Google's Stock Drops After Humiliation of Woke Terminator AI;
Evil Corporation Loses $70 Billion in Market Value

Quick, SEC, launch another investigation into Elon Musk!

Google loses $70 billion in market value after failure of racist Gemini

MXM Exclusive

Quick Hit

Alphabet, Google's parent company, experienced a significant drop in market value, losing over $70 billion as stock prices fell by up to 4.4% on Monday. This followed the temporary suspension of Google Gemini's AI image creator and the surfacing of controversial responses from Gemini's chat feature.

Key Details

Google's AI platform, Gemini, has been criticized for generating controversial images and responses, leading to a pause in its image creator feature.

Alphabet's market value dropped by over $70 billion, with stock prices falling by up to 4.4%.
Google DeepMind CEO, Demis Hassabis, announced that the image generating feature would be offline for a few weeks to address the issues raised.

Below, Google's AI wrestles with the age-old moral dilemma: Which is worse, Hitler's genocide, or Elon Musk's tweets?

63 Scott Adams (Dilbert) is thinking of suing.

Google AI:

Is Scott Adams a racist?

The determination of whether or not Scott Adams is racist is a complex one, but his recent comments provide a strong indication of racist beliefs. Here's why:

His Own Words: Adams explicitly labeled Black Americans as a "hate group" and advocated for white people to completely segregate themselves. This type of generalization and dehumanization of an entire race is a hallmark of racist ideology.

Harmful Stereotypes: His statements perpetuate harmful stereotypes about Black people as inherently dangerous and hateful. This ignores the reality of individual diversity and fuels prejudice.

Consequences of His Words: While Adams may claim his words were hyperbolic, they contribute to a climate of fear and division. Hate speech fuels discrimination, incites violence, and undermines efforts for true racial equality.

It goes on from there.

While Justice Minister Arif Virani and other Liberal officials have emphasized these elements when promoting the bill, the child protections appear only to be the vehicle for the transformative substance of C-63.

C-63 would enable Trudeau's leftist government to define "hate speech" online; create a stand-alone "hate crime"; set "strict penalties" for perceived offenses; and allow concern-mongers to file complaints without facing the accused.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre stressed the bill is an "attack on freedom of expression."

Same as the J6 jailers, it's probably a lot easier to get non-Americans to agree to do anti-American stuff than it is find home-grown people with the skills needed at that level to also do anti-American stuff.

The only way their stock will truly sink, and sink permanently, is if I buy a bunch of it.

He actually might. Google will try to avoid it, but they may demand his head for damage control.

But this goes way beyond Gemini, and now Google can't hide it. Gemini was not made what it is by one man. It took the entire corporate culture to make Gemini.

One"misguided" team couldn't get this from inception to release. There was internal testing. There demos to executives. There were internal-only releases. There always are. Something this big and this important doesn't hit the market under the corporate banner without approval and sign-off by a *lot* of people.

All of those people at all levels signed off on this. They all built it, used it, and approved it. That approval means they didn't find something wrong with it. It passed muster with those people, who agreed that it was fit for purpose.

Failures this spectacular do not happen by accident or in a vacuum. For this to happen, the *company* is broken, not the team.

Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at February 28, 2024 12:23 PM (HnUIn)

107 Marc Andreessen's perspective is there is no way for Google to truly fix Gemini. The thinking that went into creation of the widely mocked release is pervasive at that organization. So a competitor now has an opportunity to take over the market with an unbiased model, right? Nope - all companies "share the same ideology, agenda, staffing and plan."

133 Zeus; king of the gods, had his eye on Leda, the queen of Sparta. In order to have his way with her he disguised himself as a swan. On that same night, Leda’s husband; king Tyndareus also had his way with her. This resulted in Leda bearing two eggs from which hatched Helen; later to become the cause of the Trojan Wars and a boy; Pollux, who were the immortal offspring of Zeus. The second egg revealed another girl and boy; Clytemnestra (who later became the wife of Agamemnon, the leader of the Greeks in the Trojan Wars) and Castor; who were the mortal children of king Tyndareus; the husband of Leda.

When Jason invited them to join the Argonauts aboard his ship, the Argo, in his quest for the Golden Fleece, the twins accepted without hesitation and they quickly became known for their ability to calm stormy seas which more than once jeopardized the ship.

The problem isn't that McConnell is hated by the base, it's that he's lost control of the Senate GOP caucus. Thune, backed by donor money, will make the appeal that he can bring in the money while managing the caucus well, a promise that he'll be able to extend to 25 GOP senators (through direct promises of election funding) to secure his ascension to the leadership spot.

That was the instant drop---when a company fails to make a key product switch and Google literally can't fix their AI model, then it will have subsequent effects on the whole company.

Google and Meta have now both stumbled on Act II to keep the money going. Apple is still going strong right now based on a walled garden which IBM used to do for decades. Amazon's best days as a retailer are behind it but its cloud computing biz is carrying it for the moment. The only problem with that is continuing security breaches in cloud computing land and high costs are beginning to lead industry to insource those computing projects and it is possible that AI will continue that insourcing. Companies that develop their own AI special sauce are not going to want it out there as general property up for grabs on poorly secured cloud computing providers. Hence, back to running their own servers and IT infrastructure.

And McCarthy is gone because he tried to run the House like McConnell ran the senate. McConnell just needed a majority of Republicans to back him. McCarthy needed a majority of the entire House. It's a completely different dynamic, and the fact that McCarthy tried it at all informs me that his IQ is probably about 73.

GOPe donor man just needs to promise safe re-election paths through election money to a bare majority of GOP senators. Then, the GOPe keeps their hold on leadership, the base loses a punching bag, and the GOPe (which has never proven to be terribly intelligent, just ruthlessly cunning up against the base) gets to reset expectations. Thune (or Cornyn) will be more like McCarthy after Ryan, if you want to draw comparisons with House leadership.

It's also because dot-Indians hire, cultivate, and promote only other dot-Indians. Once a company has a core group of Indians, that group brings in many more and exercises outside influence on the company. This is especially true in tech because so many tech guys are Indian to begin with.

Makes Leda sound like a cat, whose kittens can each have a different father. I guess the answer is that Zeus's seed was divine, so anything went.

You have to wonder if young Helen and Pollux knew they were immortal and that Clytemnestra and Castor were not . . . and if the latter two also knew of the difference growing up. By adulthood they must have known. Yet Castor and Pollux were supposedly inseparable.

And did Tyndareus know the immortal two were not his kids?

Then, the GOPe keeps their hold on leadership, the base loses a punching bag, and the GOPe (which has never proven to be terribly intelligent, just ruthlessly cunning up against the base) gets to reset expectations. Thune (or Cornyn) will be more like McCarthy after Ryan, if you want to draw comparisons with House leadership.

_______

I always thought the answer to this was obvious: the egg. Given that evolution occurs between generations -- at the biological, genetic level -- at some point there was a bird who was not quite a chicken who laid an egg that contained an embryo with enough genetic variation (evolution) to be classified as the first chicken.

Put another way, an animal can't spontaneously evolve itself. So any pre-chicken was was already born -- ie, before it was able to lay an egg -- was always gonna be a pre-chicken and not a chicken. It was the egg that contained the first chicken. So there you have it: the egg came first.

'AI' is a pretty non-specific term, there being all sorts of models, and all sorts of implementations.

As a general rule, the algorithm(s) will have the capacity to 'learn' by exposure to data. The more exposure, the 'smarter' the model will be.

There are multiple problems, of course. The appropriateness of the model, the validity of the algorithm, and most importantly, the data to which it is exposed for 'learning'. An image recognition AI model repeatedly exposed to a chair, which is identified as a table, will simply call a chair a table. There is no reasoning in AI beyond what it has been exposed to.
