Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Film Threat: To Achieve 50/50 "Equity," DEIsney Knew They Had to "Drive Out the Old White Guys." So They Embarked on a Strategy of "First, Exasperate, and Then Attack" the Old White Guys Until They QuitThis is how the DEI sausage gets made. Because there simply were not many women, minorities, or Women of Color in animation, or even in animation school, DEIsney just started sliding into WOC's DMs on social media and hiring them. (This is now common, by the way.) Actually, Tumblr is very problematic. Tumblr was the Petri dish for growing this repulsive leftwing SJW toxic mold. Tumblr is/was the Ground Zero for everything bizarre, weird, and toxic going on in social media and the media generally today. It was a training filed for zealous, mentally-ill Marxist revolutionaries. So don't be a cuck, Film Threat. Hey, he said Tumblr was Ground Zero! Indeed! My words exactly. Tumblr "artists" got scooped up by Marvel and DC. These two woke basketcases hired anti-talent after anti-talent off Tumblr, based on nothing but race, sex, and status as a trans person. And you can see what happened to Marvel and DC. Both are on the glidepath to bankruptcy. But of course, you can't hire an army of anti-talented, zero training, zero experience WOCs and trannies off Tumbler without clearing out the... Old Deplorables. "The goal was to clear out as many 'Old White Guys' as possible at Disney Animation..." ... When these recruits started doing their highly coveted jobs, they struggled to succeed at a job they weren't qualified to have in the first place. Attempts to offer help or mentoring from the "Old White Guys" were met with an undeniable cold shoulder. One veteran animator described the new hires as having "open disdain for the 'Old White Guys.'" Comments veterans made during creative meetings were met with snarky replies by the youngsters. In a moment of entitlement, one young female POC said after a notes session, "They won't listen to MY ideas."Many of these anti-talents began leaving DEIsney when they became frustrated at having to, you know, actually learn how to draw. (Some were moved from "art" to the "story" division -- which may explain why DEIsney's writing is so terrible.) ... Disney could not reach 50/50 male/female equity without clearing out the "Old White Guys." They needed to go, and outright firing them was not an option. The tactic was simple: first, exasperate, and then attack. It started with "demotions" for the "Old White Guys" in an attempt to demoralize them. The targets were given mundane and inconsequential scenes to work on, regardless of their vast experience...scraps for the dogs. Second, if they questioned or complained about their assignment, they were given impossible scenes to work on in an impossible amount of time. When the work was turned in, the new emboldened recruits harshly criticized their work to the point of humiliation. The goal was to make life so miserable that they'd quit or be forced to fall in line with the new normal. If that didn't work, something worse was waiting in the wings.Much more at the link. Hey Film Threat, I know you already know this, but you really should call for emails from insiders in the nearly-dead comic book industry for your next exposee. The comic book industry is simply further down the track to bankruptcy. Where the comic book industry is now, is where all media companies are following. Once again, for those of you who are Auditory Learners, here's their podcast discussing the article. They discuss the fact that Tumblrinas are incredibly dogmatic woke feminist authoritarians, and as soon as they achieved a critical threshold of "representation" at DEIsney, they imposed their bizarre cult on the organization. The Walt Disney Company has been hit with a federal civil rights complaint alleging the company's DEI policies are unlawful and discriminate against white American men, Christians, and Jews. America First Legal filed the complaint against Disney on Wednesday. The group cited publicly available documents published on Disney's official sites as well as leaked internal documents showing how executives have made diversity, equity, and inclusion a central part of Disney's hiring practices. .. At the heart of America First Legal's argument is that Disney has implemented de-facto quotas in its hiring, which violates employment law. These quotas are often disguised as "diversity and inclusion policies" but in some cases, Disney has publicly listed actual percentages when it comes to hiring for its productions. ... "It is patently unlawful to consider racial, ethnic, and sex-based characteristics in hiring, training, compensation, and promotion," America First Legal said in its complaint. "Decades of case law have held that policies that impose racial balancing or quotas in employment, training, or recruitment, such as those presented on Disney's websites, are prohibited."Oh: And America First Legal is soliciting additional cases from white heterosexual men denied employment and forced out of jobs by DEIsney:

They want to take from those who have (but no the activists) and give to those who don't have (including the activists, whether they were rich to start with or not.) Basically, you make life in the shop so fucking miserable that a person feels they have no option but to quit. The result of Lee's "wish" may have destroyed the animation industry in America in one fell swoop. The unintended (or some would say intended) consequences of her actions were the creation of a toxic work environment where everyone is walking on eggshells and intent on shoving out veteran talent and ushering in an army of activists dead set on transforming the company in a way that Walt Disney himself would not recognize.

"The $66.3 billion bipartisan package, titled the "Defending Borders, Defending Democracies Act," has six initial co-sponsors, equally split between Democrats and Republicans. In addition to Fitzpatrick, the Republican backers are Reps. Don Bacon of Nebraska and Mike Lawler of New York. The Democrats are Reps. Jared Golden of Maine, Ed Case of Hawaii and Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez of Washington." "Out of the $66 billion, $47.7 would go to Ukraine, $10.4 would go to Israel, $4.9 billion would go to 'shore of the defense of allies in the Indo-Pacific," and $2.4 billion would go back to US Central Command operations, including the conflict in the Red Sea." A Scottish YouTuber, convicted of a hate crime after uploading a video of him teaching his girlfriend's dog to give a Nazi salute, has avoided a prison sentence. Mark Meechan, 30, from North Lanarkshire, Scotland, was fined £800 ($1117) after he was found guilty following a trial in March in connection to the video, which he uploaded in 2016. In the clip, Meechan, better known as Count Dankula, told viewers how he wanted to annoy his girlfriend as a joke so decided to turn her pet pug, Buddha, into the "least cute thing I could think of." Remember when Yahoo! bought Tumblr and only after the fact realized that they paid a premium price for a platform that ran entirely on pornography and radical political deviance, and had to continuously write down the value until Verizon ultimately sold it off for a staggering final loss after it picked up the reeking turd when it bought Yahoo!? Talent was always an afterthought. It was more important that these women could pad the quotas and become useful foot soldiers for the cause of DEI. Once in, the activists were asked for referrals, and now they were in a position to hire other artists from their "friend squads." They were now hiring based seemingly on their politics; these "friend squads" quickly created a powerful contingent not just at Disney.

++++ True. But Disney will not be permitted to lose this case and for once, it has nothing to do with Disney itself but will happen because Disney is the norm. They are not special in this regard. They perhaps went harder than most companies, but they're not uniquely bad. This is all over Corporate America. As the former GM of my division put it a couple of years ago: "It is no longer just about finding the best person for the job, it's about finding the best person for the job who also contributes to our diversity." This shit is standard practice throughout the corporate world. Bonuses are tied to it, there quotas (public or secret) and there is constant pressure on hiring managers to comply.
This is really disgusting. These people probably have been drawing/painting their whole lives. They were that kid in school who was known for being the artist. They worked very hard, practiced all the time, went to school, worked their way into the industry, got the Disney job, worked their way up the ladder, etc. And some Commissar comes along and decides that because you're the wrong sex or color or sexual orientation you don't belong. I think a lot of marketing departments applied the old rule of thumb, "one happy customer will tell 12 others about the product" to the audience of an influencer, wrongly assuming their followers were/would be customers. If they accept his higher property values, that leads to larger property tax payments. If he has a better interest rate, that increases net income and therefore his tax payments owed. Legally, corporations putting quota numbers out on employment there are legally fucked as the explicit language of the CRA forbids quotas in employment law and there is no such educational loophole for corporations as there was for educational institutions after Bakke but ended just recently. I'd mentioned the other day that I am thinking about picking up the X-Wing wargame. There's really just two things holding me back. One is that it's a licensed product so presumably some small fraction of the money is gonna go to Woke Disney. They're not actually under formal embargo like, say, Ebay is, but we don't do business with them as a matter of not caring about Disney or its bullshit and with the current state of things it feels rather dirty to give them money even if it's only like ten cents of royalties.
The other reason is that virtually nobody plays X-Wing anymore, despite it being so huge that in 2016 it dethroned the mighty Warhammer 40K as the top selling tabletop game. There are a few reasons for this, but one of the big ones that even relatively apolitical wargame buffs are quite aware of is that Disney managed to utterly destroy public interest in Star Wars in a few short years. It's at a multi-generational low at this point and everyone knows it. Posted by: CppThis at February 16, 2024 05:04 PM (PZvjL) 149

The correct response to being a victim of this, is to swear to only ever hire WMs from now until the end of time.
Posted by: BourbonChicken You do know that's what's going to happen when it all collapses and rebuilding starts, right? Folks will remember what happened when it was otherwise, swear "never again", and...well, it's going to suck, and it won't necessarily work out any better, but it's about as predictable as the sun rising in the east. After all, folks can always be guaranteed to learn the lesson that's simple, obvious, and way off the mark. I really don't understand why the wokistas have to remake old movies
I often thought "why not make new characters and stories?" At first I thought it was just because they had no talent. Which IS true... but I now think the motive is darker. Not just erase the past, but redefine it. And then one day, while strapped to a chair in Room 101 with rat cages strapped to our faces, we will declare that The Little Mermaid was always black. What's inside Senate's $95 billion bill to aid Ukraine and Israel.... SPENDING RELATED TO UKRAINE About $60 billion in the bill would go to supporting Ukraine as it defends itself from the Russian invasion that began nearly two years ago. There’s nearly $14 billion to allow Ukraine to rearm itself through the purchase of weapons and munitions and another nearly $15 billion for support services such as military training and intelligence sharing. The support also includes nonmilitary assistance. About $8 billion would go to help Ukraine’s government continue basic operations with a prohibition on money going toward pensions. And there’s about $1.6 billion to help Ukraine’s private sector. About a third of the money allocated to supporting Ukraine actually will be spent replenishing the U.S. military with the weapons and equipment that are going to Kyiv. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell has repeatedly emphasized that point, saying in a statement Tuesday that the money is about “reaffirming a commitment to rebuild and modernize our military, restore our credibility, and give the current Commander-in-Chief, as well as the next, more tools to secure our interests.” Posted by: L - They don't have to outrun and bear, they only have to outrun us - for now at February 16, 2024 05:13 PM (GshMh) 180

U. S. Department of Labor, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs General Affirmative Action Programs Frequently Asked Questions (In part) May an employer override an individual’s self-identification of race, gender or ethnicity based on the employer’s visual observation? No. OFCCP’s policy is that deference should be given to an individual’s self-identification and it should not be questioned or overridden by an employer based on the employer’s visual observation. How should contractors handle counting employees and/or applicants who identify as a gender other than male or female such as Gender X as is recognized in California? Those contractors that must develop and maintain Affirmative Action Programs under Executive Order 11246 are strongly encouraged to invite all applicants and employees to voluntarily self-identify their gender (as well as their race and ethnicity). OFCCP has not mandated a particular method for a contractor to obtain information about a person's gender.
