Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Bud Light Boycott Didn't Just Destroy Bud Light -- It Reduced the Entire Beer Industry's Sales by 5%The boycott of Bud Light has hurt the entire brewing industry. Alas. he beer industry has had a brutal year marked by boycotts against Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev, shifting consumer behavior and plummeting sales -- and it's only going to get worse. U.S. beer shipments dropped by more than 5% over the first nine months of 2023, according to data compiled by Beer Marketer's Insights. By the end of the year, shipments are expected to fall to their lowest level in 25 years, The Wall Street Journal reported. Part of that is due to a long-telegraphed shift of consumer tastes as consumers -- especially younger ones -- ditch alcohol over health concerns. Gallup, which has asked American adults about their alcohol consumption since 2001, found in an August survey that adults under 35 years old were the only group to actually lower their consumption. Gallup also found that although beer is the most popular type of alcohol beverage among Americans, that status is in decline as liquor gains ground. In addition, consumers have more options, often substituting canned cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages for beer. So, Bud Light did have a problem: People are drinking less beer. But not because they don't see enough trannies with their own bespoke Bud Light cans. Because people are avoiding carbohydrates where they can, and unless you love the taste and ritual associated with beer, then beer is the easiest bucket of carbs you can avoid. I haven't drank a beer in... well, okay I did have one Coors Light a few months ago as my act of defiance against Bud Light, but before that it's been years and years. It's now just a meme that "beer makes you fat." I'm going to buy my first bottle of rye or whiskey soon. It'll be Bullet, because I hear good things and I like the name. And hard liquor, for all its faults, is lower carb. This is another case of a company that's going broke -- well, seeing declining sales, while not actually going broke at all -- and going woke thinking that will fix things, and then actually going broke because the cohort they've decided to pander to is not only incredibly small but would never, ever buy their product. People avoiding beer for health reasons are not going to buy Bud Light because they approve of its woke embrace of evangelical transgenderism. These two things have nothing to do with eachother. Non c'entra, as the Italians say. Transgender propaganda doesn't enter into it. If they wanted to reclaim part of the customer base that is avoiding beer for health reasons, they could have just put more money into advertising Michelob Ultra, formerly my favorite low-carb, easily-available beer. Or they could have created some new bottled spirit that was made up of a little vodka, some carbonated water, and a sugar-free sweetener. Instead, they did what they all do, which is to say "Let's pander to a microscopic fraction of the population which will never in 1000 years buy our product!" This is yet another case of a company which has a declining but still profit-granting customer base -- like comic books were years ago -- and deciding that the right move is to alienate all of their current customers to chase a Phantom Customer Base that does not exist. Have trannies and Gen Zers rushed to make up for the huge declines in the sale of Bud Light due to millions of people dropping it like a bad habit? No, of course not. Of course not. Just like an army of diverse autistic lesbians and transgenders did not rush in to buy comic books just because Marvel and DC hired diverse autistic lesbians and transgenders to write what were formerly boy's action and adventure fantasies. If men are drinking less beer, try harder to appeal to men, the traditional beer drinkers. And traditionalist men, too, because traditionalist men will keep drinking beer despite faddish, flighty concerns about its carb content. But corporations hate men and hate traditionalist men especially. They just would rather go bankrupt than pander to Those People. So, like DC and Marvel comics, Bud Light is now on the glide-path to extinction. But they'll keep doing it. Until they all go broke. 6 I think White Claw is wot did the other beers in. People love that shit.ah yeah. So why not just make a White Claw competitor? Why attempt to get trendy leftwing young women to drink a bro-associated party beer by... hiring a transgender influencer? But they keep doing this because they only WANT to market to leftwing people. They think it's slumming to sell to right-leaning, traditionalist men. They would rather go broke than resign themselves to serving Those People. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)Posted by: runner at January 04, 2024 05:37 PM (V13WU) Posted by: Dr.Rev. It's possible that since the dunces at Bud have infected their entire company with DEI that this is a one-way ticket. They wanted kids to get molested by drag queens, so they're gonna have to atone and pay for that, literally. It's part of the bargain, they lose money but have more DEI. I did notice new Bud Light ads during FB games have rich white guys like Peyton Manning all over. That goes directly against the tenets of DEI. They instead need to have stupid white guys taking orders from black guys or women, and looking like idiots while the blacks are portrayed as what the DEIdiots think white people are. What a mess. A quarter of Americans believe FBI instigated Jan. 6, Post-UMD poll finds. Washington Post. Twenty-five percent of Americans say it is “probably” or “definitely” true that the FBI instigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, a false concept promoted by right-wing media and repeatedly denied by federal law enforcement, according to a new Washington Post-University of Maryland poll...a smaller 11 percent of the public overall thinks there is “solid evidence” that FBI operatives organized and encouraged the attack, while 13 percent say this is their “suspicion only.”
results confirm misinformation about Jan. 6 is widespread as the United States heads into an election year, during a campaign in which the former president and leading 2024 Republican candidate Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed support for those who participated in the insurrection. Despite a detailed congressional investigation and more than 725 completed federal prosecutions of Jan. 6 participants that did not yield evidence of FBI involvement, a substantial minority of Americans still embrace conspiracy theories not unlike the ones that drove many rioters to storm the Capital... A warning: never, ever buy or use Kamchatka Vodka.
Posted by: Auspex at January 04, 2024 06:34 PM (j4U/Z) Its not a coincidence the area is virtually unpopulated. Posted by: Oldcat at January 04, 2024 06:36 PM (eoQWY) 373
I went to retrieve my wife from her hair salon some time ago. It was the end of the day and her stylist noted that I needed a haircut so she said "give me five mins and I will give you the same haircut your barber gives you."
She did and did not even charge me. However, before she cut my hair she had her hair washer wash my hair. During the hair washing there's a five minute scalp massage. For three of those mins I was thinking of how I could maybe go home with the hair washing girl Posted by: N at January 04, 2024 06:36 PM (pNkJD) 374

>>>Some of that 75 is just lying to the pollsters. I love the instant propaganda, it shows that even the writer believes that everyone knows it is true and you need your cover story ready.

368,
Good picks with Laphroig and Turk. My faves are Laphroig cask strength, and then the Triple Wood. I didn’t know there was a “best” Blended Canadian. J.k. ![]() Posted by: Quint at January 04, 2024 06:41 PM (R5SGb) 377
#40 "I'll try whisky or rye." Um, not to be pedantic, but rye is a type of whisky. It uses rye as the fermented grain as opposed to, just for example, corn which, if at least 50%, makes bourbon.

Anheuser-Busch has seltzer and spirits-based seltzers. Bud Light seltzer, Mich Ultra seltzer, and of course their craft beer lines have seltzers. But the big one is Nutrl.
Nutrl is a vodka based seltzer A-B brand, and is absolutely crushing it in sales. It's probably their biggest success in years, and it's avoided the backlash against their other brands. Right now, boycotting Nutrl would do more damage to A-B than even continuing to boycott Bud Light. They're launching a tequila - based extension this year. It would be amazing to see that get caught up in the boycott and fail hard. After the initial investment cost, it would demolish their revenue for the year before spring was over. Fun mixed drink: one part Irish cream, one part coffee liquor, one part nut liqueur (personally prefer a pecan liqueur, but amaretto works too). Fill out the rest with a mix whole milk and heavy cream to taste.
Basically a butter pecan coffee mixed drink, cut down to a wine or beer potency with milk. Posted by: Voyager at January 04, 2024 08:51 PM (S3d13) 384
Bulleit is decent for the price. Their rye is ok. It's got a strong licorice flavor, so if you're into that you'll love it.
It was my go-to for a couple years until I stumbled onto Woodford Reserve rye. Highly satisfied with it - definitely recommend. Posted by: Stewed Hamm at January 04, 2024 11:12 PM (PF6Lx) 385
If your are serious about whiskey, then try to find a bottle of George Dickel White Label. Seriously good for the money, distilled right here in Tennessee and as American as you can get.
And much better, IMHO, than Bullet. Posted by: BrianinTn at January 05, 2024 11:05 AM (9YFSR) 386

Here's what I think is going on here: most people in marketing are incompetent idiots. Not necessarily malicious, but definitely incompetent. Most people in marketing are also women, and women are solipsistic.
Because they're incompetent, they don't know the basic rule of marketing - it's ten times easier to sell to people who are already customers - and they think the way to expand the market is into demographics that don't currently consume their product. Ignoring that there are good reasons why those demographics aren't already buying. Because they're incompetent, they don't know who their customer base is or why they choose their brand; as solipsistic women they assume Everyone Is Them and so they create campaigns that target...themselves. Even if their bosses are male, again - incompetent. A grifter tells them that the untapped female housewife market will totes buy their product if they put a drag queen on it and they jump on it.
