Their actual framing is that a much higher proportion of the population is actually gay than commonly understood, that societal pressures force many gays to live in the closet, and that exposing them to gay relationships early allows them to see that being their true selves is fine and accepted and should be celebrated.

Given how the staffing filters and "talent" sources work in education, how did enough people at the OK education department make their way in - and then to a position of power high enough - to enable hiring her as an advisor? This should be impossible. Virtually nobody gets through, let alone enough people who are then able to rise to the level that they can do something like this.

We were fools to think that it was just between two people, only damaging themselves. Instead, the hormones involved can cause more effeminancy but that in and of itself does not cause one to be 'gay'. The term, more correctly used here is 'soyboy' and it has certain physiological characteristics.

One of the reasons is that schooling back then had superior teachers, strict behavioral standards, and the emphasis was on education--not social work. Women working outside the home at the time had teaching or nursing as the primary acceptable jobs and thus you had a lot of high iq women going into teaching and often then either leaving to get married or spinsterhood.

Something like 30-40 percent of males (last time I paid any attention to that line of research) go gay inside prisons. English boarding schools are notorious for it and places like the Seven Sisters, etc. often have higher levels of same sex relations than a community college in the hinterlands.

What is true for you is not necessarily true for the group and when you appeal to 'my experience' you are limiting the validity of what you say to just your case. Still data and all that, but there is a reason both for stereotyping and for studies based on an average of experiences among a greater number than a single case is the better way to go.

On a remote jobs site this morning, I completed two of their skills tests, one for spelling and grammar and one for punctuation. The former gave me 92%, probably because I marked a sentence with "that person did *their* evaluation" as wrong. The latter, 87%, probably because I don't believe you have to use as many commas as some people think you do.

I doubt these skills tests are worth the electrons they're printed on.
