A CHP officer tried to convince the man to get off the freeway but he refused & that led to a struggle, authorities said.
“During the struggle, the pedestrian was able to access a Taser he had in his possession, activated the weapon, & used the Taser against the officer,” the CHP said. “Following the pedestrian’s use of the weapon against the officer, & in fear for his safety, the officer fired his service weapon.”
A video recorded by a bystander and posted on social media begins with an officer on top of another person as the two grapple. As they struggle, a shot is fired and the officer suddenly jumps to his feet. The officer immediately fires at the prone man, the video shows. For the remainder of the clip, the officer keeps his gun drawn while the man lies motionless.
“The video of this shooting is deeply disturbing,” said Senator Steven Bradford. “This appears to be an unnecessary use of deadly force. The community deserves answers. If the roles were reversed, people would be immediately calling for murder charges.”
“There has to be a credible threat. My calculus is…an officer who is on his feet and can reposition, [there is] no credible threat.”

For that I got a scathing community note saying it wasn’t true. The Navy is very proud of the fact that it’s P-8 fleet features the most diverse crews in military aviation. 1st Lt. Hailey Harms, a Marine spokesperson confirmed the crew was both diverse and alive. Because the MSM isn’t reporting the identity of the crew the community notes community decided my comment was wrong. Annoying and false. Before you apply a community note make sure you know what you’re talking about - your inability to confirm a statement isn’t proof it isn’t accurate.

If the suspect gets the officer's tazer, the suspect can disable the officer and disarm him. Once disarmed, the officer is at the perp's mercy. Activists will pretend not to understand this when you argue that a tazer used against an officer is a lethal threat because of this possibility.
They will then counterargue that you're saying officers using tazers on perps is a lethal threat and perps should be free to kill an officer trying to taze them.

Curiously, one of my close shipmates son serves there with the Unit that plane is attached to. He was NOT on that plane.

With a broken fathometer (the primary instrument), that's bad juju. Engineers likely saw the pressure numbers on intake water manifold for the nuke's heat-exchanger, and deduced the clue.
So, the nut on the string can and does indicate "trim". But does nothing to indicate depth.

HERBL’s failure was partially caused by poor business decisions, particularly its continued reliance on the traditional distribution model despite the clear pattern of California retailers being unable to pay their bills. But, he said, the collapse also exposes systemic issues in California’s pot industry that will doom other businesses. He pointed to overtaxation, competition from unlicensed pot businesses that undercut legal operators and “very excessive and overly burdensome regulations.

By the time the footage hit X, a whirlwind of rumors began claiming that the ship was on fire, however, what we are most likely seeing a smokescreen exercise.
We have previously seen black obscurant be used by Type 071 landing ships and other PLAN vessels before, with crews placing smoke canisters on various parts of the vessels. The is opposed to the white obscurant used by naval vessels at sea that we are typically used to seeing.

A lot (well, most ) modern warships have a lot of aluminum in their superstructures to save weight. Modern warships are generally built "tall" as their radar and radio masts are up there (of course, Aegis ships have phased-array radar in the boathouse walls).
Aluminum burns at a lot lower temperature than steel, even mild steel (aka, carbon steel).
The British learned this to their dismay in the Falklands war, when Argentine Exocet missile hits burned up a couple of their ships.
A Perry - class US Frigate was hit in the late 1980's by two Exocet missiles from an Iraqi plane, but vigorous damage control prevented the loss of the ship.
John Lehman (then Navy Secretary, I think) was furious because there were a lot of burn injuries and deaths, and he had mandated a switch from nylon or rayon fabric uniforms (which burn easy) to cotton uniforms, yet a lot of the fatalities from that incident were burned crewman with the nylon or rayon unis on.

4th Circuit court finds that MD Handgun Qualification requirment is unconstitutional.
My take is that if this is upheld, I don;t need the state's permission to buy a handgun anymore.

I'd assume you'd still need to ship to an FFL and do a transfer. I'd forgotten about the HQL part, since I just got mine when I was jumping through the hoops for a concealed carry permit here - the training for that counted for the HQL. And assuming you have an HQL, once you make the purchase, you still have a 7 day waiting period before you can pick up a pistol or other restricted items (7 day wait to pick up my AR-15 lower for example). This HQL ruling is news to me.
