Shock Study: "Woke" People Are More Neurotic, Depressed, Miserable, and Mentally Ill

Psychological researchers in Finland have created an assessment to help measure an individual's commitment to principles of social justice and made some surprising findings across the Finnish population -- including a negative correlation between progressive ideals and levels of happiness.
Their findings, published in the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology, suggest other Western nations may see similar patterns among their socially conscious citizens.
Study author Oskari Lahtinen, a senior researcher at the INVEST Research Flagship Centre at the University of Turku, remarked that the "woke" discourse has since worked its way into Finnish discourse.

In the end, their final Critical Social Justice Attitude Scale identified seven truisms of woke people:
"If white people have on average a higher level of income than black people, it is because of racism."
"University reading lists should include fewer white or European authors."
"Microaggressions should be challenged often and actively."
"Trans* women who compete with women in sports are not helping women's rights." (reverse scored)
"We don't need to talk more about the color of people's skin."
"A white person cannot understand how a black person feels equally well as another black person."
"A member of a privileged group can adopt features or cultural elements of a less privileged group." (reverse scored)

"The gender divide was probably most surprising to me," Lahtinen told PsyPost of Finnish attitudes. "Three out of five women view 'woke' ideas positively, but only one out of seven men."
This was especially true of women in fields such as social sciences, education, and humanities. By contrast, participants who worked in STEM were more likely to critique social justice efforts associated with being woke.
However, the most concerning finding was the relationship between mental health and agreement with the scale. Specifically, researchers found a high prevalence of anxiety and depression in people who believe the statement "If white people have on average a higher income than black people, it is because of racism." More broadly, they found that those who identified as left-wing were most likely to report lower mental well-being.

Why on earth does this surprise you? There are two huge, obvious things factoring into this.

First, woke shit is stupid and makes no sense. Men like it when things make sense. Things that don't make sense are more likely to be rejected.

But much bigger than that is incentives. Woke ideology is designed to elevate everyone who *isn't* a man. From a pure self-interest standpoint, why would men subscribe to such an ideology? The best you're likely to get in most cases is transactional subscription in the effort to gain women. But few people are stupid enough to genuinely support an ideology that has "I want you, specifically, to die" as a central article of faith.

The second is the drop in testosterone in men. I was listening to a guy who took it upon himself to see why his T was low in high school, and what he needed to do naturally to increase it. (Lift, workout, sleep, etc).

He said there were times he didn't feel like a man, like literally did not feel he had a gender. I think chemically speaking there are a lot like him, and they are lured by the "It's okay, your just trans or gay" crowd. He also said he was depressed... to me it all fits. Trans people are depressed... there are underlying problems that has more to do with not working out, exercising, eating right that is leading them down this path.

Not a problem. As I said, I didn't know the details and appreciate the info.

There is a real problem with nutjobs (er, people with mental illness), and there doesn't seem to be a way to really help them effectively. Really tough when they don't take their drugs, or can't be confined when they need to be.

Cats don't get pack rules, by dog rules the older dog might have been right. Cats make their own decisions instead. Cesar Milan used to say the best way was to train the dogs that the cat was a pack leader.

They do have a more informal group assignment of rules and tasks. In my many years, the cats that sit close to me have been the females. One of the males is the one that watches from the outside for trouble, assignments change when the old one dies. There is a respect for elder cats instilled in kittenhood that never goes away, even when the kitten becomes the protector can physically dominate.

You need time with a cat. J swore he hated them and cited all your reasons. He would NEVER sleep with a cat, etc. Now he makes comfy spots for them on the bed. They bring their toys to him to play fetch. Not always at the best time, sometimes they try to wake him up , but they can’t really tell time, not their fault.

Cats do love you. My cats’ breed is notably doglike, but all cats like their people. Mine are down right clingy and wait for me by the back door when I leave.

Cats certainly love their people and better yet are amused by us. But since they are prey animals, there are genetic triggers to be cautious around large clumsy things that can kill you like people, and the thermostat for caution versus boldness is set different on every cat.

My cat only cared about one person, me. She did a lot of things to show she liked me. Her morning routine is one example.

She would wait for me to come out of my bedroom. She would talk to me while walking ahead, pick a spot in the middle of the floor, and flop down. In the 80s I trained my first kitten not to wake me in the mornings, but she could sit on my shoulder I did wake up. There was dry food if she got hungry. For her 20 years she trained somehow all kittens the house rule and I don't get pushed out of bed. The cats left have continued to train the successors without me doing anything.
