That was the message of Bank of America Chief Executive Brian Moynihan as he responded to criticism of the movement pushing companies and investors to consider environmental, social and governance goals. He added that CEOs view ESG goals such as combating climate change and making their workforce more diverse as integral to the long-term health of their companies.Fortunately, there is growing pushback to Mr. Moynihan’s eco-communist agenda from elected officials in freedom-loving red states. [Another reminder that we can actually advance our agenda and fight back in the culture wars at state and local levels. That is where your vote is most important. – Buck] A coalition of a dozen state agriculture commissioners just wrote to Bank of America and five other woke mega-banks (Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo) seeking clarity on those banks’ plans to cripple American agriculture in pursuit of “Net Zero” goals. “State agriculture officials press banks on involvement with climate bloc: 'We hold serious concerns'” [Just The News – 01/29/2024] In the Monday letter, the group…warned that "we hold serious concerns over commitments made by your bank as part of the Net-Zero Banking Alliance ('NZBA'), and the potential impacts on the agriculture sector; specifically, food availability and price increases on consumers, credit access for our farmers and agriculture product producers, and overall negative economic consequences."You’ll not be shocked to learn that the Net-Zero Banking Alliance was created by the United Nations. Its purpose is to encourage powerful financial institutions to use their money and power to impose Net Zero onto their respective countries. And of course, nearly all of the United States’ largest banks have pledged their fealty to this globalist organization that is hostile to our economic freedom. "Due to the potential impacts to agriculture, we are seeking more information regarding what appear to be troubling environmental commitments by your banks that target our farmers, ranchers, and agriculture producers, with grave consequences for consumers and that undermine the security of our food supply," the group continued. Will Hild of Consumers Research directed some harsh comments at Brian Moynihan by name… "By forcing ESG, Brian Moynihan and his cohort have driven the cost of doing business for small family farmers and independent ranchers to astronomical heights…"Mr. Hild also pointed out that Moynihan and his compatriots’ radical agenda “will put our entire food supply in serious jeopardy.” Brian Moynihan’s endorsement of ESG and Net Zero as a tool to

Just as Disney has been effectively neutered by Florida, we need to do the same to the Banks. I'm thinking a total ban on any Non-American ownership; perhaps a return to only allowing specific Banks to operate in a single state. Use the Sherman anti-trust act to break them all up.

||EU policies are suffocating European farmers with “Soviet-style administration of agriculture,” French MEP says
Protesting farmers were met by riot police with fire hoses just metres from the European Parliament on Thursday, as they tried to grab the attention of the European Council by expressing their collective outrage at EU green policies threatening their livelihood. In an unusually rowdy protest, even by Brussels standards, tyre fires and tractor blockades greeted European leaders as a transnational coalition of farming groups took to the streets. They are angered by EU green policies—including decrees forcing active farmland to go fallow, restricting the use of fertiliser, and limiting permitted amount of livestock—as well as national edicts such as reduced subsidies on diesel fuel—that are direct results of the EU’s Net Zero commitments.|| Posted by: andycanuck (2yu8s) at February 02, 2024 11:07 AM (2yu8s) Posted by: Bulgaroctonus at February 02, 2024 11:08 AM (9yWhg) 16

||Volvo, An Early Electric Car Adopter, Cuts Off Funding For Its EV Affiliate STOCKHOLM -- Volvo Car said it won’t provide further funding to Polestar, the electric-car maker it created with Volvo’s Chinese owner Geely—the latest EV retrenchment by the global auto industry. The auto industry’s pivot to electric vehicles has been rocked by setbacks this year, just as a flood of new battery-powered models is hitting showrooms. Earlier this week, French automaker Renault said it has decided to cancel the initial public offering of its electric-car unit Ampere. Ford, meanwhile, has slashed production of its electric F-150 Lightning, a pickup truck that has generated major buzz since its launch. Rental-car firm Hertz has said it was dumping about one-third of its EV rental car fleet, replacing the cars with gas-engine vehicles.|| Posted by: andycanuck (2yu8s) at February 02, 2024 11:09 AM (2yu8s) 20

Made GMS look good in the 80s and 90s. Then a weird thing happened. Competition was allowed from non-French makers as the EU took shape. And Renault, Peugeot and Citroen were forced to get their shit together or disappear. Now their cars are competitive. Free market does good things. CEOs like Moynihan made a bad choice when they betrayed liberty-loving, free-market conservatives. ...
++++ No they didn't. Not even in the slightest. These things are nuisances, but not really threats. They're fine. As to their alliance, they did not ally with the Left, they allied with the State. That is not a major distinction at this point, but their politics are beholden to their fascist interests. The real benefit is not the status conferred upon them by being left-wing, the real benefit is the status conferred upon them by being arms of the State. The State happens to be left-wing and controlled by the Party and so the corporations are left-wing and cooperate with the Party. That's where the bread is buttered. BofA's market cap was about $56 billion - or about 0.6% of GDP - at the end of 1998, just before the merger of State and Finance kicked into high gear with the repeal of Glass-Steagall. In 2023, it was about $271.5 billion - or about 0.97% of GDP. The enterprise nearly doubled in relative terms since they all teamed up with Big State. And that kind of wealth advancement correlates well with power advancement. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at February 02, 2024 11:28 AM (B2vkr) 106

------- DC court judge had no choice in the matter. Trump did an interlocutory appeal regarding presidential immunity that must be adjudicated at the Court of Appeals level (and possibly then appealed to Scotus). 151 123 Unless they announce they are dropping the cases, I would read them pulling the cases from the calendar as simply resource management and refocusing on other cases that they feel are better cases to bring.
------- DC court judge had no choice in the matter. Trump did an interlocutory appeal regarding presidential immunity that must be adjudicated at the Court of Appeals level (and possibly then appealed to Scotus). Presidential immunity essentially would kill the DC case so the issue must be addressed before a trial can take place. The judge is the one that pulled it from the trial calendar--probably reluctantly based on prior rulings. The TBTF bank movement that was vastly increased by the 2008 financial crisis means that fedgov is more at the mercy of the big bank's health than vice versa. Fedgov needs someone to sell and buy the huge amounts of bonds that they are floating to finance the debt and the big banks aka prime dealers are how they do it.
Means systematic failure of the fedgov and TBTF banking when the system goes down. Posted by: whig at February 02, 2024 11:39 AM (ZcPYF) ++++ Oh yes. It accelerated hard in 2007-2009, and built upon foundations laid in the early 90s ("The Greenspan Put"), the mid 90s (the bailout of LTCM) and the early aughts (Greenspan's post-dotcom interventions in the capital markets). Both here and abroad, they all mashed down the accelerator during the financial crisis, but the scale of that depended on much of the prior work over the preceding decade or so. And now they are one thing. Big Capital and Big State are bound to each other like two drunks running a three-legged race. When they stumble, they stumble together. When they fall, they fall together. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at February 02, 2024 11:43 AM (B2vkr) 160

The latest beyond ridiculous 83 million dollar verdict really shined a light on this political legal vendetta and has garnered sympathy for Trump. It also is showing those non Trump supporting leaders that they can also be a target if the state decides so.
Posted by: Cobalt Blue ------- See above regarding the DC case and the Florida case has some similar issues. AFAIK, the NY criminal case regarding fraud allegations over hush money is still moving forward with a trial in the next couple of months. The RICO case in GA is also still moving forward but Fani's financial and sexual miscondunct in office have put that case in jeopardy plus GA state level officials are GOP where key NY state officials after Trump are all Dems. Well, any of the leftist class that bought EVs are going to find out they have shitty resale value and most probably serious and expensive repairs lurking in their future. Tesla had a guy that made a million miles driving one of their vehicles but when you tally the number of fixes such as 19 new electric motors and three battery changes as well as how he drove the car (never getting below a certain battery level, mileage was mostly in temperate climate, and so on), it is clear that current technology is rather expensive on the upkeep. Which seems to be a very important part that this gets done BEFORE any of the cases proceed. Does that mean, if Trump is found guilty in those cases, but Smith wasn't legally allowed to prosecute those cases, Trump goes free? I doubt it.
Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) Interlocutory appeals (appeals before and during a trial process) throw off the entire prosecution timeline because you have to wait for the appellate courts to make a ruling and possibly then wait for Scotus to deny or take up cert. Appellate courts are slow by design and interlocutory appeals on a case of first impression (e.g. prosecution of an ex president) are even slower because no one wants to get it wrong (as in triggering Scotus review) at the appellate level. Time is running out for cases and you are more likely to see state cases proceed to trial than the federal before the election. Posted by: whig at February 02, 2024 12:01 PM (ZcPYF) 224
214 BREAKING B-1 bombers have left Lakenheath Air Base in Britain for a mission in the Middle East, a Pentagon official told Sky News Arabia, amid reports on an imminent US airstrike against the positions of Iran-backed militants in Iraq and Syria.

In one case I was involved in, the judge made sure to give her opinion on the evidence and testimony in the case, so that it would hamstring an appeal (even though she ignored other evidence in her opinions). Appeals courts generally don't look at evidence, but if the law was mis-applied or the wrong laws were applied.
It was CYA for this judge, but at least she didn't go so far as to grant monies to the defendant for his (non-existent) legal fees (pro-per) or for legal fees spent in his bankruptcy case, as she knew that WOULD be a problem at the appellate level (although she was apologetic to the defendant...makes you wonder what dirt the defendant had on the judge). Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) Frequent litigants know each other--each court system has its own little legal community of people interacting that know each other from repeated interactions via cases--sort of like 'Night Court' except less laughs. That is generally why it is advisable to have a lawyer plugged into that circuit for any case whether they are lead counsel or not if you want to not appear as an outsider. Outsiders to a particular court group often get crapped on in such cases. Posted by: whig at February 02, 2024 12:05 PM (ZcPYF) 239

Sometimes his anger starts in the morning and other times at night. I just don’t under stand it. What shall I do?” The Doctor tells her, “When this happens, fill a glass of water and take a big sip and then just swish it around in your mouth. Do not swallow it. Just swish, swish it around. Then spit it our and repeat as needed. That should do it.” Two weeks later she returns to the doctor. “Doctor! That was wonderful advice! It really worked. The easiest way to deal with these banks would be to lower the barrier to entry for more small banks. Let Joe's First Savings Bank And Waffle House start handling accounts like Remington. They'll grow by providing services and secure banking to these folks, and before you know it, the rest of the monoliths will start wondering where their deposits went.
