Lying Corrupt Regime Government Finally Admits: You Bet Your Ass We Ordered the Gain-of-Function Code Red in Wuhan

An official at the NIH has admitted the obvious: Fauci and Francis Collins did in fact fund gain-of-function research at Wuhan.

At long last, National Institutes of Health (NIH) principal deputy director Lawrence Tabak admitted to Congress Thursday that US taxpayers funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China in the months and years before the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Dr. Tabak," asked Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.) of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, "did NIH fund gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology through [Manhattan-based nonprofit] EcoHealth [Alliance]?"
"It depends on your definition of gain-of-function research," Tabak answered. "If you're speaking about the generic term, yes, we did."

The response comes after more than four years of evasions from federal public health officials -- including Tabak himself and former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director Dr. Anthony Fauci -- about the controversial research practice that modifies viruses to make them more infectious.
Tabak added that "this is research, the generic term [gain-of-function], is research that goes on in many, many labs around the country. It is not regulated. And the reason it's not regulated is it poses no threat or harm to anybody."
Dr. Bryce Nickels, a professor of genetics at Rutgers University and co-founder of the pandemic oversight group Biosafety Now, told The Post the exchange "was two people talking past each other."
"Tabak was engaging in the usual obfuscation and semantic manipulation that is so frustrating and pointless," Nickels said, adding that the NIH bigwig was resisting accountability for risky research that can create pathogens of pandemic potential.

He continues supporting Fauci's nonsense distinction between "general gain-of-function" and gain-of-function specifically designed to make a virus infectious for humans. Fauci always lies and claims there's no "gain of function" being funded, but he's relying on this b***shit distinction. He defines "gain of function" to mean a specific kind of gain of function, and then says he's not funding gain of function.

And please do note, he never says that he is employing a narrow definition of gain of function. He just states with no caveat or narrowing of definition that he's not funding gain of function, period.

Perjuring himself. Repeatedly.

And now this Dr. Tabak says well, sure, if you're talking about "general gain of function, we did do that."

Obama banned Fauci from doing gain of function research. So during the Trump transition, Fauci rewrote the definition of gain of function to be a narrow one, and then began funding gain of function. He repeatedly lied under oath in claiming he didn't fund gain of function, and he never even said that he was talking about "Gain of function, as I personally define it." He claimed he wasn't funding gain of function at all, under any definition.

Update: Commenters are telling me this happened during the transition -- but under Obama. Ben Had writes, "Dec 19, 2017 ban lifted on gain of function."

By the way, this distinction is entirely fraudulent because when you start deliberately mutating viruses, you cannot predict what the result will be. It's a genetic toss of the dice every time. So every "serial passage" through a humanized mouse has a good chance of, of course, making the virus infectious to humans.

It's like swearing you never broke a window and then later admitting you did throw a stone at the window, but you secretly hoped that the stone would just bounce off the window and leave it intact, and you were surprised to see it break, so by your definition, you never actually broke the window at all.

No intent, your honor! We never wrote down on a piece of paper that we hoped to create a highly infectious new disease!

Fauci knows this. He knows his "definition" is entirely a lie and it was something contrived to allow him to break the law against funding gain-of-function with the plausible deniability of a technical semantic defense.

He is a murderer and a perjurer. We cannot convict him for his millions of murders, but we can convict him of his dozens of perjuries.

This vicious malignant dwarf must spend the rest of his golden feather-bedded years in a federal prison. He spent his whole working life in the federal system; he should die there too.

My grandpa suffered a severe stroke three months into the pandemic, and died three months after that.

Probably he didn't have long in any case, but I am convinced that what finished him off so quickly was the nursing home keeping him isolated and barely letting any of us see him. To the bitter end, they blamed it on not enough people "masking up."

My mom was in a nursing home at the time. Only visits we could get was no more than 1 hour a week through a window while we stood >10 feet away. Oh, and constantly observed by nursing home staff. She had a little dog (shitzu mix) she loved dearly. One time my father tried handing him through the window to her so she could have a little moment of joy. We got caught. They threatened to revoke visiting privileges forever and/or kicking her out of the nursing home.

Not very Christian of me, but "anger" and "hate" aren't even strong enough of words for what burns inside me for what was done by these evildoers.

I remember in 2002 many nurses were going around to schools and advising staff and teachers about the danger of the coronavirus. But it was a big nothing, despite George Bush in office. Maybe it was 9/11 the year before and they were still standing with him.

Somehow, the virus got tinkered with in such a fashion that the original which would infect 1 person in a million (my wild guess) would end up infecting about 1 out of 5 in this country.

you'd be surprised. Also, there are Easy Readers for all of the main languages. The readers use lots of cognates and simplified language. They kind of trick you into thinking you speak the language. They're confidence-builders and great ways to get familiar with a language. Overcoming the barrier of a language feeling completely foreign and inscrutable is a big thing. Once it's more like a World Jumble puzzle, it's easier.

Oh and DuoLingo is a good, not great, totally free program that will get you to a very basic familiarity with a language

My experience is different. My next door neighbor was almost 90, his brain was pretty fried. His daughter came to live with him six months before as he approached death, they all knew. He contracted covid and died. His daughter caught covid and spent a few days in the hospital. His two sons contracted covid and it was no biggy for them.

I'm not trying to be insensitive, honestly, but once-upon-a-time, when a 90 year old who everyone knew was dying died they'd say it was old age. If you're 90 and you die, does the specific mechanism which offed you really matter?

Well, you could say he died 'with covid' as opposed to saying it was the precipitating cause. If not for the fact that I talked to his sons and daughters who also contracted it, I would have assumed on hearing of his death that nature basically took its course.

I think I've heard of Doctors who say, "Even a cold would kill him/her now."
