Baby Kaiju Cafe

canyonlandnationalpark.jpg
Needles District of Canyonland National Park, Utah
by @mbloom990

Big ol' walrus.

A giraffe named Betty White gives birth to... a six-foot tall baby.

An orphaned baby hippo raised by rhinos meets another hippo. Because he's been raised by rhinos, he doesn't know that hippos are supposed to live most of their lives in water. The new hippo teaches him.

A very cuddly baby elephant. This video is eight year old so that elephant is now the size of a cement truck.

A rescued squirrel comes back to visit his rescuer every day. It's about love, and peanuts, but mostly peanuts.

Every unmarried person who gets a dog does so with the half-expectation that the dog will introduce him to a future wife. Here's one case where a couple of dogs parent-trapped their owners.

Baby megabats.

Wheee!

This little baby elephant has beef with you and it's On Sight!

Baby elephant swingin' his trunk around.

And for any of you NERD WEEBS who are thinking "I was promised baby kaiju, but not one clip of Godzilla's son!," here you go, dorks. And another clip of "Minilla," Godzilla's son.

Who is not the same as Godzuki. I always thought it was the same thing. But I guess I've been duped again.

The 7th Fleet JOOD's Association doesn't approve things so much as crash into them.

When my 3rd ship was assigned to the 7th Fleet, I was a department head, and rarely drove. Alongside during Unreps, mostly. Had an ammo ship put Halon-1301 in the main spaces on my side. The bromine cloud was easy to see. " Uh. Captain, we need to break away starboard side."

Very different command style from the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th Fleet. But the 7th Fleet and 5th Fleet were quite similar, which makes sense.

One fine summer evening many years ago, my co workers and I amused ourselves by throwing bits of gravel and raisins in the flight path of bats that were catching bugs in the lights of a parking lot.

Yes. They varied.

My first ship used theme music from the movie Patton.

We would drop the last messenger line, put the music on, feel the acceleration to Flank-3, then, once clear of the bow of the oiler, turn sharply to clear them. I would hang on strongly to an overhead braided cable in the bridge, seeing either sky or deep swells in the bridge wing doors.

Not really. They are ignoring the reality of war for dramatic effect far too many times. In one clip its as if blackout restrictions do not exist as the various Nissan huts as the dawn breaks have lights glowing brightly through windows lacking blackout curtains.

On the German side, Fw 190s firing their WGr 21 from the 2 o'clock position. What is a WGr 21 you ask? A 21cm mortar round with a timed fuse. Luftwaffe doctrine was to overtake the bomber box from the rear and from a distance beyond .50 cal range fire these rockets which would travel about 4 seconds before exploding. The shrapnel from one rocket could damage several B-17s.

Then there is the matter of bare metal P-51Ds in red tail markings. The Tuskegee Airmen flew from Italy. The only time these British based B-17s might see such aircraft was on the Frantic Missions. There were only seven of these shuttle missions from Italy and England with landings in Soviet territory. Two of the 8th AF Frantic Missions, I know they took VIIIth Fighter Command escorts with them.

People around here joke about ham 'n eggers, mostly in reference to feds, but it's also true of contractors. Lots of decent, patriotic people work for these companies.

Unfortunately, the companies are all in on Woke, which is dangerous if you're a school principal, even more dangerous if you're a defense contractor.

255 Reading the few pages Perret devotes to Operation Frantic, there would have been NO fighter escort interaction between the 8th Air Force bombers and the Tuskegee Airmen assigned to the 15th Air Force in Italy.

On Sept 13 1944, the Soviets allowed one more Frantic mission. The 3rd Air Division of the 8th Air Force, a force of B-17s, was tasked to drop supplies to the Poles during the Warsaw Uprising. Nearly thirteen hundred containers were dropped, only 10% reached the Poles. The Germans took the rest.

275 The subtitles tend to be more accurate but if you know even a few words of Japanese you can spot those making the subtitle translation are iffy.

I am not sure where it was decided but one is absolutely aggravating because of how patronizing it is.

Oneechan for example literally means 'big sister.' But the translators will use the big sister's name. Every time. They can't use "Sis!" or "Sis?" at all. This also applies to the Japanese word for brother in translations.

279 Just finished watching "Is Paris Burning? (1966). Great war flick. Great music by Maurice Jarre. After the film I wandered over to Insty and was amazed at what Jack Smith is up to. Holy crap that guy has some serious mental issues.

280 He said footage of "the insurrection" had Nazi flags
Flying. And it infuriated him.

I think it was on Eric Bolling's show tonight that he said the feds have an additional 1000 people they plan to arrest/charge that were at the Capitol Jan 6.
and, that they plan to do so all the way up to the November elections.
They won't stop.

282 The subtitles tend to be more accurate but if you know even a few words of Japanese you can spot those making the subtitle translation are iffy.

Unfortunately, I don't have a clue about Japanese words. And my experience with this stuff doesn't get much beyond Naruto. It strikes me as a serious enough story, that the American show sometimes breaks up by being silly.

Only thing missing is the snappy uniforms.

Was that on his show that they had the story of the FBI working with a bunch of civilian keyboard warriors to run down insurrectionists?

Well they do have nice shirts, shorts, and shades...

There's a phenomenon I'm having trouble describing that these students are engaging in. It's like some magical, free-association, contamination neurosis. If a person can imagine some tangentially-related thing with a tinge of something that an overly-sensitive person might find unseemly, then the whole thing/person is contaminated and bad. The arguments that might leas to that conclusion are seldom explicitly stated because they are too ridiculous.

For instance, I expect the woke crowd to target our state flag because there are diagonal lines on it, and you know, the confederate flag also had diagonal lines. Ick!

287 I don't watch Naruto because a series that seems to run forever quickly loses my interest.

288 Bertram Cabot, Jr.

I had closed caption on and didn't catch the entire show. He had a segment about Ashley Babbit regarding a wrongful death lawsuit filed by I think her mother.

289 I think aos is great and like any large group not everyone will get along or like each other. But it's undeniable that cliques have formed . I don't have a problem with that natural occurrence either.

Just as in real life, some people have a special affinity for each other. It's funny that while I once had a file with contact info for maybe 5 dozen morons (lost in a hard drive crash, unfortunately), only certain connections persist.

The same goes for my meat world friends and acquaintances. Usually because I love to another state.

291 There were some here, who spoke of wanting to attend *that* protest. I wanted to go, but could not afford -or- leave hubby alone at that time.

I notice a name or few, missing since then or shortly thereafter. I pray for them!

I have a few e-mail contacts, one of whom was WDS. Lord I miss her.

We want to go to Texas again next fall. I hated missing it last time.
