Axios: "Trump, Republicans Plot to Kill Border Deal"

The verb plot connotes secrecy and skulduggery.

But Trump and the anti-"deal" Republicans are announcing their position and their intent publicly, with no deception.

But Axios, aka Politico for Kidz!, thinks it's just generally underhanded to oppose leftwing Democrat propagandists and traitors.

Republican and Democratic senators are taking to the airwaves, scrambling to pass severe restrictions on migrants flooding across the U.S.-Mexico border. There's just one thing: Their plan is all but dead.

Why it matters: The Senate might pass the plan, which would be one of the harshest immigration bills of the century.

It's so harsh that it writes into law that 150,000 illegals are allowed to enter the country in a 30-day month without fear of deportation.

President Biden is ready to sign it. But House Republicans -- egged on by former President Trump -- already are planning to shut it down.

Mike Johnson announced it was "dead on arrival" before Trump made any statements about it.

State of play: Illegal immigration has rocketed to the top of voters' concerns, and Biden has become increasingly desperate for a solution. Trump and conservative Republicans see a political opportunity to squeeze Biden and Democrats on the issue.

This is the treasonous propaganda line: Everyone knows this is a great bill which will "fix the border," but nasty Republicans oppose it just to deny Biden credit for "fixing the border."

The fact that it includes no money for a wall, does not authorize deportations except in very narrow circumstances and only for limited time periods, and does not narrow the grounds for making Fake Asylum claims don't count.

Biden says this is a perfect bill and you should believe him, he's never lied or raped an employee before.

Trump, whose front-runner status in the Republican presidential race has solidified his leadership of the GOP, has loudly vowed to kill the bipartisan border deal.

"It's not going to happen, and I'll fight it all the way," Trump said Saturday in Nevada.

Zoom in: House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has fallen in line. He called the deal "dead on arrival" on Friday, then doubled down over the weekend, claiming it wouldn't do enough to stop illegal border crossings.

Interesting that Johnson said this Friday and Trump make his statement Saturday but Johnson "fell in line" with a statement that would be made in the future.

Karen Armstrong writes that Jill Biden is out on the campaign trail in place of her invalid rapist husband, making the same case that Republicans know this bill is just So Awesome but are opposing it just to hurt Joe Biden.

Via the Daily Mail:

'You see what happened today with the border, and now Trump is trying to do everything he can to make Joe look bad, you know, even at the lives -- sacrificing lives of so many people just for his own political gain,' she told donors to her husband's re-election campaign.

'I know it's early to start, but I want you to sort of think after you leave tonight that yes, I am committed to a democracy. And yes, I'm going to fight as hard as I can and not let anything like 2016 happen again.'

You mean, you're going to fight to make sure we don't have a fair and free election?

Yes we already knew that.

The Daily Mail points out that Joe Biden's immigration policy is... largely shaped by "Doctor" Jill Biden.

Biden's border policy has been particularly influenced by the first lady, his advisors told the Wall Street Journal, because of her reaction to the Trump administration's policy of family separations and his 'Remain in Mexico' program.

During the 2020 campaign, Jill Biden visited a tent camp of migrants living just across the southern border in Matamoros, Mexico.

Over the weekend, a group of former FBI officials wrote an urgent letter to Joe Biden informing him that the terrorists freely flowing across the open border presented a clear and present danger to US citizens' lives.

The Biden administration's border policy poses an "imminent danger" to the US, which has been "invaded" by "military-aged men from around the globe," a group of former FBI officials warned.

In a letter sent Jan. 17 to leaders in the House and Senate, 10 former FBI senior executives said the migrant crisis is " the most pernicious ever to menace the United States.

"In its modern history, the US has never suffered an invasion of the homeland, and yet one is unfolding now," according to the officials, which included former Terrorist Screening Center Director Timothy Healy, FBI assistant directors Kevin Brock and Chris Swecker, and Mark Morgan, the former acting commissioner US Customs and Border Protection who also an ex-FBI superintendent.

"Military-aged men from across the globe, many from countries or regions not friendly to the United States are landing in waves on our soil by the thousands -- not by splashing ashore from a ship or parachuting from a plane but rather by foot across a border that has been accurately advertised around the world as largely unprotected and with ready access granted," the letter continued.

The matter is even more pressing than ever, particularly after the Oct. 7 terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel, they warned.

"It is stark to say so, but having a large number of young males now within our borders who could begin attacking gatherings of unarmed citizens, in imitation of 10/7 and at the behest of a foreign terror group, must be considered a distinct possibility," the officials wrote.

"We would be remiss not to call out this potentially grave threat in the most direct terms. The warning lights are blinking."

...

And all the more stunning in light of terrorist attacks on our own soil, said New York Rep. Nicole Malliotakis.

"It's shocking that in a post 9/11 world that the Biden administration would have an open border policy with such lax vetting," she said. "They are even allowing people with no real identification to board airplanes, which is directly against the 9/11 Commission recommendations."

This is not a hypothetical concern.

Federal authorities caught a terrorist at the U.S. southern border and released him into the country, where he roamed freely for nearly a year before being arrested in Minnesota just days ago, according to an internal federal memo exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The unnamed individual, who the memo only identifies as a member of the Somali terror group al-Shabaab, was released shortly after being caught illegally crossing the southern border near San Ysidro, California on March 13, 2023, according to the memo, which the DCNF is not publishing in order to protect the identity of a confidential source. The Terrorist Screening Center "deemed him a 'mismatch'" after running his name through the terror watchlist, according to the memo, which was sent to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.

However, on January 18, 2024, the Terrorist Screening Center "made a redetermination" that the individual was "a confirmed member of al-Shabaab" and was involved in the use, manufacture or transport of explosives or firearms, the memo states. Two days later, ICE nabbed the al-Shabaab member in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Border Patrol caught 172 terror watchlist suspects attempting to enter the U.S. illegally during fiscal year 2023. Former homeland security officials say the constant deluge of illegal immigrants hitting the southern border is making it easier for bad actors to slip into the country.

"Pouncing" and "seizing" is for when the press can't hide the fact that the Democrats screwed up. So the story is about how mean the Republicans are for noticing the screw-up.

They're determined to pretend the Democrats are in the right here, so it's a Republican "plot" to stop the righteous Democrats, to highlight how EVILLLLLL the Republicans are.

They have to say this stuff. Have to.

Why? Because they're losing, and they have to try to hold onto the few people who still want to be lied to. It's a sickness, and it's represents the desperation of a power source that is losing its grip.

129 Republicans Who Screamed About A Crisis On The Border Now Oppose A Plan To Fix It. Many on the right claim the U.S. is being "invaded" by migrants but also want to wait until Donald Trump is elected president again to stop it.

It lays bare the hypocrisy that is a quest for authoritarianism and Christian nationalism, a cruel, dehumanizing ideology. There are no issues, only the quest for absolute power to harm their imagined opponents.

The border has never been anything more than a talking point for republicans. They had a supermajority under trump, and all they did was separate parents from their children, then lose track of where the various family members went. Caravans of migrants magically appear right before November elections, then -- just as magically -- disappear right after the election, never to be heard of again until the next election comes around.

Biden is crushing it. The economy, stock market, manufacturing jobs, STEM jobs, union support, etc. The GOP, for decades, has only run on fear campaigns and we FINALLY called their bluff on the border.

150 142 Constitutional Amendment: No bill may be voted on in Congress until two weeks have passed since it was posted - in it's final form - on publicly accessible media except for emergency situations (in which case it is 4 weeks). An affirmative vote of 2/3 of both Houses is required to declare an issue an emergency. All Members who vote to declare an issue an emergency are barred from holding any governmental office - elected, appointed, or other.

151 " so harsh that it writes into law that 150,000 illegals are allowed to enter the country in a 30-day month without fear of deportation."

that wouldn't include the "gottaways" which at least doubles that number, and that is IF there is anything close to an honest count on the processed illegals.

In other words, passing the law would codify the current invasion ... with extra goodies for the invaders (like work permits).

158 129 It lays bare the hypocrisy that is a quest for authoritarianism and Christian nationalism, a cruel, dehumanizing ideology.

164 Ho ho ho: new developments in the E. Jean Carroll kangaroo court.

There may be a reason why Trump wasn’t given the opportunity to adequately defend himself. It appears that Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, who presided over the case, may have a major conflict of interest.

The New York Post has learned that Kaplan was once a “mentor” to Carroll’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan. The two aren’t related, but they worked together in the early 1990s at the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkin, Wharton & Garrison in Midtown.

In a letter filed on Monday, Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, demanded answers:

If Your Honor truly worked with Ms. Kaplan in any capacity—especially if there was a mentor/mentee relationship—that fact should have been disclosed before any case involving these parties was permitted to proceed forward. This issue is particularly concerning since Plaintiff’s other lead counsel, Shawn Crowley, served as Your Honor’s law clerk, and we were previously advised that Your Honor co-officiated her wedding. 28 U.S.C. Section 455(a) states that “[a]ny… judge … of the United States shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.”

Everyone who heads a field office wants to end up running something in DC. To run something in DC, you have to do what the people in DC would want.

369 Yea, Mueller and then Comey have politicized the FBI and changed the promotion process to favor those who would play ball with their politics. That forced a lot of agents to leave including a couple I know.

Some of the old timers were straight shooters. They are mostly retired now.

As Vivek keeps telling us, there's some 8k "agents" - employees with the 1811 designation in the FBI.

One of the forgotten little bits of news from early 2023 was that Mitch did not get the final, unanimous vote for his leadership that is standard if there is an actual leadership contention.

The handful (my guess would be roughly 15, but it's just a guess) of Senators who refused to vote for him simply wouldn't give him the satisfaction of supporting him at all and denying him that victory.

I think the hatred of McConnell is pretty deep within the Republican caucus. He just controls too much money so he buys slightly more loyalty than hatred he engenders.

448 So the al-Shabaab terrorist was given a year in our country to train other terrorists (presumably fellow Somalis who are either now citizens or green card holders- home-grown, domestic terrorists!!) "in the use, manufacture or transport of explosives or firearms".

451 Re: The Immigration "Reform" bill

I really need to shut my yap at work, but I couldn't help commenting to a "severely conservative" partner (who probably thinks Mitt Romney is a true statesman) that 1) Biden already has executive power to close the border, always has, 2) the "reform" would allow 150K illegals PER MONTH to traipse on in, and 3) maybe if throwing more money at the Ukes is so important to "defending a democracy" (his words) then it should have been separated out from this abortion of a bill. He didn't have a good response.

And these people think they're "conservative."

453 The bill is so tough the usual sewer rats are doing everything they can to keep the public from seeing it. Typical fascist tactics from our politburo comrades in DC.

454 Next, they get tough on Congressional pedophiles. You only get to rape little boys 5 times a week, comrades. Sorry, but what can ya do? Those damned right-wingers and their uncompromising puritanism!
