I found out yesterday that my wealthy Portland suburb has had its first squatting case. Fortunately, since we still have a functional police force and court system, that was disposed of quickly.

I don't have much sympathy either, because what Biden has done to those black communities was spelled out clearly when he was running for president. He said he wanted to flood the country with as many illegals (excuse me, "migrants") as he possibly could. And that's what he did. Now they're feeling the consequences when they should've thought long and hard about it before voting for that retard.

Less than a week before the primary last night almost every poll had Moreno basically tied. He won by about 18 points.
It's become toxic for many people to admit they are voting for Trump or other America First types these days but look around, the country is imploding and everyone knows it. If anything I think polls are too conservative right now.

My theory is its about when the (D) is losing make sure the poll numbers stay tight so when the 3 am cheat occurs it's believable in such a 'close race'. I went to 539 yesterday and they say its Biden +1 or tied. Exactly what I would have expected in shit polls.

If it is a noun that starts with a front of the mouth vowel (A E I) it is El, no matter the gender, and if it is a Greek derived noun it is also El even if it ends in A like a feminine gendered noun.
Most foreign borrowings are masculine since no one like complicated things other than the French, Germans and the English.

I'm calling it, and I rarely do: op. At least of a sort. These guys were coached and carefully instructed about what to do. I don't know about NYC, but adverse possession law usually requires occupancy of and improvements to the property. They're occupying, and they're making improvements. It's rare to expend resources on improvements within the first month of occupancy (unless it's something you knew about going in - which they didn't, because they're squatters) or if you're a tenant, much less both.
If they're making improvements, they were coached to do so and given instructions. This is a setup, likely a test case to push the margins on "squatters rights" and adverse possession.

Yeah, the physics of the situation. You can only get so much efficiency out of a heat engine, so to get more MPG, you have to cut the weight. Of course, cutting the weight also makes the car less safe in a head-on collision with a heavier vehicle (also physics: conservation of energy, conservation of momentum), to anyone in a smaller car will feel a greater "acceleration" upon impact...

I try not to do the latter as long as it doesn't distort my sentence. But there's also the rule that a modifier should be placed as close as possible to its noun, or in this case, verb. "To boldly go . . ." just sounds better than "Boldly to go" (although that's not bad) or "to go boldly."

It's partly true. In California many non-citizens apprehended for looting up-scale houses are Chileans. A while back the State Department /spit/ added Chile to the No Visa Required to Enter US for Tourism list. So any wanna-be thief and some of his pals in Chile who want to rob up-scale homes can come to the US for 60 days, free as a bird, by claiming they are tourists.

I don't think it's any big plan. I think the squatters know they can live rent-free in a nice house for probably a year or more while the eviction proceeding drags through the courts. In fact, the squatters are probably making money by charging other "tenants" for rent during the time. Or for prostitution. You see the girl at the door in that pic? I was getting whore vibes. The "improvements" were probably to facilitate extra separate spaces.

adverse possession is a claim that the property was abandoned, and that the squatter was actually improving the property while living there. Happens from time to time around here.
It was a tradition from things my grandfather said, in Scotland, to "walk the boundaries" with your neighbors regularly to verify where the property lines were, grandpa used to say that his mom hated liquor in the house so his dad would "walk the boundaries" with male guests by going to the out-building for a drink

I called my best friend (known him since freshman year of college, so... 31 years?) a few weeks ago. Had not spoken to him in a few months.
So we talked politics and movies a bit, then I remembered:

Thing is, WWD is right, Cars are getting heavier, not lighter, for a given size. Most of the gains in fuel economy are the result of improved fuel management in the engine, allowing the heat engine to perform closer to its theoretical limit. Also we are seeing "cars" being largely replaced by various crossover SUV's, which are heavy. And electric cars can be up to double the weight of their gas-burning counterparts.
