House Releases Contempt Charges for Hunter Biden

What I think should happen now is that the Very Special Counsel assigned to Hunter Biden will take up the charges, and is more or less under pressure to seek a conviction. If a Very Special Counsel was needed for Hunter's gun and tax charges -- indicating that the DOJ felt there was a conflict of interest that needed to be cured -- then the Very Special Counsel is also needed for these contempt charges.

In fact, there's an even bigger conflict of interest -- Joe Biden does not want his son testifying about Joe Biden's criminal bribery.

But who knows. Merrick Garland is an extremely corrupt individual. NeverTrump must answer for working so, so hard to put this criminal on the Supreme Court.

House Republicans on the Oversight and Judiciary Committees released resolutions Monday recommending Hunter Biden be held in contempt of Congress.

House Oversight and Judiciary are advising the House to hold Hunter Biden in contempt for defying congressional subpoenas by failing to show up to a closed-door deposition Dec. 13, according to their resolutions and accompanying reports.

OVERSIGHT REPORT:

"Mr. Biden's testimony is a critical component of the impeachment inquiry into, among other things, whether Joseph R. Biden, Jr., as Vice President and/or President: (1) took any official action or effected any change in government policy because of money or other things of value provided to himself or his family; (2) abused his office of public trust by providing foreign interests with access to him and his office in exchange for payments to his family or him; or (3) abused his office of public trust by knowingly participating in a scheme to enrich himself or his family by giving foreign interests the impression that they would receive access to him and his office in exchange for payments to his family or him," the Oversight Committee report reads. House Judiciary's report contains similar remarks.

"Mr. Biden's flagrant defiance of the Committees' deposition subpoenas--while choosing to appear nearby on the Capitol grounds to read a prepared statement on the same matters--is contemptuous, and he must be held accountable for his unlawful actions," the Oversight report adds. "Accordingly, the Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability recommends that Congress find Robert Hunter Biden in contempt for his failure to comply with the Committee subpoena issued to him."

Jim Jordan says that Hunter can and should get up to a year in the clink.

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said on Sunday that Hunter Biden faces "serious stuff" with contempt of Congress proceedings that could lead up to a year in jail.

...

"Well, if we pass it [contempt of Congress] out of the committee and then pass it through the full House, which I think we can do, then it goes to the Justice Department. That will be the attorney general's decision whether he's going to press charges," Jordan said.

"But if he does, I mean, it could be up to a year of jail time for failing to come and comply with a deposition for subpoena, a subpoenaed deposition to be interviewed by Congress. So this is serious stuff," the chairman added.

A Democrat swatted the computer shop owner who sent Hunter Biden's laptop to the FBI.

I'm sure Merrick Garland will get right on this, too.

The Delaware computer repairman who went public with the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop says his home was "swatted" Friday night.

"My home was swatted tonight, I was not home but the outstanding men and women of the Wilmington PD responded quickly and professionally," John Paul Mac Isaac posted to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, on Dec. 29. "All that was achieved was the wasted time of the Wilmington PD. NOTHING, let me repeat that, NOTHING will take me out of this fight! Cheers!"

Finally, I know you're going to have a hard time believing this, but Hunter Biden is being hit with new allegations of influence peddling.

Newly disclosed FOIA docs reveal Hunter Biden influence peddling for foreign policy organization

New FOIA production obtained by America First Legal shows Hunter Biden's efforts to secure benefits for a organization for which he was a board member.

By Steven Richards

New documents uncovered by as part of a Freedom of Information lawsuit against the National Archives for documents related to the Biden family's dealings during the Obama Administration reveal how Hunter Biden used his influence with his father's staff to provide benefits to an organization where he served as a board member.

The documents were provided to America First Legal (AFL) after it sued the National Archives and Records Administration in the District of Columbia federal court for documents related to now-President Joe Biden's time as vice president during the Obama Administration.

The most recent document production shows that in 2015 Hunter Biden lobbied for his father, the then-vice president, to be the featured speaker at the Truman National Security Project's conference, while the younger Biden served as a board member at the organization. Last year, the Truman Center's keynote speaker was left-wing media personality Rachel Maddow. The Truman Project did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Just the News. President Biden's 2015 tax forms appear to show that he was not paid for the speech while he was vice president.

Hunter Biden also appears to have used his foreign policy contacts through the administration to help secure a donation for the Truman Project and to attempt to further his own business interests.

...

Hunter Biden served on the board of the Truman Project's Center for National Policy alongside Blue Star Strategies principal Sally Painter, with whom he would work to end Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin's investigation into Burisma later the same year that he secured his father's speaking role for the organization.

...

During its existence, the Truman Project has been stocked with board members who are prominent Democratic national security figures, including Jake Sullivan, a Clinton State Department official and current Biden National Security Advisor; Matthew Spence, a senior aide to Obama's National Security Advisor; and Steve Israel, a former Democratic elected official, according to the Washington Free Beacon. Biden served on the board until at least 2019, according to the Beacon.

...

After Hunter Biden's email to the office, the vice president's scheduler Kathy Chung conferred with Joe Biden and the vice president agreed to speak at the conference. AFL noted public reporting indicated Hunter Biden had helped Kathy Chung to secure her job in the administration prior to this interaction.

...

Hunter Biden also appeared to use official foreign diplomacy of the Obama Administration to further the interests of the Truman Project and his own personal business interests at the same time, documents from the AFL FOIA production and evidence obtained from Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop indicate.

The year prior to the speaking invitation to Vice President Biden, in 2014, Scott Bates and Michael Been of the Truman Project Board asked Hunter Biden to pitch a donation proposal to the Japanese ambassador on behalf of the organization, according to an email obtained from Hunter Biden's laptop.

When the Vice President's son demands a foreign ally cough up some money, I've got to think that that foreign ally will do as asked.

Or that a murder has already taken place, shots were fired, somebody's waving a gun around and screaming that Shmitty is next, etc. Then the targeted person is terrorized by armed hotheads smashing in their door. The purpose is to at minimum harass and terrify the target, and ideally get them killed.

MTG and Tim Pool are repeat targets, yet the police departments haven't caught on that they keep getting these calls to the same address and they all turn out to be false.

The Soviet Union had elections. Everyone knew they were fake, but they kept them going anyway.

They do need the fiction of elections, but we had Joe Biden campaigning from his basement, insulting the black community, promising to grind down the middle class followed by months of mail in ballot fraud that wasn't enough that led to six states shutting down counting at the same time in the middle of the night leading to Tammany Hall levels of ballot box stuffing which barely got Biden an electoral college victory.

The country is falling apart. I was just reading the latest about that Boeing 737, brand new, where the side door blew out.

They've grounded them, and are doing inspections. They're finding loose bolts, and other parts just lying around.

This is not good. Apparently, the bolts that hold the plug door in place were loose, and just let the door slide up and blow out.

In 2022, Katie Hobbs all but turned off signature verification on mail in ballots. The infraction was so great that...10 months after the election, a federal court ruled that it was unlawful. Hobbs is still governor.

The left knows that it holds power illegitimately. Of course it's trying to jail Trump. Much like the GOPe, they think that getting rid of Trump gets rid of this vein of populism in American politics. Also, they hate him personally.

That doesn't mean that the America people will reject the cheating in 2024. We've now been conditioned to accept weeks of "counting" after election day. Why would Democrats theorize that America would react differently?

I hope they're wrong, but I don't think they are. I think the American people will simply continue the great migration in response.

Stupid people send stupid messages. In a nutshell, that is what is wrong with the entire leftist movement. What you do when you take out a political leader via foul means, you make them a) a martyr, and b) you get a whole lot of faceless types that are now convinced you and your accomplices are of the devil.

People are not a dial that can be moved back and forth to calibrate. Instead, most people assume pols are corrupt but simply want a) to be left alone, b) their government cheese. Deny them these things by sowing the wind, you get the whirlwind.
At that point, as consistently shown by American failures in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and now Ukraine, the regime either has to go to total war or loses its remaining legitimacy.

At the heart of every government is a potential crisis of legitimacy in those 'ruled'. Then a government either has to use massive coercion risking overthrow or be neutered by the populace ignoring its dictates.

It was mentioned in JJ's thread, but the same folks that pulled off the Arab Spring, the Rose Revolution, the Orange Revolution, etc. before succeeding with the one in the U.S. in 2020 have positioned the post-revolution U.S. population in a way that half the country will believe they were cheated and the election was stolen regardless of which side wins.

Yeah I figure if by some miracle, and Obama's sounding the alarm so its plausible, that Trump beat's the cheat, they're going to go full civil war to prevent him from taking office. They'll pull shenanigans to get control of Congress, they already had a big redistricting win in NY, and Ronna Romney is doing nothing but Spa days in response. Then, they'll wack Harris on a cash drop to Ukraine, and use that as a pretext for full on WW3, which they'll use to crush Putin and surrender to China. And Xi will preside over Nancy Pelosi ripping up the Constitution and declaring the US a province of greater China.

There was a whole weird political movement back shortly after the 1900's that argued functionalism (ala Veblen) demanded that technicians and mechanics rule the country instead of the useless and soft elites that never dirtied their hands. Heinlein used that as part of his background in "The Roads Must Roll" short story.

But the idea was that people were cogs in gigantic wheels that moved in a predictable fashion and so the best people to manage a mechanical and technological society were technicians. That was very appealing to engineering and scientific types and you can see somewhat of that idea in " the German silent film, "Metropolis"

IIRC the problem with the f-111 was due to a design or assembly change by a non-engineer, and an entire chain that had no ability to comment or even understand the way the wings were fastened onto the fuselage.
If Ford makes an assembly error the door falls off, or the back window leaks and it is not an issue. Aircraft is a bit different.

I suspect there was a change in procedure to save time or money, by someone who had no right to be in a position to make a change, and will never be blamed for the damage done.

These consultants will run whatever ends up being the most important senate race of 2024 because the RNC will force it upon the Republican candidate if they want big dollar donations.

305 IIRC the problem with the f-111 was due to a design or assembly change by a non-engineer, and an entire chain that had no ability to comment or even understand the way the wings were fastened onto the fuselage.
If Ford makes an assembly error the door falls off, or the back window leaks and it is not an issue. Aircraft is a bit different.

I suspect there was a change in procedure to save time or money, by someone who had no right to be in a position to make a change, and will never be blamed for the damage done.

There's at least famous building collapse blamed on a known design change, although in this case (at least in hindsight) you don't need to be an expert to recognize it:

313 Yup. Oddly, that notion tends to come from the technicians. Crazy, I know.

But the same premise - all people as interchangeable parts (or, at least, "all people within an identity group are interchangeable parts" if you happen to be a postmodernist) - is common across the spectrum now. Whether you're a technocrat, a communist, a Postmodern identitarian, whatever.

That whole train of thought is that the masses are asses and need an elite to rule them--ironically Claudine Gay's alleged scholarship along with the real scholarship by Carol Swain that Gay plagiarized among others, deals with the problem of representation. Swain's work dealt more with the tension of minorities in government office whether to be the mere descriptional/demographic representatives or actual policy representatives for their districts.

The descriptional/demographic type has long been called the Talented Tenth in such research circles and it argues that those individuals have a duty to the minority community (Black in the case of Gay and Swain) to press their community claims on the hostile 'other' elites.

327 True anarchy is an unstable situation and only tenable for a long time if great distances between groups exist. Prisons are the exact opposite and more or less self aid societies will naturally spring up bonded together by trust and ways to punish defectors to that trust.
Posted by: whig at January 09, 2024 01:14 PM (QD2wq)

anarchy resolves itself, though generally during the problems it resolves itself through violence since anarchy means "without a leader" or "without laws". Both of which are untenable for humans no matter what the society.

My hobby-horse, when anarchy is discussed as a political term it refers to "no controlling element of society at all" and comes from the English experience of the 12th century where there was no king. However, when you use it as a hyphenated description it is delineating the actual controlling level of society. Anarcho-Sydicalism, for example, places the controlling element of society on labor unions or combines of workers, and Anarcho-Capitalist puts the controlling element of society on the open market.

Posted by: Kindltot at January 09, 2024 01:29 PM (D7oie)

328 Humans don't deal well with anarchy or situations where they can't meet or deal with their problems as individuals and will self assemble groups to cope with problems. One of the goals of an autocracy is stomping out competing power centers, and the best way to do this is by preventing people from creating those centers on their own.

Ron was never going to be the country club GOPe choice but was recruited by them solely to take down Trump from the right. Perhaps he felt he could use them to win the primaries and then turn around and ignore them if he won.

Pretty sure that his former Cruz 2016 campaign managers led him and his wife down a garden path to rely on massive ad blitzes in primary states using with massive early whale donations that have apparently been squandered using that strategy.

It is almost always better to cultivate a small (in amount) donor network as those people are invested in the candidate and are much more likely to proselytize. Buying insiders like the Iowa evangelist or Conservative Media coverage like at the Daily Wire doesn't really work on conservatives like it would leftists.

I think that is because almost all of the GOP campaign managers are in fact cultural leftists that people are widgets to be manipulated as NPCs. The shared assumptions of the GOPe and Dems is that the masses are asses and elites are entitled to rule them.
