Shock: Corrupt Partisan "Judge" Merchan's Democrat Operative Daughter Worked on the Campaign to Get Trump Kicked Off the Colorado Ballot

This judge has allowed a ton of unduly prejudicial "prior bad acts" falsified testimony from Sloppy Daniels, and allowed the prosecution to proffer "Choose Your Own Adventure" charges against Trump, with three different and contradictory legal theories. The judge said, that's fine.

But he's not biased.

It's just that his daughter is making bank working to get Trump kicked off of every ballot and prosecuted for non-crimes.

Dem operative daughter of NYC judge in Trump trial aided effort to kick Trump off Colorado ballot: report

The Brennan Center for Justice filed an amicus brief in support of the Supreme Court rejecting Trump's appeal of the Colorado Supreme Court's decision to remove him from the ballot.

Authentic Campaigns, the digital marketing and fundraising agency run by the daughter of the judge overseeing the falsified business records case against Trump, has been revealed to have worked with a group that has sought to take Trump off the ballot.

Loren Merchan's company worked with the Brennan Center for Justice, highlighted on the company's "Our Work" page. The Brennan Center for Justice filed an amicus brief in support of the Supreme Court rejecting Trump's appeal of the Colorado Supreme Court's decision to remove him from the ballot, Natalie Winters reported for War Room.

"The brief urges the Court to reject Trump's attempts to revive the independent state legislature theory on appeal," the Brennan Center wrote. The push to remove Trump ultimately failed in the high court, with the justices ruling 9-0 in favor of keeping him on the ballot.

The center is still listed as an active client, with Authentic Campaigns appearing to have worked with the center since at least 2023. Authentic Campaigns said it has "boosted the organization's newsletter subscribers by 300K new names, a 204% increase" and "seamlessly integrated diverse platforms and mediums to expand the Brennan Center's reach."

More at the article. His daughter, I'm sure, gets a cut of every dollar donated to the prosecute Trump campaigns. No one works for these grifter organizations to remain poor.

Mechan claims this doesn't technically required him to recuse himself, as the law only specifies that a spouse with an interest in a case is disqualifying. This is his daughter, so it's obviously completely different.

Given the intense partisan interest in the case and the huge political implications of the trial, any actually non-conflicted judge would, in these circumstances, recuse himself simply to avoid the appearance of conflict.

Instead, Mechan fights like hell to remain the judge on the case, whereas a man who really had no personal interest in the case would simply recuse himself so that the trial would have no taint.

That's extremely suspicious. Tainting a case with the stench of corruption is only worth it if you're going to profit from it.

Kickbacks -- they're not just for Fani Willis!

It wouldn't be different if it were the other way around, of course.

And it isn't different in reality, either. This such an obvious and enormous gap in the law that I suspect it was probably intentional. But that is beside the point, it's obviously a conflict even if there's no law mandating that it is.

I'd say that this judge should be ashamed, but the Party knows no shame.

Profit depends entirely on what one values.

Is Merchan making money on this, or is his daughter? His daughter certainly is. No clue about him. But he might not care. Not everyone is in it for the money. Many are in it for power, influence, status or boot-licking. Merchan might not be making much if any money on this, but he's *profiting* big time no matter what. It all depends on his inner motivations, which I don't know.

But he is surely profiting. No reason to do this otherwise.

It's very hard if not impossible to get a NY judge recused in a case. All NY judges are elected to finite terms and thus yugely political animals. And the politics at least in NYC is overwhelmingly leftist. Almost all NYC judges have connections to Democrap politics and organizations and activist groups. Many of the younger judges literally came out of leftwing activist groups.

I've had judges judge my case where they literally were once employed by the opposing party or its affiliate. No matter. The judges not only stayed on the case, they fucked my client in the ass. 100% pure partisan scumbaggery.

"Of course the corrupt court found me guilty. It's what Democrats, put innocent men in jail. Has been true of some trial judges for some time.
That is the reason that jury trials were instituted. Unfortunately, jury consultants now figure out how to stack juries in their favor and crooked clerks manipulate the assigned judge and jury summonses. Random my ass in many case.

The easiest way is to go back to juries to determine both law and fact and sideline judges.

The runaway grand jury in the fake electors case in Arizona is going to be a massive embarrassment to that state's legal reputation just as the Fani escapades in GA destroyed the state and its lawyers reputation and made them laughingstocks on TV. NY has already crapped on its legal reputation via the ridiculous lawfare Trump cases but even the Daniel Penny case indicates lawfare malice towards normies in favor of politics.

Essentially, our legal system is breaking down and the leftists running the establishment have no idea what occurs after the legal system is seen to be a fount of injustice. France after the Revolution and Germany post WWII are illustrative of what happens to bad judges.

The vague connection and why other prosecutors took a pass on the case is that Trump somehow manipulated the 2016 election by failing to disclose his payments to Cohen for hush money. Of course they overcharged him with a ridiculous number of counts based on each payment to Cohen. That is so the jury can find Trump guilty of one and feel they are being merciful by cutting the number down.

Now, the statute in question is a state statute that does not apply under plain reading to apply to federal cases and likely even if it did, the FEC's statutory power probably exhausts any attempt by NY to pursue FECA violations in state courts.

159 How would juries make findings on pure legal issues?
Posted by: Biff Pocoroba
--------
Judges used to advise juries in states but the jury could ignore the judge on points of law. Works better on criminal trials than it would for civil trials.

Explicitly, I would allow juries to make the decision of nullifying prosecutions and for a judge to act as circuit breaker to stop a runaway jury from convicting an honest man.

Another solution that other countries use is three judge panels for trials. The fact that one of the three might highlight crap that the others do lessens the risk of a runaway judge.

Yes. And the judge to be the circuit breaker to set aside the conviction.

A lot of our case law is littered with minute specifications of what the jury can and cannot hear so that the role of the judge as gatekeeper for information including legal information becomes much more important. Essentially, I trust twelve over one individual judge now. Just like all the other professions, lawyers no longer deserve the deference to their profession and all judges nowadays are lawyers (except in some states as very low level magistrates and such).

I would also end criminal grand juries at the state level by substituting open pre trial hearings or have a neutral party preside over grand jury proceedings rather than prosecutors.

211 IANAL but Art. III is pretty short. You're gonna have to show me where it says SCOTUS can remove a state judge.
Posted by: I used to have a different nic at May 14, 2024 01:43 PM (U7wke)

Short but to the point - you can't set up your own state judicial system outside the US Constitution, period. If you attempt to do so, the Supreme US judicial system, ie the USSC, have authority rights over any such system, and can require the removal and replacement of such state or territorial judicial system for one that does follow the US Constitution. No one disputes its clear meaning. If that means you have to remove all jurists in that system to comply to such a SCOTUS order, then you have to remove them.

There's room for *all* victims of the patriarchy. Hierarchies are white supremacist patriarchal constructs, and your attempt to bait me into ranking artificial ranking lists of the multifarious victims of the oppressive power structure - all of whom have different circumstances, lived experiences, obstacles and traumas - is just your own attempt to cover up the sins of a perpetuated patriarchy. I will not permit your wedge-driving attempt to womanwash the problems all women face.

241 A lot of our case law is littered with minute specifications of what the jury can and cannot hear so that the role of the judge as gatekeeper for information including legal information becomes much more important. Essentially, I trust twelve over one individual judge now. Just like all the other professions, lawyers no longer deserve the deference to their profession and all judges nowadays are lawyers (except in some states as very low level magistrates and such).

Are you saying that the jury would also determine admissibility of evidence? In other words, let anything and everything in, no matter how irrelevant, and trust a jury to sort it all out?
