsel" for no reason except that it's Trump.
So, they were able to claim the crime was "knowingly" by denying Trump the right to put on testimony that he actually didn't know at all and did what was most prudent: Relied upon his attorney.
You know, the attorney that ... testified against him.
But the judge kept that from the jury.

102 If I was on the jury (I never would have been allowed on by the prosecution or judge, but work with me), I would ask the judge whether in any of the 3 options for the suppsed predicate crimes Trump pled or was found guilty in a court of law to any, and if not and we the jury are supposed to figure out guilt or innocence on the supposed predicate crime, then provide transcripts witness testimony that pertains to each of these supposed crimes. My understanding is there isn't any witness testimony on this, only statements from the prosecution and the judge. I would argue to the other members of the jury that they presented no relevant witnesses and therefore didn't prove their case. Who knows, maybe one of the jurors would agree. If not, this would be further evidence of shamockery of justice.

Question for the people more familiar with the "justice" system. I've seen at least one story in the past where this went the other way. Jury came back with guilty and the judge said "Well, this is bullshit. No reasonable person could have found the defendant guilty." Can it really go the other way? Like, in an ever so slightly less completely bullshit trial.

He wasn't the lone vote, since a 2/3 vote is required for conviction, meaning at least 1/3 +1 of the Senators present voted not guilty, but it was a close thing. One case: a known drug dealer arrested in a sting with a wallet full of money he claimed he was taking to the bank to pay for his gmother's mortgage, at 3am. 1 juror said, but if we send it to a jury, who pays his gmother's mortgage? She understood he was lying, but she still believed that part. Nothing political. She just believed and kept on believing and eventually everybody gave up.

I'm hoping for that juror on Trump's jury.

We’re proximate I think. It’s raining hard now…. After rains earlier this week when I took my normal running route yesterday afternoon I quickly regretted it because the trail was totally flooded in multiple places and I had to step into long grass to get beyond these mega-puddles…. He wasn't the lone vote, since a 2/3 vote is required for conviction, meaning at least 1/3 +1 of the Senators present voted not guilty, but it was a close thing. There used to be a product (still around??) called FDS - Feminine Deodorant Spray. Was advertised during midday soap operas. I was a kid spending a lot of days at my grandparents house when my mom went back to work and my sister and I weren't old enough to stay home by ourselves. My grandmother watched her soaps every day. I could probably still recite some of those commercials verbatim.

Another (Lee Cobb) has his own inner demons because of a falling out with his son and wants to convict based on that. Another just wants to get to a baseball game. Another is a cold, calculating businessman who goes based on facts and when facts dictate otherwise changes his mind. One is a loopy salesman who just wants to chatter. Another is a legal immigrant. The Winnie the Pooh voice guy is meek and gets pushed around. There is an old man who is Henry Fonda's lone supporter when he wants to talk about the case more. Henry Fonda is the white knight (in a white suit) who slowly convinces them there is doubt and then outright injustice. Somewhat ironically, his first arguments for the kid are very liberal talking points about environment and not so much the facts of the case (the kid grew up poor, has been pushed around, etc.; deserves their sympathy). Of course, in the end they figure out he's totally innocent but Fonda's early arguments are more about nature v nurture.

There are two lawyers on the jury, they understand the burden of proof and what elements need to be satisfied to make everything seem legit.

If the jury had requested the judge to tell them what the elements of the campaign finance crime was and what was the actual US or NYS statute code for the exact crime they are inferring, then I would have some hope.

They probably went into the jury room and took an initial poll and it came back 10-2 or 11-1, and they are simply badgering the holdouts at this point.

Again, the trial will more than likely be over tomorrow after one final free lunch on the taxpayers dime.

Alabama, Clemson, Penn State, NCSU, etc. will have advertisements for banks, Coke, Mercedes, etc.
