The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

One of the Biden/Obama Junta's greatest errors has been the destruction of American petroleum production, and the concurrent significant increase in the price of petroleum on the world markets. Of course that is their plan...to drive up the price of oil and drive us into EVs and eating bugs and living in the 18th century.

But they have also handed Russia and Iran an incredible windfall. Those two countries rely on oil revenue, and they were in financial trouble when the Trump economy took the shackles off of American production. Russia's government budget...the one they use to pay for weapons...sh*ts the bed at $40 oil, and Iran's is no better.

But oil has doubled in price since the stolen election of 2020, and Russia and Iran are swimming in a sea of cash. How else would they pay for their fancy new toys? Well, I guess Iran just writes checks on accounts we have helpfully unfrozen! But I digress...

North Korean Missile Used In Ukraine Was Packed Full Of U.S. Parts

short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) produced by North Korea and recently used against Ukraine by Russia relied on more than 290 foreign-sourced components, many of them originating from U.S. manufacturers. This is the alarming result of a study by Conflict Armament Research (CAR), a U.K.-based investigative organization.

More concerning, perhaps, is the fact that according to CAR's study -- which you can read in full here -- those U.S. components were manufactured within the last three years. This raises clear questions about the efficiency of United Nations sanctions placed on North Korea which are intended, above all, to disrupt its wide-ranging ballistic missile development program.

Yeah...there's another really big problem there, but the first is bad enough. Russia has the cash to buy lots of missiles from North Korea, courtesy of the drooling, senile idiot who is the mouthpiece for the worst foreign-policy administration in America's history.

That other problem is systemic...sanctions administered by the United Nations to stop or slow North Korea's ballistic missile industry are laughably ineffective. But everything the UN does is pathetic, so that shouldn't surprise anyone. Sadly, the question of whether the American corporations manufacturing some of the parts used in those missiles knew where their products were going is a question that will never be answered under a Democrat kleptocracy in D.C.

But the hits keep coming!

Russia Receives Around 400 Ballistic Missiles From Iran

Iran's provision of around 400 missiles includes many from the Fateh-110 family of short-range ballistic weapons, such as the Zolfaghar, three Iranian sources said. This road-mobile missile is capable of striking targets at a distance of between 300 and 700 km (186 and 435 miles), experts say.

So Iran's oceans of cash pays for Hamas and Hezbollah to attack our staunch ally in the Middle East, pays to build missiles that it sells to Russia, who uses their oil revenue to pay for them. And where's our cut in this lovely little circle of death? Well, we borrow money to pay for arms and cash that we send to Ukraine to fight the Russians and to Israel to fight the Islamists. And we also borrow money to buy the expensive oil that we need to run our economy.

Luckily the graft flowing from Ukraine will ensure that those elites responsible for this foreign-policy clusterf*ck will have wonderful retirements!

But Trump said "pussy!"

Doesn't that make perfect sense?

I'm not interested in rehashing Ukraine right now, but it's very interesting that the Russians have to buy missiles from the Norks. Especially since it was recently revealed that the quality of the propellant in the 155 mm shells (or whatever is close) they got from Kim was...shall we say...non-optimal. It was so bad that they couldn't be sure where the shell would land, whether on target or their own troops.

I almost think Republicans should strike some deal where they open up federal lands for drilling and all the royalties go to something like Social Security and Medicare. Probably 80% of America would support something like that.

I'm a fan of the first two Borderlands games (and that's all) and this movie is so hilariously mis-cast...it's like the Wish.com version of the Borderlands characters. It's like the stunt double capture scene from Spaceballs. All the characters are SORTA dressed like the characters from the video game, but they're off. Really off sometimes. Also, lots of old women cast in a shooting/action movie.

Also, also James Gunn is owed some royalties, it looks like.

Reminds me of the story told years ago, about a village in Eastern Europe, where all the women were trained from a young age, because they had no teeth, to give beejers, and apparently they were renowned the world over for their skills.

From grammies to teens, they were all in the game, and men came from across the world to partake.

238 Decades ago at a university history course we learned about a world war II proposed policy in the FDR administration called the “Morgenthau Plan”. The idea was, and at first glance perhaps understandable, that Germany had twice (in their view) started huge world wars and their industrial output was a big part of that.

So, the thinking went, they should be completely de-industrialized, and simply become a pastoral landscape, unable to wage war.

I remember thinking at the time “that’s what they are doing, or want to do, here”. Have to say I haven’t seen anything whatsoever to disabuse me of this working theory. Everything leftists do, or don’t do, is designed to fuck shit up. Republicans generally work to ensure nothing can be done about it, near as I can tell, or offer token limited hangout defense. “Sorry. We tried. We shall never speak of this again.”

390 I doubt many of the U.S.-made parts in those missiles could be categorized specifically as "ballistic missile parts". Missiles need nuts and bolts, too. There's a difference between having a shipment of 100,000 aircraft-grade bolts to Malaysia being skimmed and resold to the Norks by parties overseas, and complete missile-specific subassemblies being built in the USA and smuggled past the "blockade". It would be interesting to know where on that continuum the bulk of the instances fall.

Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at February 22, 2024 11:21 AM (ynpvh)

I expect that Russia is saving their good and current-model weapons for reserve if they get into a war with a peer-level adversary. Ukraine is a bit of a sideshow, so they can use their obsolete stockpile and imported junk for that.

Rolls-Royce and Boeing are working on the effort to replace the B-52H’s current Pratt & Whitney-made, decades-old TF33 engines with new F130 engines. This is meant to keep the Cold War-era bomber — the newest of which entered service in 1962 — flying into the 2050s as the B-52J.

455 Every single time I had to explain you have to swipe the card. I guess we were just slow adopters on that tech.

The US was like 10 years behind on that. Tap-to-pay defeats the common card skimmers that swipe cards are susceptible to but it's also much more expensive to manufacture the cards so banks were willing to accept the fraud until they were forced not to.

456 Israel is a client, not an ally. Israel has no mutual defense treaty with the United States, would not and has not assisted us overseas, and despite billions of dollars in aid, has not heeded our requests for restraint in Gaza. (Even if Biden is wrong, the fact that they feel they can ignore the president of the United States with impunity tells us that they take their relationship with the US for granted).

458 They've had tap to pay in Australia for years. I was down there a few years back and every single time I used my card the cashier looked lost when they tapped it and it didn't do anything. They would just look down and sadly tap it again and again. Every single time I had to explain you have to swipe the card. I guess we were just slow adopters on that tech.
Posted by: brak at February 22, 2024 12:07 PM (AR07F)

I disable tap to pay on all my cards. I want there to be some deliberate physical action on my part to either swipe the card or insert it in the chip reader.

460 We produce more oil today than at any point in history. How does that argue that he destroyed our petroleum production?

From your own link, we were producing 12.98M bb/day the month before Biden took office. By May it was down to 9.714M and never passed 12.9M until this last August. Three and a half years of diminished supply and a drained SPR, in a country with 20+ million more people than in 2019. Joe Biden is a senile fucknut.

Posted by: G'rump928(c) at February 22, 2024 08:22 PM (aD39U)

461 and that doesn't even address the fact that we have had to supply Europe AND China additional oil during this period because of the Ukraine war, further reducing the oil available to Americans.
