He constantly lies about Beau being killed in Iraq. But I guess he's not lying -- he's just an elderly man with a "significantly limited" memory whose mental state is too deteriorated to form the mens rea to intentionally lie. Spencer Brown at TownHall:

I... don't see how Biden continues. I don't. Like I said in the last thread, I know I've been saying he's not going to be the nominee for years (and in fact doubted in 2016 he'd make it to November). But this is an Official Government Document branding the President of the United States as senile and too mentally deteriorated to form the necessary cognitive state of "willfulness" required by a crime. (By the way: A commenter pointed out that while he may be demented now, presumably he wasn't demented when he was a senator stealing these documents, so the DOJ's excuse for not prosecuting him actually makes no legal sense. They should just be clear that Biden's brain is, in their estimation, too far gone for him to really have any continuity with or connection to the man who committed these crimes.) The media will of course attempt to bury it, but it is Unburiable. Furthermore, there are prominent Democrats like David Axelrod who have been banging the drum for Biden to step aside (or be moved aside by more competent people). Will he go silent now? Now that the DOJ has officially declared that Joe Biden is mentally unfit to stand trial? Doubtful. This is not great news for us, because... Well, Joe Biden was one Democrat we thought that Trump could actually beat, with negatives even higher than his own. Will he be able to beat the replacement? Hard to say. But remember, the DNC will not unveil the replacement until the last possible second, thereby denying us the opportunity to inform the public about whichever corrupt leftist they've selected. Nominees lose popularity throughout the campaign season. The DNC and corrupt election-rigging media is scheming to unveil the nominee in.... August, a few short months before the election, and then relying on the tech monopolies to suppress all negative stories about the Surprise Candidate. Thanks to andycanuck.

This is probably one of the reasons he can't even ballpark it.
First, it hasn't happened yet. Since Biden is apparently spending a lot of time in the 90s, Beau is probably still alive much of the time.
Beyond that, Beau dies all the time and due to all sorts of things. Biden has told so many discrete and contradictory lies about Beau's death and has done so for so long that he probably *can't* suss out the truth anymore.

Eventually, even careful handling of increasingly dangerous stimulants can't get the job done.
The SOTU ought to be interesting. Like they have previously, they are going to shoot him up with the best possible drug cocktail and manage the preceding days very carefully to ensure he is well-rested and probably try to scheme it out so that he feels like it's morning (adjust his sleeping schedule for a week or so in advance).
If he can put on a good (by Biden standards) show for 45-60 minutes, that will be telling. He was able to do it last year and the year before, and in a couple of other important addresses over the past couple of years.
If SOTU is a poor performance (by Biden standards) or runs for 30 minutes or less, they can't manage him anymore even under favorable conditions.

A lot of that is Newsom doing his own thing to try to raise his profile and slide in. I don't think he's answering to Kalorama for those things. I think he's making an independent play.
And Newsom has two huge problems and one minor problem.
First, he's a he and he's white. That's a pretty big problem right now. If he were a she (like Whitmer), he'd have a better shot but he isn't.
Second, he's from California. That's a really serious problem. There is enormous maneuvering room when it comes to fixing elections, but synthesizing the entire thing is a pretty tall order, and they'd probably have to pull out the stops to make up the gap for *any* California candidate. California politicians don't seem to understand just how deeply they're held in contempt by the interior, by people who identify with either party. Moreso among Republicans, of course, but not exclusively. I don't think *any* California politician can credibly carry a national election.
The minor problem is his track record of destruction in CA.

I looked up the 25th to review the procedure. There's the voluntary route, the President himself declares he can't perform his duties.
The involuntary route takes the initiative of the Vice President. Only the VP can start it, and it takes a majority of the cabinet (or other such body as Congress may by law provide -- they haven't) to agree POTUS is unfit.
They they officially inform Congress, and the VP becomes Acting President. Now, if POTUS disputes this, he transmits this to Congress. If the VP and majority of the cabinet still say he is unfit, Congress immediately must decide.
It takes 2/3 vote of both houses to override POTUS declaration that he is not unfit.

1.) He is leading his own defense, but has a couple of actual lawyers to help him (and they have taken over when he hasn't been in court.)
2.) Apparently the reason this was tried in DC was that originally National Review was a co-defendant (I forget whether they published Simberg's article or Steyn's, but it was one of them), and by the time Steyn cut ties with them because he figured out that they were just out to save their own asses and to heck with him, it was too late to ask for a change of venue.
3.) Regarding Mann's legal fees, he was forced to admit during the trial that an unknown source has been paying his legal fees. If I were Steyn, I'd drop Musk a line and see if he can spare some more money from the same pocket from which he is pulling the support he's going to give Carano. Otherwise, this motherfucker may literally lawfare two men to death (he already did it to Tim Ball in Canada.)
