It really does look that way.

It was clearly painted by someone in a studio that had only passing familiarity with the outdoors and had maybe seen a tree and silo from a distance. No one is tending to those fields, but there are no weeds or brambles as far as the eye can see.

Come, chickens! We're going for a walk three miles from our farm! Look, here's a perfect spot to lie down!

No. That would be appropriate only if you ran out of coffee.

For something minor like this, the right thing to do is to make an angry and resentful Tik-Tok video about it where you rail against an unfair world and blame someone else - preferably someone you haven't even met or, at least, haven't seen for at least five years - for causing the problem.

110 Heh. Was watching Antiques Roadshow recently (don't judge!) and during their Anchorage stop a gal brought in a Bob Ross painting of the Northern lights. Estimated value at auction: $30,000 and he said that's conservative.

-

People don't really appreciate what he did for art and for families. Not only did he introduce people to art as a hobby, but think about grandkids growing up and having families of their own, living daily with a cherished painting of a mountain or vase of flowers hanging in their living room, a physical reminder of their now-passed grandmother or grandfather. And it was because Bob Ross had a goofy TV show.

Thank you Bob Ross. You were a giant and we thank you for it.

He really seemed like a genuinely nice dude. He did an episode in direct response to a letter he received from a colorblind person who told him that he loved watching the show, because he could vicariously create art that he couldn't see.

So Bob Ross did an entire episode with nothing but gray paints, to teach that person (and others like him, of course), that being colorblind didn't mean they couldn't paint.

(for anyone unfamiliar, a popular online trend right now is for women to be asked if they'd rather be trapped in the woods with a bear or a man and the response is usually "bear" in order to virtue signal to their fellow women while reminding men that they are disliked and distrusted)

The man was asked bear or woman and he said bear.

"I could probably survive being around a bear, but my wife would kill me if she found out I was alone in the woods with another woman."

In addition, around 30-40% of Rafah is now under IDF control, not merely a small portion of the eastern sector, and about 60-70% of Rafah has been completely evacuated. The remaining Rafah civilians, estimated at around 300,000-400,000, are almost all near the Gaza coast Tel al-Sultan area. This is despite US predictions that the civilian population could not be evacuated without a huge death count or without leaving around four months to do so.

.. of course, the Biden Administration would flub the evacuation estimate as they are famous for screwing up evacuations

272 Out in the Country, Gertrude Abercrombie - Too sterile for a landscape and if it's goal was surreal, she should have gone for it. Pretty colors; wouldn't hang. Not familiar with the artist so thanks for the lesson.

Facebook, Whitney Museum of American Art, February 17, 2021
"I am not interested in complicated things nor in the commonplace. I like and like to paint simple things that are a little strange" said Gertrude Abercrombie, who was born on this day in 1909. "My work comes directly from my inner consciousness and it must come easily,"

Chicago-based and central to its bohemian scene, a lover of cats and jazz, and a friend of Dizzy Gillespie, Abercrombie was a painter of the intimate and surreal. This painting, entitled Out in the Country, suggests a worldview that accommodated lounging women, ominous clouds, spooky trees, and working farms, all at the same time. This was surrealism that luxuriated in its regionalism and her own sense of self.

Your culture is toxic and has not only destroyed your own families and communities but is spreading out into the rest of the nation's. Your fatherless children are ignorant and aimless and violent, seeking guidance and finding none, and then abruptly finding it all at once. Which you lament even though you pushed your babies into the arms of those father figures. You husbandless voters wreck everything you touch, with no stake in the game and often an inability to read the street signs to get you to the polling place.

Money can't help what is broken. Matter of fact, it was taking the money that broke it. You're stuck. I want all the best for you and I can tell you how to work the lock, but we can't help you from out here. You've got to solve the trap you entered from the inside.

333 Every country can have borders but for US, it seems:

CNBC, 5 hours ago: Finland calls on EU to help prevent ‘weaponized’ migration from Russia

Finland called on the European Union to help prevent what it calls “instrumentalized” or “weaponized” migration at its border with Russia.

Finland has closed its borders with Russia in recent months, accusing the country of deliberately sending undocumented asylum seekers to its border in order to try to destablize the country, a new NATO member. Moscow denies the accusation.

On Tuesday, the Finnish government submitted a proposal to parliament on a new border security law that would allow border agents to prevent migrants who are seen as “instruments of influence” from entering from Russia.

“It is the government’s duty to ensure the security of the borders, Finland and Finns in all situations,” Prime Minister Petteri Orpo told a news conference, in comments reported by Reuters.

“Unfortunately the EU legislation does yet not provide us with effective tools to tackle the problem. I hope our work will pave the way for European level solutions,” he added.
