The Torricelli Option Is On the Table: Leftwing Bloomberg Begins Polling Trump v. Kamala Harris, Anticipating a Biden Departure

Hilarious.

Obviously, Trump thumps Kumala.

But why even ask? What are they hearing?

One number I don't like is the tie in Nevada (between Trump and Biden, not Kumala). They're tied at 47%-- but then Trump goes out to a five point lead when RFKJr. and "others" are included. Trump is definitely losing some of his blue-collar white former-Democrat voters to RFKJr.

MXMNews:

Former President Donald Trump is leading Joe Biden in key battleground states, according to the latest Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll. Voters overwhelmingly trust Trump to handle the economy and immigration over Biden.

Key Details:

Trump leads Biden in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.

Top voter issues: economy (35%) and immigration (14%).

Voters trust Trump more on the economy (50% vs. 37%) and immigration (51% vs. 34%).

Reminder:

I don't expect that publicizing this will win back Trump-to-RFKJr. voters, because they're Democrats and probably don't like the Tea Party.

Jim Geraghty considers Biden's line that #ThePollsAreSkewed and wonders: But if they're not skewed...?

Biden's up by a percentage point in Michigan, 46 percent to 45 percent. Perhaps the best news for the president is that this survey shows a tie in Nevada, where previous polling has had Trump ahead, sometimes by a wide margin.

But at the very end of the article, it reads, "The statistical margin of error is plus or minus 1 percentage point across the seven states; 3 percentage points in Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania; 4 percentage points in Michigan, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, and 5 percentage points in Nevada."

Ah. So they barely called any Nevada voters, and the MOE Is large.

He recaps the Biden spin that the polls are skewed, and the claim that there's a Secret Surge for Scranton Joe that the media are hiding.

Does that sound right to you? That the press doesn't want to write about a Democratic incumbent having momentum against Donald Trump?

Now, both nationally and in swing states, there are a lot of pollsters in business. Indisputably, some are better than others. And you can definitely find outliers that have Biden in better shape here and there.

But every pollster has Biden's job-approval rating in lousy shape. This morning, the new national Reuters-Ipsos poll "showed just 36 percent of Americans approve of Biden's job performance as president, down from 38 percent in April. It was a return to the lowest approval rating of his presidency, last seen in July 2022."

If only a bit more than a third of Americans think Biden is doing a good job, would you expect him to have a lot of momentum in the presidential race? Yes, Trump is a deeply flawed candidate, but he's also the most likely alternative.

Ezra Klein is among those on the left side of the aisle trying to sound the alarm for the Biden campaign: "To the extent polls have been wrong in recent presidential elections, they've been wrong because they've been biased toward Democrats. Trump ran stronger in 2016 and 2020 than polls predicted."

Is Biden campaigning like a guy who's well ahead? Maybe Biden's latest round of race demagoguery is standard-issue for the man who told African Americans that Mitt Romney was going to put them back in chains. Does cutting off aid to Israel seem like the kind of move you make when everything's going well? Does the administration's obsession with forgiving student-loan debt suggest confidence in the likely turnout among young voters?

I know that poll posts are as disliked as Disney posts. I'll post another one more quickly than usual.

I don't mind the Disney posts, either. Politics, as they say, is downstream from culture. I think it's important for us to know what's going on in the broader culture.

Disney just happens to be the "face" of culture right now because its tendrils extend all throughout media.

"They could not pursue Hollywood lawyer Kevin Morris as a witness based on information received from the CIA."

In a Wednesday statement, the House Ways and Means Committee wrote that whistleblower documents indicate "In 2021, Assistant U.S. District Attorney Leslie Wolf told investigators they could not pursue Hollywood lawyer Kevin Morris as a witness based on information she received from the CIA. Investigators were never provided the same information that AUSA Wolf received."

"From whistleblower-provided evidence, we know Hunter Biden and his business associates made millions from selling access to Joe Biden and the quote ‘brand’ that is Joe Biden around the world. We know President Biden’s denials of any knowledge or involvement are not true," reads the letter. "We know the Department of Justice tried to undermine, stonewall, and block the investigation into the Biden family, including President Biden."

All in the name of "The Science" related to Covid.

Not spelled out in the NY Post article is who, besides Dr. David Morens, was also involved with stonewalling probes into Covid, but it should be noted he worked under Dr. Fauci from 1998 to 2022. So it would be premature to state that Dr. Fauci was involved with the creation of Covid, beyond funding the research, the subsequent coverup, and that he was the key figure in the death of millions. That would be just wrong as would thinking he should be hung after given Trump style show trial.

75 Does that sound right to you? That the press doesn't want to write about a Democratic incumbent having momentum against Donald Trump?

I think I've seen that line of delusional thinking on DU:

NYT inadvertently indicates that Biden is probably pulling away. The New York Times must have access to some data showing that Biden is starting to pull away (or perhaps that Trump is falling behind), because their Saturday online “front page” is working hard to drag Biden down. Here are the “above the fold” stories up right now:

Headline: In His Beloved Philadelphia, Biden Faces Wariness From Black Voters
Headline: Biden Flipped Georgia in 2020. This Year Could Be Different.
And the top Opinion piece is: Why the Manhattan Trial Is Probably Helping Trump

Sulzberger must be getting nervous….

Sunday morning now, and the top Opinion piece is from Ezra Klein, Seven Theories for Why Biden Is Losing (and What He Should Do About It). The NYT is definitely nervous that this race is turning into a boring and non-profitable landslide.

77 I'm still in the cynical camp of Trump pulling this off, but I have never seen an incumbent President polling this bad since I've been following politics. I also think there is a hidden Trump voter that always seem to come out near the end, so very plausible Trump's lead goes up.

but what most worries me is RFK being in the mix, I just think all those numbers basically need to be discarded. I bet he ends up with like 2-3% of the vote. I just wonder if its a lot of pissed off Democrats because they're mad at inflation making life so expensive that come back into the fold on Election Night.

I think some people are overlooking the fact that rfk came out as a fanatical leftist fan of abortion on demand up to and including partial birth abortion. He is not going to peel away more voters away from trump than he is going to steal from biden.

Granted he tried to walk back those positions later in the week but he left the mask slip and everyone saw his true position on abortion.

Posted by: Mister Scott (Formerly GWS) at May 22, 2024 02:45 PM (QNSds)

121 Nate Silver has been warning the Junta for weeks about Biden being a loser, but he explains why their polling view has some small chance of turning out correct. The Dems argue Bidens weakest polls are with traditional Democrat core groups, the young, unionized workers, and black/hispanic voters. The Biden campaign says those groups are unhappy with inflation and open borders, but when the election happens, they will all vote for Biden.

That's their story. Personally, I think they are dreaming, because those unhappy voters are more likely not to vote at all if they choose not to go full Trump. They sure as hell aren't voting for Biden if they are this unhappy with his performance.

Trump has a decent shot at 312 EC votes, IMO, if the toilets don't leak.

Blacks are afraid to show ID at a polling place because they'll be arrested. And if confronted by an electronic voting machine it's a computer and they don't understand those. So having the DNC fill in and mail in their ballot is the only way to prevent racism. Clear enough?

Posted by: Auspex at May 22, 2024 02:50 PM (j4U/Z)

160 So Bloomberg '...anticipates a Biden departure'?

I can't imagine a possible world where Joe Biden and his power-mad shrew of a wife Jill voluntarily step down. The DNC will need to force him out and such a cutthroat struggle for power can't be done entirely behind the scenes, as was done when Bernie was paid off. Joe's senile, which means he lives in a fantasy world, which means no real-word threat can move him.

So if Joe Biden 'departs' the race, then it will almost certainly be on a stretcher. All it would take to achieve that end would be a slightly modified variant of the amphetamine cocktail they've been dosing him with to make it through public appearances.

Oh, look: a stroke. So sad, too bad. Must be so hard on the family.

“Back then, [Bill Cosby] was known as the ‘whitest black man on television,’” Shearer explained. “Then, a couple of years ago, I received an email saying they’d employed a black actor, who then copied my voice.”

Here’s the best part: “The result is a black man imitating a white man imitating the whitest black man on TV.”

It’s all so stupid.

But this is how rich and prosperous America has become, so rich and prosperous that we have all kinds of time to worry about things that don’t matter. There’s so little racism in America that, in our desire to pretend we’re the equivalent of marching with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., we’re forced to turn non-racism into racism.

A white man respectfully voicing a black cartoon character is the opposite of racism.

------
Trends up or down are about the only thing you can derive from polls right now. One problem, aside from organized cheating, is that you will not know who is registered to vote for Fall 2024 until sometime in the middle to late Sept timeframe. So all person polls give way to registered voter polls and those give way at that time to likely voter polls.

Trump, like Ed Bradley in California, or the shy Tory effect in UK at times, creates problems with likely voter screens because he draws more from disaffected casual or new voters that are not picked up by the standard RDD polling frames. GOP voters are increasingly not willing to answer surveys or phone calls as well. That doesn't matter in a national poll but to get an accurate state poll, it can be very difficult and expensive to get a good random sample.

Because some of the smarter Deep State factions realize that the US is very brittle right now and likely to spiral into some very unpleasant times with scant ability to figure out who will 'win'.

Forcing a small minority into camps etc. is possible because people can reason themselves out of doing anything. Try that on a mass scale of half the population that is also substantially armed is a recipe for tremendous blood letting. That is leaving out the whole nuke issue--in part the Soviet Union died peacefully because no one wanted to get nuked to try to keep leaving states in.

Political types are often stupid looking for the next election hit--deep state types are usually not--they just differ on goals and time tables.

I seem to recall from Rokyo's The Boss something similar in Chicago. The ward boss (or block boss, whatever) would make sure all the local votes were collected (and properly marked), or some such illegal procedure.

The fight on election integrity never moved past Voter ID. The GOP would run on it, maybe implement it from time to time, but ultimately, they never moved beyond it except in individual pockets (DeSantis in FL, for instance).

I think that was by design.

The GOP is definitely in on the cheat as well. They don't want clean elections. Voter ID was a small fight that didn't affect much because most of the cheat isn't done by individuals voting for someone else at a polling station.

247 The first crewed test flight of Boeing's long-delayed Starliner spacecraft won't take off as planned Saturday and could face a longer postponement as engineers evaluate a stubborn leak of helium from the capsule's propulsion system.

NASA announced the latest delay of the Starliner test flight late Tuesday. Officials will take more time to consider their options for how to proceed with the mission after discovering the small helium leak on the spacecraft's service module.

The space agency did not describe what options are on the table, but sources said they range from flying the spacecraft "as is" with a thorough understanding of the leak and confidence it won't become more significant in flight, to removing the capsule from its Atlas V rocket and taking it back to a hangar for repairs.

Theoretically, the former option could permit a launch attempt as soon as next week. The latter alternative could delay the launch until at least late summer.

Some interesting work is occurring below the media attention. Essentially third party groups are now suing in multiple jurisdictions in federal court forcing states to clean up voting rolls. Even Obama judges are reluctantly having to order SoS offices to comply because the law is clear with no wiggle room.

You can also participate at the local level by joining local groups and challenging absentee ballots being sent to non residential addresses as invalid voter registrations which create a paper record forcing localities to address that or be sued in federal court under HAVA.

Removing Ronna and her useless excuses for workers is also important because the RNC has the legal standing in a lot of cases for election lawfare that individuals simply do not.

Even playing funny games with Dominion is unlikely to go well as once attention is on things like network logs, data transmissions, etc. then it makes fraud more obvious

325 On election day, go to the voting station at which you're registered (check your voter registration status to find out where you're registered).
Show your green, bar-coded, Voter ID book or a temporary identification certificate to the voting officer.
The voting officer checks that your name appears on the voters' roll. If you are not on the voters' roll, but have proof that you have registered (e.g. registration sticker), the Presiding Officer must validate your proof of registration. If he/she is satisfied with the proof, you must complete a form and will then be allowed to continue as an ordinary voter.
Once the voting officer is satisfied that you have the correct ID, are a registered voter and have not already voted, your name is marked off the roll, your ID is stamped on the second page and your thumbnail is inked.
The voting officer stamps the back of the official ballot papers and gives it to you.
Take your ballot sheet to an empty ballot booth, mark the ballot paper, fold it so that your choice isn't visible and place the ballot paper in the ballot box.

Parties and voters don't really act like that. It is just that in most cases, the less wealthy view Gubmint as big daddy with a wallet in normal times. Inflation though is making Big Daddy's money worthless and bringing in new faces to share in the looting of the taxpayer is not exactly popular from the older gimme dats.

The older established gimme dats are the ones that run the fraud at the ground level. They sit on their ass and Dems lose--it is as simple as that.

355 328 What's most disturbing is we really should be leading across the board by double digits. Republican Party is really going to need to do some retooling if the worst President in the last 40 years is basically within the margin of error.

I know everyone wants to blame "fraud" for why Republicans dont win every single election, but our issues are showing up in polling. Even with a major headwind with Dems having the worst candidate in the last 100 years, it's a horserace.
Posted by: Blago
-------
You won't like the retooling--essentially it is a complete repudiation of the GOP platform since Reagan. No cheap labor, higher taxes on the 20 percent or so investor class, high tariffs, forcing ends to indentured servitude H1B hires, and relinquishing world wide reach by shrinking our active military and its budget. Essentially, a large army needs to become a small cadre force and more money spent on navy and air force for force projection.

Although they'd never admit it in public, there are some upsides for the Dems if Trump is "allowed" to win. They can foist all the blame for FJB's screwups going forward on Trump, rather than FJB. Then they can continue to use the Deep State to keep Trump from having any measurable effect on the country. Slows down the destruction a bit, but doesn't stop it at all.

To be fair, a lot of what he says does get mischaracterized, on purpose.

Personally, I think there are people still stuck in the two-party paradigm, and think he somehow doesn't deserve to be considered honestly.

My thing is simple: He's a classic liberal Democrat, which means even when he's right on issues, and he is right on some, his solution is going to be more government.

It's a fatal flaw in the mindset, one he shares with most of the Republican Party too, but that's another discussion for another day.

The donor class is fine with trannies, sexual perverts, human trafficking, importing cheap labor when you cannot outsource it, loving on China trade, endless wars, refusing to reform institutions like higher ed, the bureaucracy, the military, the judiciary, and so on.

All the GOP donor class wants is to Invade the World and Invite the World and cheap taxes for them. Plus lots of grift from FedGov.

I despise them and yet I recognized that they have clear majorities in the House and Senate in the GOP caucuses. So, I have turned all of my care and attention to my home patch and don't give much of a damn about politics beyond the local and at times state level.

At least back in the days of Rome when your army got wiped out it might take a few Senators and their kids out with it, since they insisted that the elites lead from the front.

415 I think there is a faction of the wealthy and powerful that have decided they are going to take on the current ruling faction of the wealthy and powerful, because they have concluded the current faction is dangerous - and bad for business. So we are basically having a wealthy "mob" war. And this time the rest of us have a stake in the outcome.

Venice and its slide into civil and political warfare among the Guelphs and Ghibbelines comes to mind. The common people were used as footsoldiers for the two parties along with known thugs, etc. John Adams has an interesting historical take on them in his Defense of the Constitutions of the United States series which really should be rated as one of the more important works of the Founders than it is.

Madison gets better press but Adams was more prescient than either Madison or Hamilton.

Yes, lead from behind, do as I say, not as I do, and other such dubious 'virtues' like sexual deviancy and infidelity constitute our ruling class in the West.

But the ancient Greeks predicted that when republics die, it is the fault of the ruling aristos not being able to restrain their appetites.

418 wth: "Anybody voting for RFK Jr. should get their hearing checked."

BurtTC: "To be fair, a lot of what he says does get mischaracterized, on purpose..."

However (mis)characterized, one literally needs to get their hearing checked. I think that's where wth was going. Can a nation survive that gravel on a chalkboard throat scraping for four years?

419 That Math doesn't make ANY sense...
Margin of error in three of seven states is Three Points.
Margin of error in three of seven states is Four points.
Margin of error in One of seven states is Five points.
But margin of error over all seven it is only ONE point???
Average them it is 3.7%
I have worked in Politics, have NEVER seen any poll with a 1% margin of error...never. Very seldom if ever is there even an actual election with only a 1% margin of error.

421 Did anyone poll the people that count the votes? because those are the people that matter

422 "Didn't they find that in Miami (?) they were not even mailing them ... some ward boss would come around and collect them? It was something illegal like that, but was a long term practice."
What happened was that the DC/NYC/National Dems flew in and took over from the locals in the last several days in the Miami area, they still hosted the annual "Vote Party" get togethers, fed them all breakfast, lunch, or dinner, loaded all of the oldsters from the condo canyons onto busses and drove them en masse to the pols..but... The ballots lines/listings order had been altered, by the local Dem Election chief, and the palm cards the National Dem bigwigs handed out to "Vote by the numbers" had the seniors voting for Buchanan rather than Gore
