As I wrote back in July, she's a Los Angeles real-estate investor and philanthropist, who is influential in California Democratic circles and has donated money to Joe Biden. She also got a plumb position from Biden.As I noted then:
Naftali was appointed to the Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad in July 2022, eight months after Hunter's first art opening. It's not clear when the purchase was made -- whether it was before or after the appointment.I wrote how the House Oversight Committee was seeking information from Naftali. The Committee has dropped a subpoena on her. So we will have to see what if anything she has to say to the Committee about the matter.
In the past, Hunter Biden has privately suggested that he could arrange to have friends seated on the commission. Eric Schwerin, Hunter Biden's longtime business associate, was appointed to the same post by President Barack Obama in 2015.
The general idea that Hamas -- a proxy army of Iran -- decided to attack Israel to blow up a rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Israel is sound enough. But of course all the diplomatic track for this train was laid by Donald Trump and, hard to believe but it's true, the idiot Jared Kushner. And this is much more about the Saudis' decision to end the cold war with Israel than about Biden; Biden has gone out of his way to alienate the Saudis. Biden has done nothing to help the Saudi-Israel rapprochement and has done a lot to ruin it. As always, Biden lies to make himself -- a low-IQ hanger-on whose only skills are soliciting foreign bribes and money laundering -- seem like he's actually accomplished something in his worthless gladhanding, featherbedding life.

He did the sensible thing: help the various countries cut bilateral deals where possible and leave the rest alone until they want to come to the table.

It's muddier. The political class has influence (at least to a point), but the Party is in charge. The fusion of Party and State is more or less complete and we are now essentially no different from any other country under single-party rule. There are competing power centers from *within* the structure, but not from outside. Within the power structure are various industrial interests, Party factions and political figures. The big Party factions are approximately the Obama Orbit and the Clinton Orbit, but there are others and the loyalties change. The Kalorama wrecking crew is nominally in charge at the moment, but it's a difficult balance.

Tarkenton was a good signal caller and could carry a team on his shoulders for periods, but he came up short repeatedly. I think the most sane way to reason through where Tarkenton belongs in "greatest QB ever" is to remind yourself he and Jim Kelly had near identitcal career success.

One thing that irritates me greatly is the fact that the media treats Hunter like he is just a wayward juvenile. I think he's getting up there in age, like he probably is getting inundated with AARP material by now.

I saw a bit of a video the other day where some Aussie guy went to Moscow to try their version of McDonalds - since McDonalds left when the war started. He said that absolutely everything about it was better. There was more lettuce/tomato and they were fresher. The burger tasted better. And it seemed like more effort had been put into the food.

I think there are more than two types, that we essentially match a broad variety of types that can form a coherent hierarchical society with different specialties. There's some ability for nearby types to substitute for each other, but we're not nearly as interchangeable as assumed by Locke, or within IQ categories as is still assumed in modern times.
