Edmond Public Schools issued an unapologetic statement to Fox25:

We are proud of our students for the tireless work and immense effort they put into each of our philanthropy weeks. Already this school year, our North and Santa Fe students have raised more than $416,000 for local non-profits with Swine Week at Memorial still to come. EPS school administrators, just like our surrounding districts, work with student council sponsors to make these weeks as impactful as possible. Through their efforts over many months, metro area high school students learn countless life lessons on how to make a positive difference in their community.

You all need to be fired. Fired, and your teaching credentials cancelled.

By the way, the schools have taken down all the pictures of their staff.

Both schools involved in this literally gag-inducing degeneracy are of course fighting the Superintendent's power to demand that inappropriate books be removed from schools:

Both schools have recently butt heads with Oklahoma's conservative state superintendent over school library books.
On February 20, the Edmonds School District petitioned the Oklahoma Supreme Court to determine if Walters' office has the authority to lower a school district's accreditation if the school refuses to pull certain library books based on "subjective opinions of high school library books."
The petition came after the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) ordered Edmond Public Schools to remove what it deemed age-inappropriate books from its elementary school libraries. OSDE threatened to downgrade the district's accreditation if it did not remove the two books in question--"The Kite Runner" and "The Glass Castle" -- from elementary school shelves.
The district stated that the State Board of Education 'does not have the power to enact the rule it is attempting to enforce,' and that the Oklahoma Attorney General advised the State Board of Education that said rules would be 'unenforceable' before they were enacted.
The neighboring Deer Creek School District issued a statement on February 21 in support of Edmond Public School's decision to petition the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

When I was in sixth grade, a fad went around among my classmates called "fainting." You were supposed to take a series of very deep breaths, and then your buddy would bear hug you very suddenly and tightly from behind. Done right, it resulted in the deep breather actually losing consciousness for a minute or so. As far as I know, nobody was ever harmed in any way, at least not right then.

Even at age eleven, I didn't think that sounded safe (stroke, anyone?), and I refused to have anything to do with it. I told my mother about it, and she nodded. "You did the right thing." Years later, she told me that when I described my refusal to go along with the crowd, she knew she'd be able to trust me on my own in junior high and high school.

I like to think I'd have refused this looniness too.

Having done a lot of reading criminal sentencing reports, I can assure you that some people just grow up to be evil despite every advantage in the world given to them. Some people grow up good despite the world treating them as garbage.

Freedom of will is a thing and generally outside forces can never 'fix' an evil person. Only the 'evil' person can do so which is why it is so rare.

Socialized evil is a bit different--for example soldiers often have to do evil things--examples abound in WWI and WWII among other places. You can't overestimate the value of having the older kids mentor the younger kids in a large family. It helps the older kids and the younger kids.

They could all turn out good with a bad seed or they could all turn out bad with a couple of good seeds. Then you will know the parents influence.

I think if the book can’t be read out loud in a meeting or on TV, it might not belong in a school library. Where our messaging could use a little finessing, however, is noting we are completely okay if you, as a parent, want your child reading this crap. Please. Buy it. Read it for a bedtime story. Give it to them as a birthday present. I think a small percentage would actually do this. I think others would start to read the stuff and have a quick mind shift. It is their right as a parent to have their children read whatever. It’s my right as a parent to monitor what my child sees and reads.

Certain standards of accreditation would have to be required. Allah Snackbars school is not going to pass any sort of test like that.

It just makes me sick to send ten thousand dollars a year off to my local public school and see the results fall, year after year. If I could allocate 50% private, 50% Catholic that would be my choice.

339 Damn, I'm glad I grew up in the 50's and graduated HS in 1966. None of this, and I means NONE of this would have even entered our minds. Social media has been a huge contributor to much of this. Our "social' media was HS dances and the local soda fountains around town.

When I send this stuff to some of my lifelong friends and old classmates. they're astonished. It's like The Twilight Zone to them. I really can't believe how innocent we were back then.
