But that says more about their voters than them. They've come along to the point where the Party can do this, and Democrats on the street are just like "yup, uh huh... From the river to the sea, death to the Jews, death to America, allahu Akbar, nice job, Brandon. Love is love!"

76 >>It's about damn time. Some Jan. 6 rioters win early release, even before key Supreme Court ruling

A former federal prosecutor turned defense lawyer named Bill Shipley, aka @shipwreckedcrew, who has been representing dozens of J6 defendants on donations has been saying this for months. These charging enhancements brought by the corrupt DOJ never should have applied to the J6 defendants. It was just more corruption by the DOJ.

A big bonus is that these charges are also at the heart of Jack Smith's case against Trump. If they get tossed for the J6ers they get tossed for Trump.

I know times are tight for almost everyone but if you can spare a buck or two Shipley's defense fund is a worthy cause.

It’s only potentially smart because the senate could pass a “clean” extension; in that scenario, FISA probably gets extended as-is with no reforms.

But I like bringing attention to the FISA monstrosity which should be killed on off altogether because the 3-letters can’t find it within themselves to follow the rules (remember Carter Page?).

    120 @106

    >>Can someon explain to me why Congress has to pass a law removing authority from Biden that he never had and he can veto it?

Because the vast majority of the legislation that the nimrods in congress pass are simply enabling acts for the executive branch to conjure whatever interpretation they want.

Take the ObamaCare Abomination, pretty much every section of it had numerous lines saying, As directed by the HHS Secretary or as deemed necessary, or similar verbiage.

So congress established the EPA and funds them, and told them to regulate air quality, so that's what they are doing, there is nothing in the charter of the EPA that requires them to check-in with congress to see if they are copacetic with this action, that action or whatever rule they come up with.

Now congress can use the power of the purse to defund this or that, but as we've seen, there is no stomach in congress to defund anything.

So we get silly sh*t like we are seeing now.

Yes, I wouldn't mind having some more money but I don't find any of these tech giants having an attractive personality, except Elon Musk, who seems odd but endearing in his desire to protect free speech and isn't some sociopath who wants to control the world like Gates or alien looking Zuckerberg

161 >>A lot of stuff like that goes on at the State level. When PA legalized casinos, they came up with a lot of requirements (extortion to get the gaming license). The casino outside Erie has to maintain the highway in front of it for a given distance (about a mile each way). All casinos have to provide the State Police with a proper office in house.

On the federal level a lot of it is justified by what is known as the Chevron deference. It's based on a case back in the 80's where the SC said that any rule that is not explicitly defined by Congress in a law should be left up to the "experts" in the bureaucracy to interpret.

It was one of the worst decisions ever as far as enabling the bureaucracy to make up rules as they saw fit rather than forcing Congress to clearly define the law. A massive transfer of power to to unelected bureaucrats who rule like kings.

211 Can someone explain why a rapid fentanyl blood test is so critical and therefore practically superior to existing, slower methods? In the article they put it this way:
“Let’s say someone who has overdosed is in the emergency room, and doctors need to quickly determine what they’ve taken to treat them effectively. The speed of our method can be lifesaving.”

Will it? Do they do blood tests prior to performing emergency treatment for suspected or assumed fentanyl OD? One of the big discussion points in this country (so Canada might be different) is how much Narcan EMTs burn through in parts of the country, and how many 911 calls are effectively Narcan calls. EMTs aren't taking blood samples and testing them, are they? It seems like there is neither time nor equipment for such testing and that they use their judgement and administer Narcan if it seems appropriate.

A faster test with good parallelization (which this claims to offer) could be administratively helpful in some contexts (reduce backlog and wait times for formal testing, likely LE-related or as part of pre-op screenings), but how would it be "life-saving" in an emergency context?

This was one of the few areas where Bush 43 was sensible. He didn't go too far enough with it, but he was on the right track. His foreign policy dialed down the Eurocentrism dramatically because Europe no longer really mattered, and he focused his efforts in the Pacific - the 4x4 alliance, maneuvering to back India as a check on Red China, etc.

Obama undid most of it the moment he took office, and ran back to a Eurocentric foreign policy in a big way.

The left gets very very simplistic with this stuff.

We can solve homelessness by giving these people free housing! And, TBH, I can understand that the first time you try to address this issue it would be a reasonable way to start.

But...this has been tried endlessly and it never works. Most homeless people are homeless because they have mental issues or a drug addiction. So...you have to address those not just giving them free housing...

We're stuck with the notion that a homeless person is some poor soul who has had a series of bad breaks in life and just needs a hand getting back on his feet. And people like that can and should be helped.

But the reality is that almost all the homeless are mentally-ill (likely drug-addled) wrecks who have lost any notion - if they ever had one - of ordinary civilized behavior. Instead of being poor souls, they're a menace to the general populace. Doing anything for them should be to keep us safe from them.

    372 Stephen Miller @StephenM 10h
There are a little over 6 months until the first early voting begins in the presidential election. Six months! Any conversation about what bogus worthless, meaningless border EO Biden might issue before then is a giant distraction. An elaborate misdirection.

Biden orchestrated a criminal invasion of the United States. He added more illegals to the country than the population of almost every American state.

A mass resettlement of the global third world into our world: the monumental effects of which are only beginning to be felt. [...]

Under the rules of DEI, illegals will be at the front of every line. First in the hierarchy. First in all things.

    You and your family? Last.

So understand this. Your vote in November is a simple one.

    Become the third world.

Or seal the border and send the lawbreakers home.

That’s it. Those are your choices. Your only two choices. And know this too: if Biden completes his transformation, it is permanent. Irreversible. Unrecoverable.

    Make your choice, America.

They want to destroy everything good about our country. They want us to be pariahs on the world stage. They want to destroy our planet for profit.

Hate is a strong word. I disagree with Republicans on almost all policy issues. I don’t hate any of them (Trump may be an exception). Hate drove the genocide in Rwanda and Germany.

All public polling exists to move opinion or build a narrative and nothing to do with measuring opinion.

If public polling were valuable, there wouldn't be private polling. But there *is* private polling. The political parties spend breathtaking sums on internal, private polling and guard their results and methodologies more rigorously than most companies treat their trade secrets. They spend a fortune on proprietary polling and then usually don't advertise any of it. They look for - and spend loads on - marginal polling improvements.

None of that would happen if the public polling were useful. If there's no competitive advantage, it doesn't get done. That the parties see such tremendous potential for competitive advantage through proprietary polling while public polling exists means either than the parties are delusional or that the public polling is useless.

Was watching market analysis last evening and this AM. I understand little but, apparently, its just super though the middle class is paying a price and will be continuing to do so through high interest rates, depleting savings. (Another trillion dollars is added to be deficient every so many months; maybe every quarter?) The trick is owning stocks, they're saying, which brings them much optimist. I bet the very best tricks include owning stocks in certain tech and the war industries. (We can check that with the Cheneys and a bunch of other government war hawks.)

456 Back to the State Dinner, reported to be VERY symbolic.
To that end, Rahm Emanuel (and spouse) and also a few of his adult kids, at least one of which is in Intelligence, were also invited guests. I get that dad is Ambassador to Japan but there are always 'stories' behind the guest lists. Chicago? Obamacare?

Senator Hagerty, (R) Tennessee. Ashley Biden was reported to have 'drifted away' from reporters. (Related to a woman being jailed for selling her diary? Nah, im. Bill & Hillary Clinton - I thought she was wrapped in a flag of a nation. (I'm being a B., I doubt I would have presented better.) Bezos & fiancée. Tim Cook. 80 year old Robert DeNiro with mother to his 1-year old child. Ugh!

Cecile Richards, former president of Planned Parenthood, who talked with reporters about abortion. Gov. Evers of Wisconsin (D) who reminded reporters of his state's significance to the November election.

Richards, DeNiro & the Clintons were guests at the head table with the Bidens, along with Gov. Roy Cooper of North Carolina who joined a Biden campaign call last week to attack R-led abortion restrictions, per the NYT.

Now we can watch for Japan's support, too.
