You Won't Have Sheila Jackson Lee to Kick Around Any Longer (Except Just a Little Bit Longer)

Sheila Jackson Lee lost her bid to become Houston's mayor. Not by a little but by a lot. She lost 65% to 35%.

You may remember the leaked audio of her bullying her staff.

I don't know if that was such a big deal. Bosses are often cranky.

I think a bigger problem is that she is an enormous idiot and a leftwing Marxist wholly owned by the racial grievance industrial complex.

This was not some big win for conservatives. The race was a jungle primary, where all the parties run in the primary against each other, and two Democrats proceeded to the run-off.

So a Democrat won. I hear he's a disaster, too.

So this is not a victory for Houston, or for America.

But it is a loss for Sheila Jackson Lee. And that's something.

Actually, there is possibly a touch of slight good news: Supposedly, the man who won is a "tough on crime" Democrat.

Allegedly.

Democratic state Sen. John Whitmire defeated Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee in the Houston mayoral race in Saturday's runoff election after a campaign heavily focused on voter concerns over safety on the streets.

Whitmire, a perennial tough-on-crime voice who for decades heralded Texas regulations over public safety, was declared the winner by the Associated Press with 57 percent reporting. At that point, Whitmire was leading by an almost 2-to-1 margin.

With backing from the city's fire department and police unions and a multimillion-dollar campaign war chest, Whitmire was the early favorite in the race and finished first in the 18-candidate general election in November. When no candidate secured 50 percent of the vote, the race went to a runoff.

Whitmire leaned on a coalition of moderate Democrats, independents and conservative voters, with a prominent campaign promise to make the city safer with increased policing.

We'll see. NYC's Eric Adams, an ex-cop, sold himself as the tough-on-crime candidate too, and hoo boy, did that not pay out. (In fairness, the DA of Manhattan is a Soros DA. I denounce myself for the antisemitism of reporting known, verified facts which the ADL is paid to claim are antisemitic conspiracy theories by their patron George Soros.)

This makes me think he's not so tough-on-crime:

"What we have to do is hold violent offenders accountable, help the nonviolent offenders turn their lives around. I have a very clear record of being tough and smart on crime," Whitmire said.

We see the non-violent offenders picking stores clean of their goods in mass coordinated lootings. We let them go. That's being "smart on crime."

Whitmire attacked her even as she was recovering emotionally from her massive defeat, calling her a "bully."

"People want to go to work for me because we respect people. We don't bully people," Whitmire said during his victory speech Saturday, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle. "My family taught me to treat people the way you want to be treated, and that works wherever you are, regardless of what community you're visiting with. Treat these individuals like you want to be treated."

Whitmire, also a Democrat, appeared to be referring to Jackson Lee's controversial tirade last month, where she was caught on audio berating her staffers with profane language amid the heated race.

"When I called Jerome, he only sits up there like a fat [expletive], just talking about what the [expletive] he doesn't know. Both of y'all are [expletive]-ups... This is the worst [expletive] that I could've ever had put together. Two [expletive] big [expletive] children. [Expletive] idiots. Serve no [expletive] purpose," Jackson lee said in an angry voice in one part of the recording.

Jackson Lee was also at the center of ridicule for a gaffe earlier this month in which she encouraged her supporters to vote on the wrong day, urging voters to cast their ballots by Dec. 7, two days before the actual date of the runoff election.

Why isn't she being prosecuted by the feds? That guy Ricky Vaughn was sent to federal prison for like seven years for a joke telling Hillary Clinton voters they could "vote by text." That was plainly a joke, so the feds have plainly taken the position that intent doesn't matter. So it shouldn't matter here that Sheila Jackson Lee's false and misleading claim about when the election was was a mistake. It misled voters.

Send her to prison.

Oh, right -- intent only matters when it's a Democrat, like Hillary Clinton. In which case, James Comey will read an "intent" requirement into the law that has no such requirement of any "intent" on the part of the criminal.

Speaking of Hillary Clinton, she endorsed Sheila Jackson Lee last month, because fat old nasty-asses have to support each other.

So it's a loss for that old drunk (hic) sow too.

I don't know if it's advanced age or it's just that she's drunk as usual, but Hillary Clinton has some slurring and sloshing in her esses.

Tangentially, Mark Rober released his last (I thought the previous one was the last, but whatever) video of the Glitter Bomb.

He lives near San Francisco, and his target has become trying to gather evidence against the gangs that break car windows to get stuff. He's been doing this for literally years now, and it's just been getting worse.

This time, he ended with, "Why can't we just go to this spot everyone knows is for fencing stolen goods and shut it down?"

Well, I wish I could tell him because it's simple. You see, Rober, despite his penchant with engineering, is a massive leftist who has voted for every politician who has promised up and down to stop prosecuting crime because racism. They can't do it because the DA will just let the criminals go for redistributive justice.

33 John Whitmire is the guy who represents the police union in every way. He was there in the Texas senate when Mayor Lee.P.Brown gutted the city of Houston budget around 2002 or so by promising massive pensions. His partner in crime in the state legislature was Mario Gallegos who as a retired CoH fireman and represented the firemen's union.

Once Gallegos expired the knives came out for the firemen who wisely opted to fund their pensions in a trade for lower pay. The departing mayor Sly Turner took all that away and is running to get out of town.

It is! Mere property - and property that is usually insured - is properly and appropriately in a different class of offenses. And this is a disingenuous way of describing it. They aren't merely "let go." That doesn't happen anywhere. They are are simply not held in prison pending trial, as the cash bail system has come to (rightly) be seen as a contemporary form of slavery.

Releasing them until trial is not "letting them go." Putting non-violent offenders into rehabilitation programs instead of prisons is not "letting them go." It is, in fact and as described, "smart on crime." Those who offend against mere property are rehabilitated and the resources of the judicial system are not wasted on keeping non-violent offenders locked up for lack of cash.

Property crimes - if they are crimes - are driven by poverty, and the cash bail system exacerbates poverty and so as a result drives more property crime. "Smart on crime" policies are better in every way, if one can set aside ideology long enough to think logically.

Not in my experience. Whenever I've been to a bar that early, there were always two kinds of people:
1. Shift workers (I was one). Blue collar or white collar, the people getting off work between 06:00 and 07:00 sometimes want to go for a drink, just like folks working normal shifts do.
2. The professional drunks

But the professional drunks were rarely drunk at 7 in the morning. About half were hung over, but most were just rolling in to get the day started.

91 It appears that Putin has whacked Navalny - he hasn't been heard from in a week, and he is no longer listed as a prisoner at his prison.

Navalny's people did a clever thing - they paid for nonpolitical billboards to be put up in Russian cities wishing everyone a Happy New Year, with a QR code included on the billboard.

Initially, the QR code when scanned showed something innocuous, but then they changed it to say "Russia Without Putin".

Russia has now banned QR codes on billboard advertisements.

My litmus test of him, will be how many former Turner staffers are referred to the D.A. for prosecution(s) for their manifold abuses of offices. He will likely be more centrist than 95+% of big city Democrat politicians, but that's like being the tallest midget. And stop me when anybody thinks a top 20 (population) city has a snowball's chance of electing a Republican mayor in the next 5 years... That said, we live a few blocks from his daughter and his grandson and my oldest son are buddies in school together, sparing details but their family has values that most people here would respect. It seemed like they even tailored unsolicited text campaigns to the target audience, where my wife and I got photos of his (very white) greater family, while others got different photos... Anyway, he's an old guard Texas (not Pelosi or Schumer / blue state) Democrat not wanting to cross swords with the Marxist Left running the party now. His sister-in-law was mayor back in the 80's and also considered a centrist Dem even back then. So yeah, I wouldn't trust him, but it's a win compared to Sheila Jackson Lee, and got a decent chance of being better than his two predecessors.

Black voters were never in favor of reduced policing according to any poll ever. And yet, their votes kept supporting politicians who promised just that in urban districts where people barely vote.

The reduced policing thing is mostly a college educated leftist policy preference. But only in the poor neighborhoods. Those cops better come at the drop of a hat when the college educated leftist in their gated communities call.

166 Ace, you want Republicans, conservatives to do something.

Take a look at Scott Presler on X & his Early Vote Action app, now available in Pennsylvania.

'Early Vote Action PAC (“EVA” was created to achieve a strict purpose — organize & mobilize Republicans to vote early, so that by the time Election Day rolls around, the Republican victory is already baked in.

At EVA, we’re intent on marshaling the time, labor, and resources of conservatives around the country to achieve this goal in 2024, with a specific focus on the key swing states.

Whether you’re in Tulsa or Jersey City, Bar Harbor or Anchorage, at EVA we are ready to connect with you to organize teams of conservative Americans, build phone banks and letter writing centers, provide the requisite data to engage with the voters we need to get to the polls, and get them to the polls early.

We’re ready to win, and we’re intent on ensuring that our path to victory begins on the day ballots go out.

To reach this goal, we need you on our team, because when we organize and mobilize we win.'

Maybe, I just think states that we used to think were swing states just aren't swing states anymore.

Florida and Ohio in the aughts was where everyone thought decided elections. Now they are automatic red states.

Places like Colorado, Nevada, and Virginia used to be reliably red, now they usually tilt blue.

In 2012, Mitt Romney won AZ by almost 10 points.

++++

The worst picture I ever saw of her was when Cher held a party at her own house when Hillary was running in '16. Her hair looked dirty and was pulled back in a pony tail. She wore glasses and no makeup and was wearing what looked like the ugliest bath robe I'd ever seen with pot-holder pockets. She really looked like she'd been on a bender for a couple weeks and was staggering to the party. No doubt bath water had not touched her in a very long time.

My mother saw her at an airport once. She said, "Who's that woman with the greasy hair?"

366 319. The Democrat POTUS nominee, whoever it is, will promise still more free sh!t, especially more college tuition loan 'forgiveness.' Along with restoring the COVID-era child tax credits and bigger tax credits for EVs. 'Youth' vote buying on steroids.

Agree. IDK, perhaps conservatives counter keep on taking because they'll be keeping everyone & everything including their potential replacements & all new nation building. (In my area, only the well-to-do, well educated are knocking out the kids - one after the other - in addition to the replacements that consist of families.)

In other words, when our numbers are diminished, they're the new U.S. Deplorable.

367 news from Gaza - IDF reports that unit-level surrenders in Northern Gaza are increasing rapidly. Hamas fighters who have surrendered have stated that they have had no contact with Hamas leadership for some time now, and that they have had no food for days.

What is Israel doing with these people? I'm hoping they've built built some POW camps to deal with them. They should never be released. Life sentences for all of them.

So somewhere between the two, or both.

There is a third,...

Some people do this as a form of passive aggressive control over others. It is like marking their territory, or a dog rolling in shit.
They do it put others on the back foot as soon as they approach. Conversations are shorter, people tend to leave you alone.
(My experience is with bums and street people, but I came to realize that it is more than just difficulty in finding a place to bathe.)

It's a good question - for now, camps. Long term, Israel will have the same problem as the Allies had after Germany surrendered; what do you do with all the prisoners? I won't be surprised if they end up with the same solution: execution for the leaders, long imprisonment for the mid-level leaders, and a supervised release for the lower level foot soldiers, which will require a strict military occupation for probably 5 years at a minimum, combined with complete demilitarization of Gaza and an equivalent to denazification.

I should add, that was the solution of the western allies. The Soviet Solution was much simpler and more direct - Kill Them All. It'll be up to Israel to decide which precedent to follow.

373 Ace: "I denounce myself for the antisemitism of reporting known, verified facts which the ADL is paid to claim are antisemitic conspiracy theories by their patron George Soros.)"

By that standard, all criticism of Bibi and the IDF is forbidden. Or "Verboten" as the Nazi Collaborator Soros would say.

The Reason they want the Globo-Homo Soros off limits is because he is FUNDING A CRIME WAVE WITH HIS PRO-CRIME D.A.s AND FUNDING MASSIVE ELECTION FRAUD WITH HIS PRO-CHEAT SEC/STATEs.

THEY'RE TRYING TO MAKE ELON THE POSTER BOY FOR SPEAKING OUT AGAINST THAT MONSTER.
