Hope it works out just as well for them. Who will be next? Kotaku? Unrelated: There's a conspiracy theory going 'round about Kate Middleton. Apparently she has not been seen in public for two months, after being hospitalized for ten days. Media and royal obsessives keep asking where she is. Kate Middleton release a picture to appease them. The picture supposedly shows her posing with her children. People began questioning whether the picture was real, claiming there were telltale signs of bad editing in Photoshop. Three media companies pulled the picture, stating that they could not verify that the picture was real. Later, Kate Middleton took the rap herself, saying she'd merely edited it a little. But this guy is claiming that the picture of Kate was lifted entirely from a Vogue cover and then inserted in the picture:

If William and his entire family were to die in some kind of horrible accident, the succession traverses back up to Charles and then back down by age, which would be Harry. But if William alone were to die before ascending to the throne, it goes to his oldest child. If the oldest child is dead, it goes to the oldest child's oldest child (if that person exists), otherwise to the second-oldest child IIRC. Dead people in the line are still there for lineage and succession purposes. If Charles had died before taking the throne, it still would have been William, not one of Charles' siblings. There are two separate issues going on with the British media and William and Catherine. The press is furious they have been denied access to Catherine completely during this and that there have been no leaks from Williams office. That pisses them off to no end.
William also took the picture of Catherine and the family, once again denying them access to Catherine or rights to the picture. They are furious at that. >>> How would Kate be the Royal Scapegoat? Is there something that needs to be covered up?
Two options I've seen. One, Blood is thicker than water for royals. So even if she's behaved perfect her whole life, done all the charity gigs without complaint, and produced three adorable heirs, she's still a mud blood commoner. The Firm can throw her under the bus if push comes to shove. Two, if there's a scandal or a need to make Charles and Camilla look better, they will have the press run a story about William and Kate doing something not kosher. It's been happening for a while. Especially when they were trying to buff up Camilla's image so there wouldn't be uproar over making her Queen, not just Queen consort. Charles is so egotistical that he doesn't realize scapegoating his own son, heir to his throne, makes them all look stupid. Posted by: LizLem at March 11, 2024 05:06 PM (QAK8m) 308

To be fair, the oldest known law code says that you are allowed to throw the (specified female) tavern owner in the river if she won't take certain payment from you for the beer she serves. The implication is that only women were ever tavern keepers and, by extension, beer brewers in that part of ancient Mesopotamia, because otherwise they would have used the masculine. Best version was Fonzie as Scrooge. Posted by: Soothsayer at March 11, 2024 05:29 PM (DbiLk) That was pretty bad, But I like Scrooge with Albert Finney.. It's a musical so my taste could be questionable Posted by: It's me donna at March 11, 2024 05:30 PM (Akjoo) 427
omeone just told me that there is a musical version of "A Christmas Carol" with Albert Finney but I have never seen that.
Posted by: FenelonSpoke The Finney version has some decent songs (including "Thank You Very Much"), but the later parts of it are a bit over the top (e.g., Marley taking Scrooge to visit Hell, Scrooge dressing up as Father Christmas after his reformation, etc). 414 Alistair Sim version my mom's favorite. I still have her DVD copy.
Posted by: steevy at March 11, 2024 05:28 PM (FQmDC) Alastair Sim is the undisputed GOAT. That's a fact. He seems to take genuine delight in his meanness. And post-visitation, he just exudes whimsical joy. I just can't say enough about how thoroughly he owned that role. He makes the transformation so real. A local oldies TV station here had an apology for Hawaii Five-0 about "Oriental/s" being used instead of "Asian/s" when referring to the episode's Red Chinese spies.

My favorite warning is 'Outdated cultural depictions"
Posted by: steevy at March 11, 2024 05:30 PM (FQmDC) Disney posts warnings on its old movies like Peter Pan. It's pure hypocrisy. We're going to Karen you about how awful our depictions of Native Americans are but we're not going to miss out of the cash grab when you buy them from us! Such integrity! It's why they changed the best pic, when Nolan's Batman was snubbed. Supposedly more pop films can get noms, but still doesn't mean they'll win. Glad he got a redemption arc by winning for Oppenheimer, I really liked it.
Posted by: LizLem at March 11, 2024 05:22 PM (QAK8m) Yeah doing the "serious" movie for Oscar bait is an old story. It just isn't a story I like very much. Posted by: Oldcat at March 11, 2024 05:33 PM (eoQWY) 440

Media is now trying to put this genie back in the bottle...they've "un-killed" the photo.... because they realized the mess they just created for themselves as an industry if they will no longer publish "edited" photos..... What about Sussex photos? or Kardashian photos? or Bezos/Sanchez photos? or White House photos? They foolishly made themselves into the "edited photo auditors/police"....... over attacking the Princess of Wales over minor editing of a family photo on their mother's day holiday weekend in the UK.....and yes, I believe this whole kerfuffle was instigated and initially propelled by the Sussexes and their crew of nags/hags/harpies in and out of the media.

Better dust off the burning skull. Rep. Barry Loudermilk has been leading an investigation into the J6 Select Committee investigation of what happened on January 6th and you will be shocked to learn that what Pelosi's team of stooges reported is bullshit and one of the worst offenders was Liz Cheney.
The entire J6 narrative they built is 100% bullshit. https://tinyurl.com/bdhhmcsn Posted by: JackStraw Just one example is the smothering of evidence that PDT did indeed ask Muriel Bowser if she wanted 10K NG troops which was declined. Same answer from Pelosi to Trump. Whoops! Whoopsie! Posted by: Cheri at March 11, 2024 06:01 PM (oiNtH) 451
