Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | McConnell Advises Republican Senators to Vote "No" on Amnesty Bill He Personally NegotiatedThis party must be abandoned. We cannot continue like this, where we never even get to fight the Democrats -- we're constantly having to fight our own "leaders" to please, please, for once, take our side in a debate. But they won't: The GOP Establishment loathes, detests, hates, despises its own voters. We are, in fact, Deplorables in their eyes.Facing a torrent of criticism from conservatives, Senate Republicans on Monday resisted advancing on a bipartisan proposal intended to clamp down on illegal border crossings, signaling a likely defeat in Congress that would leave leaders with no clear path to approve wartime aid for Ukraine. In a dramatic turnaround, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell recommended to GOP senators in a closed-door meeting that they vote against the first procedural vote Wednesday, according to two people familiar with the meeting who were not authorized to talk publicly about it and spoke anonymously. It came just hours after the Kentucky Republican had urged colleagues on the Senate floor that "it's now time for Congress to take action." But McConnell has struggled to marshal his conference to support the package of $118 billion package of border enforcement policy and funding for Ukraine, Israel and other U.S. allies. Senate negotiators on Sunday night released the text of the bill, hoping that the details would win over skeptics. The carefully negotiated deal represented a rightward shift in Senate negotiations over border measures, yet the backlash was still intense from conservatives. They savaged the border policy proposal as insufficient, with former President Donald Trump leading the charge. "This is a gift to the Democrats. And this sort of is a shifting of the worst border in history onto the shoulders of Republicans," Trump, the likely Republican presidential nominee, said Monday on "The Dan Bongino Show." "They want this for the presidential election so they can now blame the Republicans for the worst border in history."Via Jazz Shaw at Hot Air, who adds: Lankford is the missing piece of the puzzle here. As recently as yesterday, he went on Fox and Friends and continued to defend the bill, criticizing Republicans who were opposing it. He was generous enough to say that if conservatives were fighting against the idea of allowing 5,000 illegal aliens to be released into the country each day, "We can do 3,000." The backlash against his plan back in his home state led some members of the Oklahoma Republican Party to hold a meeting to discuss censuring him, though the measure was not officially passed. Others took to social media calling on Lankford to resign.McConnell's determination to ram through yet another Comprehensive Amnesty will have several terrible aftereffects. On the strictly political side, it gives Biden and Schumer what they actually wanted all along: A way to blame Republicans for the Democrats' border catastrophe. Democrats will claim the solution to the open border crisis was at hand, but Republicans rejected it for political reasons. Indeed, turncoat "Republican" liberal James Lankford is going out on all the political talk shows making exactly that case. On the policy side, Democrats will now insist that this weak "deal" establish the contours of any future "deal." In other words: The Republicans have announced that they seek only the tiniest breadcrumbs in exchange for mass amnesty; why would Democrats ever agree to offer more than breadcrumbs in any "deal"? McConnell has committed us, out to the medium future, to sharing the Democrats' Amnesty First, Security Last (or Never) agenda. The "deal," by the way, contained a Very Special Betrayal for conservatives: The bill would make the ultra-liberal DC Circuit Court the only court empowered to decide questions about immigration and border enforcement. We've seen some good rulings coming out of the Fifth Circuit on the border; this "deal" would take all cases away from any conservative-tilted court and give them all to the leftwing DC circuit. This is a "deal." You guys are excited by this "deal," right? Sean Davis on McConnell's walkback: Sean Davis Dinesh D'SouzaI don't think that's it. This paints Lankford as some good-hearted innocent and naif. He's quite the opposite: He's a conniving, Gollum-like servitor of the Regime, dressing up his gonzo devotion to transnational progressivism and the WEF as "Christian" missionary work. My thoughts exactly: Jesse Kelly
Below: Lankford has long been committed to Amnesty First. That's why McConnell picked him.

His bill released yesterday would allow 5,000 people a day to illegally enter our country.
It's better than that - when you hit 5,000 people in a day, you just direct the excess to an official port of entry, where they can come in anyway. Also, another provision of the bill states that the 5,000 limit only applies to people from countries continuous to the US. So, the limit is 5,000 Mexicans or Canadians - unlimited numbers of Afghanis or Venezuelans can come in. Posted by: The ARC of History! at February 06, 2024 12:15 PM (YAtuc) 57

Willowed on topic:
illegals don't steal jobs, they take jobs that others refuse to do, or at least do well. From my experience here in NoVa, a bad area that sees an influx of illegal Hispanics can turn around and be full of thriving businesses in short order. Also, there's a reason that people hire them for construction: they work hard. Granted, they now control the construction trades, but that's because they do a better job for less money, at least that's my experience. - It is illegal for illegals to work in the U.S. Full stop. If they are working, they are stealing someone's job and eventually will take over the trade. I've watched it play out over the course of my life here in the South. Illegals will do the work but the job won't be much cheaper because the legal bossman knows he'd be a fool to underbid by that much. He pockets the difference. Soon no Americans can compete and would you look at that, drywall, roofing, lawncare, etc. are now almost entirely one demographic. It's not much different than how walmart drove all the mom and pops out of business. Posted by: Moron Robbie - The RNC is the NRA of the GOP at February 06, 2024 12:18 PM (AIJ3L) 84

The only bill I'd accept would be 100 billion for walls, mines, tunnel busting ordnance, and pillboxes, along with 99% tax on remittances south of the border, and minimum 5000 a day, on average, flung back over the razor wire fence with trebuchets. Sounds more like Bud Abbott.... Posted by: JT at February 06, 2024 12:10 PM (T4tVD) One caveat I have to attach to Abbott's admirable work in sealing off Eagle Pass, and it is a big one: Nearly all the rest of the Texas border is still basically wide open, and illegals are continuing to pour through it. The Eagle Pass standoff was useful insofar as it embarrassed the Biden regime and produced a show of unity among GOP governors. But let's not pretend they've "solved" the problem. The GOPe seem to think their constituents measure success in the passage of bills to law. Just waive in the air a law that passed - "See we did something". That is the trick in all of this.
What has surprised them is that many are measuring success on the number of illegal crossings by foreigners. When the bill says 5K a day and that the rest are at the discretion of Joe Biden's appointee - we all understand there is no change in that number except it goes from "illegal" crossings to "legal" under the bill. In fact, what this bill really does is prevent a re-elected President Trump from ACTUALLY closing the border. So, this is a success for the GOPe as it would corner Trump. No bill is better than a bad bill. Posted by: Jake Speed at February 06, 2024 12:24 PM (Vu1jV) 118

Ace, this is actually an improvement in the GOPe, and should be viewed as a significant victory. In the past, we'd have some failure theater with the bill being passed by the narrowest of margins because of a handful of "moderate" GOPers. The party would gaslight us, talk tough, and hope we'd forget about it by November.
Now, though, they're a little shaken, because they've suffered a few electoral losses due to pissing off (and on) the base, and they KNOW Trump is a loose bull in a china shop, and will mercilessly call the GOPe out and vocally campaign against them for this kind of betrayal. Sure, I'd rather they actually believe in the priorities of the base, and joyfully fight for us, but I'll accept them fearing us, and doing our bidding to save their sinecures. AP, in part, At issue is a provision in the bipartisan package that would grant the Homeland Security secretary emergency authority to prohibit entry for most individuals if an average of more than 4,000 people per day try to enter the country unlawfully over the course of a week. If the number reaches 5,000 or if 8,500 try to enter unlawfully in a single day, use of the authority would be mandatory. Wut?
And then, "If the proposal were passed into law, the new authority could be triggered almost immediately, given that border encounters topped 10,000 on some days during December, which was the highest month on record for illegal crossings. President Joe Biden has said he would use the authority to “shut down” the border." Heh. Close all open border areas; scoop up the Visa overstays; stop the fly-in, birthright citizenship sites - hospitals, hotels, gated communities. Selective Service registration cards for ALL eligible men. Papers for all on government's Humanitarian Parole programs and/or TPS - and those papers must be made available to authorities, police, for rental agreements, etc. And, no more Ukraine funding. Message the Democrats should hammer them on is that they turned down better border security. If the message is pushed really hard it will totally fuck a number of Republicans.
McConnell set this up to be the message. This will be the campaign. LIVs have no idea what was in the bill or what the bill was about, so will believe this message. So, even though it isn't passing - it is still doing McConnell's work of helping Dems and harming republicans (particularly Trump). And you can't tell me he didn't see this coming. There were 2 potential outcomes - the bill is passed screwing us, or the GOP votes against the bill and the message becomes the above. Either way a win for the left/open borders crowd. Iowans (of whom I am one) have been sending Grassley’s desiccated corpse to Washington for over 3 decades and he’s accomplished nothing in particular. Given the chance to vote for someone who gives a damn in the 2022 primary, Grassley won with over 80% of the vote.
We’re getting what we deserve, and we’re getting it good and hard. Grassley hasn't been phenomenal, but he's been more reliably conservative than many other Republican senators. He's had a few moments here and there. Iowa was, until recently, a fairly purple state, split between Grassley and Harkin(!) for senators. As an Iowan myself, my bigger concern is Grassley supporting his family members in running for elected offices...and speculation is he'll try to get one to replace him. Posted by: TheJamesMadison -------- Trump's first budget proposal had a number of cuts in it. The GOP controlled House and Senate ignored it. Simply put, there is no constituency for smaller budgets. The GOP borrows and spends and the Dems tax, borrow, and spend. The Dems tax mainly to punish their political opponents. The GOP occasionally raises taxes to support giveaways to corporations (and in states to education etc. to buy votes). The national government is going to crash--whether it is fiscal only or fiscal-plus war (internal or external). The question is exactly when and how bad it will be. If you get on Twitter Dems/left/liberals are claiming Lankford was threatened by Rethuglican Magatards and Bad Orange Man. Threatened with primary challenger or a simple "i'm not voting for you" are totally reasonable. Picket signs outside his house or offices is, too, though GOP/right/conservatives have families and jobs and very little time for that. 24/7 protesting, chasing people into bathrooms, swatting, bricks, firebombs, pistols, more or less in that order are leftist tactics but those get ignored.

Loving every bit of this story and comments. Lankford is, indeed, a stupid inexperienced Gollum, but also a longtime symp for illegal aliens. Perfect stoolie for Cocaine Mitch. But so many other utter scumbags in the Senate it's almost hard to narrow it.
Todd Young from my state of Indiana is scum. Posted by: Jerome at February 06, 2024 02:07 PM (3x7XI) 503

But Kirby said that razor wire fences don't work.

I'd actually like to see a live demonstration of Kirby trying to get through a razor wire fence. Hilarity to ensure. Posted by: Cheri at February 06, 2024 02:22 PM (oiNtH) 505
Even more important to be aware since the neo-marxists have their targets set on the US churches for takeover. They are using theological concepts and terms, incorrectly, of course, to insert marxism into the bodies. Beware supposed believers with political aims.
Our Methodist church told HQ that we don't want to be in their gay offspring church and we also don't want in their new "Global" version either. We're now fully dis-associated and our pastor costs are down by 50% or more. However, in reality, this a net win for the Left because they succeeded in pulling out yet another thread from the American fabric. One park in Eagle Pass, Gov Abbott?
Nice. That will get you on Fox News and you will get to continue to con people. But you know what would be good? Add about 999 miles of border to that. You do that, and you will win friends. Maybe I’ll sing your praises! As will thousands of others. Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at February 06, 2024 03:11 PM (CNd16) 507
McConnell's rumpswabs used to boast about his incredible genius for "the long game." It was actually always the Long Con, and by now everyone sees it leads to nothing poverty, chaos and death for GOP voters. But LOTS of Chamber cash for Mitch and cronies.

First McConnell then all the rest of the RINOs. Start with the National GOP. Send them all to Chicago or NY where they can be carjacked with extreme prejudice. Insure their cars have jewish decals.

All the masks are coming off. The Rinos must be exterminated. As for the Lefturds, they hate America and next to be exterminated.

I seriously doubt he would want to take the pay cut but getting Jesse Kelly to become the Piece of Furniture of the RNC would change the world. For those who need it Kelly would stiffen spines, remind Electeds that yes they do have balls or lady balls, prevent the Rs from entering every negotiation with the Ds from a position of subservience. Our country needs someone like this - to get the ball rolling. A few victories would show those who need it that losing sucks. Kelly's successes in this regard would encourager les autres.
