The Brothers of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at UNC Protected the American Flag from Anti-American, Pro-Terrorist Activists.
People Have Sent Them Almost $400,000 for a Party.

Down with the Uglies.

UNC fraternity brothers seen protecting U.S. flag in viral photo raise $384k for "the party they deserve"

Quick Hit:

A group of fraternity brothers from the University of North Carolina (UNC) have raised over $384,000 after a viral photo showed them protecting the U.S. flag during a protest. The funds, raised through a GoFundMe campaign, are intended to throw the fraternity "the party they deserve."

Key Details:

The fraternity brothers, members of Pi Kappa Phi, intervened when Palestinian protestors attempted to replace the U.S. flag with a Palestinian one.

Their actions were captured in a viral photo, leading to a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $384,000.

The funds are intended to throw the fraternity brothers a party, as a reward for their actions.

The GoFundMe is pretty funny:

The $400k "Phi Kappa Phi Rager" GoFundMe page has solid copywriting:

"Armoured in Vineyard Vines and Patagonia, fuelled by Zyn and White Claws, these triumphant Brohemians protected Old Glory from the unwashed Marxist hordes."

"A party worthy of boat-shoed Broleteriat."

How angry is the left that it's a bunch of white bros who are the heroes of the campus riots?

Does this mean something? Is this a moment that indicates something bigger brewing?

Compare them to this Uggo:

Clarification: That is overdubbed video from Uggo's press conference before the raid. She really demanded that Columbia provide food and water to the hostile building-seizers. She did not specify anything about pizza or gluten allergies. That's overdubbed audio.

I thought everyone would remember the video, but I guess they missed it.

Dolley and I went uptown to eat for the first time since moving to the Charlotte area. We went to a converted industrial railroad area that is now an open-air shopping center type thing.

We were sitting down to eat our food when some woman started announcing that there would be bubbles (real bubbles, not fake bubbles) in five minutes. She was then joined by two others who put on New Age music and spun around until we left with bubbles. There was also some coordinated dancing when the bubbles ended. It was terrible.

I was mostly glad that I had sat with my back to them.

My son and a couple of his buddies rented in a college town. Their lease was running out their final year and they called me in to make repairs. Apparently "drywall repairs after drunken angry nights of drinking" was not part of their curriculum.

They were amazed that someone could actually repair a hole in the wall that someone had punched their fist through.

We live in a mostly retirement community (with a lot of large & empty second homes -- for those planning to eventually retire here and/or escaping hotter summers elsewhere) near a prestigious private aeronautical college.

So they are often rented out at a pretty good premium to groups (maybe 4 - 6) of wealthier students attending that college for the non-summer school year.

You are experiencing perspective distortion, you are used to women in photos and movies, and you fail to realize those are one in 100,000 tens you're looking at.

Women's appearance follows a bell shaped curve like IQs: a five looks better than 50% of women. A 6 is better looking than 84% of women, a seven is better looking than 99% of women. One woman in a thousand is an 8, one in 10,000 a 9, that is the IQ equivalent of 160. That girl is absolutely a 9, she is probably better looking than any woman you've ever actually met.

Sharon, I'm guessing here, but it might be that "pedal-pushers" were popular among young women in the early Sixties for exactly that, bike riding. A skirt could be awkward on a two-wheeler. Might want to rethink that one though. Colleges and university enrollment has been slumping since Covid due to demographics and escalating cost/benefits of attending, especially for males.

In a sense, we overbuilt the higher ed apparatus in the US over the last forty years because of the reaction to Griggs v. Duke Power case. But, now, even the screening value of a college diploma has become worthless to many employers and Griggs itself is on shaky ground constitutionally these days (Disparate impact was an statutory interpretation case based on the CRA of 1964--it was not a case involving constitutionality of the CRA) so the Court is free to clip that particular notion based on statistics rather than individuals using the equal protection clause.

They did something similar a few years back regarding the emergency clause of the VRA.

A lot of conservative money has been sitting on the sidelines because Conservative Inc has turned into a grafting machine. Under such circumstances, better to reward those unexpectedly than those that come around proactively begging like WinRed.

Ditto for campaign contributions--give to individual pols that show courage, good sense, etc. when they show it rather than who the CONServative apparatus tries to get you to send money to.

Obama hates Biden, but he's been backed into a corner by how awful Kamala is. So their best play is to armor the Deep State as much as possible and let Trump win. It clears the decks of both Joe and Kumala and the Dems don't take the hit from black women about dumping Kamala.

The Civil Rights era was an example of how statutes meant to address an emergency in the current society become an depressing dead weight in the future. Griggs, itself, applied to Duke Power's policy of only hiring those with a high school diploma to be a lineman. Suddenly, after Griggs, disparate impact was used to challenge measures based on behavior that had racial differences. The latest insanity based on Griggs is trying to expunge the effect of criminality in rent and jobs by the EEOC because it reflect poorly on certain demographics. Same for illegal status now.

408 If these guys really want to win the PR war against the racist Democrats, they should announce they will match donations up to $100,000 given to four of their philanthropy charities.

Announce a GoFundMe for Special Olympics and say that if people will donate $100,000 in the next three days, then the fraternity will add another $100,000 for disabled children.

Make the optics: Violent, racist Democrats blocking Jewish students from attending classes versus Republicans putting smiles on the faces of children with disabilities!

Cost is why. The Big Band era ended in part because of escalating labor costs during the 50's inflation, jazz and rock were the beneficiaries. The current crap is because most of the pop music is now fake digital instruments on a computer and the extensive use of autotune and voice enhancement made easy means quite lousy singers can be used to front a show.

The result is that people with beautiful natural voices are not needed because today's yutes have become used to hearing crappy vocals with obvious autotuning since the 00's.

Karen Carpenter and Julie Andrews and their tremendous natural singing skills need not apply anymore.

I was at a wake for a 24-year-old nephew that died of cancer. His friends decided to have a jam band. I noticed all the songs they played were...old. Everything pre-2010. Hell, a bunch of it from my youth in the 1970s. I asked why. They basically said all modern music is unplayable. It's also not any "fun".

The best music used to have terrible singers. Or is "Louie Louie" well sung? Hell, music used to not even be well played, not all the time. What music had was emotions.
It was spirted, fun, anger, love. New music...has no feeling. Just droning thumping.
