Former Trump Campaign Spokesman Successfully Primaries National Review-Style "Republican" in Texas Legislative Race

I'm glad to see this guy out of a job.

Don't worry about him -- he'll be headhunted by all the opposition-control grifter organizations. I can see him writing for The Bulwark.

Katrina Pierson, the spokeswoman for former President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, unseated state Rep. Justin Holland on Tuesday in the primary runoff for Texas State House District 33.

Since no Democrat candidate is in the race in the deep-red district, Pierson, who earned the support of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, is the presumptive winner of the general election.

...

Holland, who represented the district since 2017, had been targeted over his vote to impeach Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and failure to support the governor's school voucher program. He also backed legislation last year that would have raised the age to purchase semi-automatic rifles from 18 to 21 years old.

It's time for all these Bush fake Republicans -- these "conscience conservatives" -- to be purged from the party.

If they want to vote for Republicans (which, let's face it, they rarely do), they can do that.

But they can no longer be permitted to work for the Democrats under the GOP banner.

++++
Which says all you need to say about the GOP.

School choice is one of the very, very few (perhaps the *only*) political issue with almost universal appeal. Nobody wants his kids in a failing school and would prefer an opportunity to try to do better. "If you're unhappy with your kids' schools, we want to give you an exit path so your kids can have a better future" is a 100% winning message except among those in the education complex and hardcore progs.

Black, white, male, female, single, divorced, whatever - it's a hugely winning message with even a modicum of care put into crafting it.

And the GOP steadfastly refuses to pursue it.

Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at May 29, 2024 03:29 PM (d04cU)

40 More of this. The democrats do this famously. Find the deepest of the deep dem districts and elect the most lunatic-fringe leftoid to the office where they stay entrenched for decades e.g. Pelosi.

84 Unfortunately, looks like Brandon "The AK Guy" Herrera was unable to pull off a similar upset against anti-2A slug Tony Gonzales in Texas-23. Brandon lost by 407 votes.

I doubt Gonzales will take the warning shot over the bow seriously, given all the third-party contributions his campaign received.

No, he's a war hawk. The vast majority of this country are sick and tired of America butting its nose in all over the planet, but we have two parties who fundamentally agree on perpetual war.

Uh, he is the one who ordered the wind-down and withdrawal from Afghanistan and gave the military a timeline to achieve it - orders and timeline that the DoD flatly ignored under the assumption that Trump would be gone and it would be business as usual.

And Trump is the only president since Nixon who didn't launch any new wars. He took out two targets of opportunity, with narrow goals and specific rationale.

He's not a pacifist, nor should he be. He is not, however, a warhawk. He has demonstrated a significant preference for diplomatic and trade contests rather than military contests.

That was what I was told by David Maxwell, who was head of my law enforcement… Then I went to my first assistant, and I said, we got to fire that guy. And he goes, I can’t. I said, why? He said, because he threatened me. And he said, if I did what you want me to do, if I investigated them, they It’s going to come after me. Like the FBI and Department of Justice are going to come after you.

That’s when the guys in my office filed a complaint against me, saying I had committed a federal crime, but they never said what it was. And then supposedly because of that complaint, they could do whatever they wanted in my office and I couldn’t get rid of them. And that has led to the FBI investigating me, saying that I don’t have the right to fire these people. That’s a federal crime, and now I’ve committed a crime.

Methinks the two lawyers on the jury are not making things any more clear to the laypersons on the jury.

Legalese often seems to mean the exact opposite of what it appears to mean on the surface.

341 So much for all those Chicago Switcheroo scenarios! Political analysts will have to set aside months of speculation about a convention surprise, thanks to the DNC's inability to research state deadlines for ballot access -- and Ohio Democrats' desire for foreign money in ballot-issue campaigns.

At any rate, the net result of this new strategy all but eliminates any convention switcheroo for a failing Biden. Before this plan, the possibility existed (unlikely as it was) that the DNC could change the rules to release all delegates on the first ballot and have a real open convention for the nomination. This "virtual vote" of delegates necessitated by Ohio's ballot-access deadline makes the convention entirely irrelevant, even more so than usual. It's now just a huge anti-climax signifying nothing at all, not even the pro-forma elevation of the nominee. They will have done that in a smoke-filled back room, or maybe more accurately, a vape-filled back Zoom.
