When public photos of the balloon were circulated online, some taken with good telephoto cameras, only then was the junta forced to admit the Chinese spy balloon was real.
That they hoped nobody would notice tells you all you need to know what the junta thinks of the average citizen. And... the capabilities of the balloon were deliberately low-balled. It was as capable as any spy satellite. Perhaps more so as it was significantly unencumbered by the atmosphere like satellites are. Posted by: Martini Farmer at December 26, 2023 01:48 PM (Q4IgG) 34

They are both fundamentally leftwing, but I think in both cases they sort of woke up...but only sort of. Greene wrote a book on seduction and while I haven't read it as far as I can tell there is nothing particularly surprising in it. And...his book got banned in Europe. So for example they both talk about how PoundMeToo "went too far" but...they both still required to mouth the pieties about how it did something...good. Something. The characters are irrational imbeciles, the acting is atrocious, and i can't even remember the damn point of the movie, i just remember us thinking "that's the great vaunted heart warming lesson we're supposed to learn? That's a TERRIBLE lesson! You're all horrible, horrible people and you should all be ashamed of yourselves!"
Something like "everyone you know is a dirtbag but the only real reason you shouldn't kill yourself is so they can all have marginally better lives as the manipulative self centered dirtbags they are, not because you have any actual value as a person". I don't even remember. I just remember it as something horrendous like that we all saw in it, and not anything uplifting at all. Don't kill yourself, George, but definitely file for an annulment and get the hell out of that town... But i guess watching it was still a warm, happy, fond family memory for me, after all. I think PTSD is mostly a scam. Like ADHD and autism.
Posted by: Dr. Pork Chops & Bacons ADHD and autism are actually symptoms of chromosomal abnormalities, not diseases of themselves - doctors and activists are reluctant to admit it - and these vary depending on the crimp, deletion or addition to the genes resting on the arms of the chromosome - and depend on which chromosome this abnormality has happened - the higher the chromosome and the further out on the end from the distal, the lesser degree of symptoms. Parents are always reluctant to have a Fisch Array done - but you will discover the issue, and a prognosis can be developed. Many of these abnormalities happen spontaneously at conception - and many happen just due to the age of the parents - so, it's sad. I have unfortunate knowledge here that I wish I did not. --- And also deliberately shot down over deep, deep water. With a high explosives missile . To assure the Chinese nothing would remain and, even if so, no one could recover any part. Instead of shooting a hole in the balloon, over land, watching it sink, and doing a full autopsy on all the tech and the data gathered. There is a reoccurring theory that parts of Israeli intelligence knew about Hamas's preparations and allowed it to happen to weaken Bibi. There is a common human weakness in attributing incompetence and complacency to malice. That could explain this well. But...Bibi almost faced a literal coup over modest judicial reforms. Would those people have played with allowing an atrocity to get rid of a leader they hate? Well...that's not hard to believe either. Posted by: 18-1 at December 26, 2023 03:09 PM (XqcwY) 326

I go back and forth on it. And we will never know the truth. Though one fundamental point to consider, for most Americans, the government is the cause of most of their problems. Money? Bidenflation Job? Outsourcing/Immigration Crime? Illegal Immigration and on and on. This doesn't happen by accident. A government acting randomly would do a mix of objectively good and bad things. Those in B-17s and B-24s had the highest mortality rates of any in service, so his surviving the war was a near run thing.

It's not the Central Americans that are my concern. It's the North Africans, Arabs, and other global third world crapholes (i.e. Islamic crapholes), that have decided to stroll across the border with the South of the Border denizens. Those pro-Islamic Terror folks peacefully rioting across the west are letting us know.

I am not surprised to find out that the corrupt Biden administration was not going to notify anyone about the spy balloon.
I am shocked about how STUPID these people are - and they consider themselves the best and the brightest. Since they knew the balloon was barely visible from the ground, smart people would have fully prepared a response in the event it was discovered. They were caught completely flat-footed. It's low 50s, high 40s here in Babylon DC. A rainy day after Christmas. It was nice for Christmas Eve and Day. Same temps but sunny. Well, partly sunny. I don't miss snow. I don't hate it, just tolerate it. Rarely get any in this area. Which is good, two snowflakes appear, and the locals go nuts.

One of the more farcical decisions is the state of Maine puttin up all sorts of bureaucratic roadblocks in the way of developing one of the world's largest deposits of lithium. The major producers of lithium are Australia, Chile, and China. We can't be petroleum independent, and we can't be lithium independent. We just gotta be, for some damn reason, dependent on other countries.

Yes. My dad clearly was shell shocked from ww2. I personally saw many in hospitals during Vietnam war time & years thereafter. Compensation awards - 100% disability not rare - for diagnoses of schizophrenia.
Unfortunately, there were no individual awards for anything like 'PTSD.' Difficult to prove disabling, especially on a permanent basis, so it was said. Things have slowly changed but it's still a struggle for many veterans & their families. Posted by: L - Ya can't take it with you or pass it on. 67 I think the balloon was doing detailed magnetic mapping of our country and it's bases. This to allow precision guidance of missiles even after all the GPS satellites are busted.
Pre-friggin-xactly! And that is also no doubt one of the missions of the X-37A/B, which we can do from a higher altitude than a balloon! That is why this latest one is a high altitude. Earlier ones could dip into the ionosphere, scoop some real good data, then use those heat-shielded wings to pop back up to orbit, powered by the restartable rocket engine on board. Rinse, repeat until out of fuel, and then land at home! Posted by: Ray Van Dune at December 26, 2023 03:39 PM (8Ta2Y) 404
