But he's not biased. It's just that his daughter is making bank working to get Trump kicked off of every ballot and prosecuted for non-crimes.More at the article. Mechan claims this doesn't technically required him to recuse himself, as the law only specifies that a spouse with an interest in a case is disqualifying. Loren Merchan's company worked with the Brennan Center for Justice, highlighted on the company's "Our Work" page. "The brief urges the Court to reject Trump's attempts to revive the independent state legislature theory on appeal," the Brennan Center wrote. The center is still listed as an active client, with Authentic Campaigns appearing to have worked with the center since at least 2023. Authentic Campaigns said it has "boosted the organization's newsletter subscribers by 300K new names, a 204% increase" and "seamlessly integrated diverse platforms and mediums to expand the Brennan Center's reach."

The NYS Appeals court said today that his unconstitutional gag order was just fine, but don't worry, if you're concerned that the NYS judicial system has veered into a ditch, everything will obviously return to normal for all our lower court procedures for all you normal NYS folks once Trump is convicted...or jailed.

Mike Pometrantz is the prosecutor that behind closed doors in Congressional testimony pleaded the fifth amendment when asked if he ever violated citizens rights in his prosecutions. He also wrote a book about his time when he was brought in to help on this Trump “investigation”. It’s pretty damning of the prosecutors though he didn’t intend it that way.

Um. No, the USSC has power over ALL judicial branches, both state and federal, as per the US Constitution. This was to prevent citizens from being tried in a state court in Montana for things that are perfectly legal that a state court found offensive only in Michigan - chaos would erupt and thus wipe out the rights of normal citizens. You are not out of reach of being found to in contempt of the Bill of Rights or US Constitution just because a bunch of commie yahoos in the lower west side of Manhattan elected you to the bench...

Explicitly, I would allow juries to make the decision of nullifying prosecutions and for a judge to act as circuit breaker to stop a runaway jury from convicting an honest man.
Another solution that other countries use is three judge panels for trials. The fact that one of the three might highlight crap that the others do lessens the risk of a runaway judge.

Short but to the point - you can't set up your own state judicial system outside the US Constitution, period. If you attempt to do so, the Supreme US judicial system, ie the USSC, have authority rights over any such system, and can require the removal and replacement of such state or territorial judicial system for one that does follow the US Constitution. No one disputes its clear meaning. If that means you have to remove all jurists in that system to comply to such a SCOTUS order, then you have to remove them.

My mom worked from age 17 to when she retired at 55. I was a key latch kid . In our case , I know things would have turned out for the worse if that wasn’t the case. I was an only child though so that made it easier.

A lot of our case law is littered with minute specifications of what the jury can and cannot hear so that the role of the judge as gatekeeper for information including legal information becomes much more important. Essentially, I trust twelve over one individual judge now. Just like all the other professions, lawyers no longer deserve the deference to their profession and all judges nowadays are lawyers (except in some states as very low level magistrates and such).
