@realDailyWire On January 6, 2021, the FBI explicitly chose to abandon a sting on a child pornographer in Virginia who was messaging with an undercover agent about having sex with a nine-year-old boy, opting instead to focus on prosecuting Donald Trump's supporters who stormed the U.S. Capitol.
Less than three years later, the FBI discovered the same man living in Alaska where he appears to have been performing sex acts on a 10-year-old boy, according to court documents. On December 2, 2020, an internet user with the screen name "gayboy69freak" messaged an undercover agent with the FBI's Washington Field Office, who was posing as a father pimping out his 9-year-old son, and told him that he wanted to travel to D.C. to have sex with the boy.
The man also sent the agent a video of "a prepubescent minor male being anally penetrated by an adult male's erect penis." His IP address led the FBI to Brogan Welsh of Glenn Allen, Virginia. What appears to be a slam-dunk case against a child predator was abruptly abandoned just one month later. "On January 6, 2021, FBI, Washington Field Office, [decided] this investigation was halted due to events that occurred at the United States Capitol Building that day," court documents say. The man was only arrested, and the court documents only filed, because Welsh moved to Alaska and crossed the Anchorage FBI's radar in an unrelated perversion investigation. On October 24, 2023, after coming across troubling chats from Welsh on a phone they seized from a different alleged pervert, Alaska FBI agents went into his house and "located items including sex toys that are very small in size and apparently consistent with the body size of an approximate 10-year-old boy," as well as children's underwear. "The investigation has revealed that a 10-year-old boy was, in fact, residing at the residence belonging to Welsh," the agents wrote.Full story by Luke Rosiak at the Daily Wire. FBI whistleblower Steve Friend talked about being pulled off of sensitive child-exploitation cases to join Christopher Wray's "Insurrectionist" dragnet squad. The Washington Field Office wouldn't say how many other ordinary criminal investigations were put on hold because of January 6, but it did acknowledge that resources were diverted. "In the immediate aftermath of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, WFO resources were surged to support the FBI's response and investigation," the office told The Daily Wire in a statement. Federal prosecutors have charged more than 1,000 defendants in what they call the "Capitol Breach," and more than 65,000 legal documents have been filed in the cases, according to a Daily Wire database. Investigators and prosecutors have limited time, so it turns out that all that work likely comes at the expense of the cases they'd normally be handling.

Abolish it. The upsides of maintaining the FBI are grossly outweighed by the downsides of doing so. Abolish it and split up its duties to other agencies - preferably non-federal agencies. Most of what the FBI does doesn't need to be federalized. For the stuff that does need to be done at the federal level, new agencies - entirely new agencies, from the ground up - are needed.

Abolish it. The upsides of maintaining the FBI are grossly outweighed by the downsides of doing so. Abolish it and split up its duties to other agencies - preferably non-federal agencies. Most of what the FBI does doesn't need to be federalized. For the stuff that does need to be done at the federal level, new agencies - entirely new agencies, from the ground up - are needed.
That comes second. You cannot rebuild before you demolish. In the gap there will be misses. There are also misses now, misses for far worse reasons than "there was no coverage for this category of crime."

Serious question- there are sick criminal perverts that are caught because of the FBI. If you abolish it, these never get caught. So, what can Republicans do?
Last time I checked, these crimes were all state crimes. We have 50 state bureaus of investigation to address these crimes. I'd rather have that than the current FBI, which is just a corrupt political enforcement goon squad.

Now ther subject becomes toxic, so when anyone brings up legitimate concerns they're labled off the wall conspiracy theorist.

Hypothetically, I still think the FBI is salvageable. Unfortuately, the process necessary to do so is out of reach. I would require an Attorney General of integrity who just goes in and changes a few things. For example, a stricter more detailed set of policy rules....the most important of which is "If you violate any one of these rules you are automatically terminated without recourse." Problems with this approach is that 1. We'll never see another President in office to nominate such and AG. 2. We'll never have a senate willing to approve said nomination 3. Such a once in done policy in the FBI would never pass the FBIAA...so that hurdle would require the elimination of the FBIAA.

The reason for establishing the FBI was to investigate bank robbing crimes and have the ability to arrest these bank robbers in a state were they didn't commit the crime - these criminal situations were rampant in the 20's - you could rob a bank in Kansas and escape to Missouri where you had law enforcement relatives to protect you and your gang.

Some internet rando showed up at Comet Pizza with a gun demanding they release the children he thought they had locked in the basement.
And everyone who said "uh, okay, but lets back up -- what the fuck was podesta talking about in those emails?" was labelled a crazy conspiracy theorist who made up silly rumors about democrats being child molesters.
It predated QAnon by a bit, but similar situation.

I'm surprised at the prevailing sentiment here, which is apparently that the GOP House caucus should leave Santos in Congress, because 1) he votes right; & 2) he's not any worse than anybody else... (although he's a lot worse).
That would certainly put the GOP's effort to expel Tlaib (for something she SAID) in perspective, wouldn't it?
In any event, Santos' expulsion is a done deal-- the Ethics Committee's recommendation to expel him was unanimous.

Recently on the rumble.com channel, people for medical freedom and raising concerns about the covid shots have been plagued with a bunch of people in the comments sections agreeing with them and also saying the Earth is flat.
So we have a whole sudden swarm of flat earthers infesting these threads which were actually quite scientific and firmly based in reality. Definitely a case of blackwashing.
