Reagan famously didn't recognize one of his Cabinet secretaries; I doubt that Biden could even name half of them, let alone recognize them in a meeting. It is all just operating on autopilot.

I've given my take a few times on The Revolution, which operates outside the Democrat Party for the most part, but uses it as a front group. I think that Trump's term in office was similar to Gorby's Pereikstroka moment. The masks and lies that the establishment built were ripped off.

The truth is that most of the money spent in Washington involve giving tax and borrowed fedgov money to people and trying to take that away from various groups is damn near impossible unless you have an existing catastrophe (large scale war, something like Yellowstone super volcanoe/asteroid, New Madrid Earthquake, or financial devastation (loss of reserve status).

Note that here many people call for Social Security to be abolished---it doesn't happen because people in the system or near to receiving it argued it is earned. Same for cutting government pensions and salaries. Same for cutting education spending, defense spending, etc. etc.

A reset is needed and that requires either default via continuing massive inflation or you have a deflationary reset via formal default so harsh that all the inflated values in society go back to the actual productive value of the asset
