Claim: Israel Has Hamas On the Run

I have trouble believing anything that sounds like good news, so I'm discounting this.

But Richard Fernandez is very positive about their performance against Hamas' terrorists and their terror-leaders.

PJ Media's own Richard Fernandez -- or as I like to call him, The Smartest Man in the World (TM) -- tweeted Monday that current reports from Gaza "appear to confirm my earlier estimate that Hamas is collapsing and increasingly focused on individual survival. IDF infantry probably shifting to pursuit and raiding in deeper forays."
"The Hamas organization has lost control in Gaza: Terrorists are fleeing south, civilians are looting Hamas bases. They have no confidence in the government," Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Monday. Hamas' days are numbered, twilight is upon them, and every Hamas knows it.
The German word for it is Gotterdammerung, "the twilight of the gods."

This may be why the media is stepping up its propaganda war in favor of its terrorist ally Hamas. AP demands to know why Israel is targeting a Hamas-controlled hospital, even though everyone knows the answer: Because Hamas has built its terror command headquarters underneath the hospital.

Much of the current attention in the ongoing Israeli war against Hamas in Gaza is focused on Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The ground fighting around the hospital has been intense, with many casualties. But the focus of the international news media, such as in this article from the Associated Press, has been on the hospital itself and the disruptions being caused by the military action. The AP asks, "Hospitals have special protection under the rules of war. Why are they in the crosshairs in Gaza?" Of course, the premise of the question is false, but it allows the press to once again paint the IDF as the bad guys who are driving up "civilian casualties" at unacceptable rates.

The head of surgery at Gaza's largest and most advanced hospital held up his phone Saturday to the hammering of gunfire and artillery shelling. "Listen," said Dr. Marwan Abu Sada as fighting raged around Shifa Hospital.
Shells hissed through the hospital courtyard and crashed into wards while Israeli soldiers and Hamas militants locked in close quarters combat. Doctors tried to help patients even as they ran for cover.
Abu Sada described Shifa as a deathtrap for thousands of war-wounded, medical staff and displaced civilians sheltering there. The Israeli military denied it launched direct strikes or placed Shifa under siege.

On the odd but unlikely chance that the AP or anyone else in the liberal media is really interested in an answer to their question, I would like to offer an explanation....
The IDF is fighting around (and sometimes in) Shifa Hospital because that's where Hamas is. They put their fighters in and around hospitals and it's already been confirmed that there are Hamas tunnels under this hospital. They base their operations there in the hope that Israel will avoid striking them. If the plan works, their fighters live and they can keep funneling supplies through the tunnels. If Israel attacks, civilians inevitably are injured or killed and Hamas is rewarded with headlines blaming Israel. And that's precisely what we're seeing now.
The AP raised what it describes as an "urgent" question. When do medical facilities lose special protection under international humanitarian law? They point out that Israel has provided maps showing that Hamas has a significantly large headquarters set up under Shifa Hospital, but they also keep saying Israel has "provided no evidence" of that. I'm pretty sure the IDF's maps are quite accurate at this point and they know where most of the tunnels are. They also fail to address the fundamental question staring them in the face. If Hamas isn't operating around the hospital, who are all of the people shooting back at the IDF?

You know who says that Hamas has a terror base under this hospital?

The man who the media voted for 100% says it.

Tel Aviv -- The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry has released harrowing new footage of what it says are conditions inside Al-Shifa hospital. Israeli forces are continuing to pummel northern Gaza in what the IDF says is an effort to wipe out the Islamist militant group once and for all.
In a seven-minute graphic video posted on the ministry's Facebook page, an unnamed doctor is seen describing his surroundings as wounded and injured people are strewn across the hospital floor.
"The department is completely full of wounded and injured," the unnamed doctor says in the video.
"They are on the ground taking their last breaths due to the collapse of the health system, due to the lack of medicines due to the occupation besieging the hospitals," the man says as the camera focuses on seemingly lifeless bodies lying on the floor.
Young children are also seen bandaged and on hospital gurneys. The narrator claims that a large number of the injured "are children."
"Serious cases are present here without treatment at all. There are no treatments. This is what the condition of people looks like. They are crying for their children. They are crying for their children without any treatment," the man says.

Hey, media, maybe we shouldn't continue repeating Hamas's idiotic propaganda claims, especially those involving hospitals, huh?

I think it's likely that Hamas was desperate to get the "Israel bombed this hospital and killed 9 billion people, mostly women and children" propaganda story out precisely because they knew that Israel would soon be attacking another "hospital" -- the one their terror-base is hidden underneath.

Placing a military compound beside or underneath a civilian area is a war crime. It's a war crime precisely because it leads to this situation: The opposing forces are required to invade a civilian space to find their enemies.

Instead of scolding Hamas to Get the fuck out of the hospital, you war-criminal terrorists, the leftwing media scolds Israel.

Meanwhile, Hamas keeps bombing the same Israeli hospital near the border, for no legitimate purpose other than to continue their illegal war crimes, and the media says nothing. NOTHING.

128 MOUT and CQB have substantial inherent risks. They take a lot of time and patience. But the Israeli strategy, which I suspect was developed with some US Marines and SF who have a lot of experience is going well. They've cut the south from the north and given them no escape route. There is no resupply coming and they have a limited amount of material. You can tell by what Hamas is leaving behind they're largely in the run. Al Shifa is going to be a tough op, especially the tunnel clearing, but that will help end their command and control in the north. After that it's more MOUT and mopping up in Gaza City. Don't forget that ultimately there is a commend element outside Gaza that needs to be dealt with and a lot of squirrels who fled south. It's going to be some time before this is complete.

Well one of the rules and usages of war is that if you are besieged in a defended town and are called to surrender and you refuse, the lives of all of you and the people there were forfeit. It is too hard to control troops after forcing them to attack a defended position.

you should read what the Jews were like in and around the time of Christ.

Arab tribes in the region were raiders and traders and thus would try and get some loot from the empires around. Romans and Persians would take and sack a city every so often.

So I guess she has no Big Tech backing, so she has that going for her at least.

This would put an end to a lot of major tech firms. This would also clear the road for stuff she surely doesn't like - like enforcement of over-18 laws for the consumption of online pornography - by making the backend systems consistent and universal.

This is a bad idea for a number of a reasons but some of the consequences - consequences that in fact I wouldn't mind seeing - will be decidedly bad for her and her crew. She didn't think it through in the slightest. She sees a censorship option, not an industrial depression - but she'll get the latter for sure. They're trying to square the circle, probably for two reasons. First, American Jews are not electorally important as votes, but they are critically important in terms of money. The Dems don't want that money to dry up. They're probably looking on in abject horror at some of the financial pull-outs from major universities.

Second, Hamas are barbarians and unpopular, and Americans generally - though less so than in the past - like or don't mind Jews and this increases with age (older people are more supportive of Israel and Jews than younger people) - in other words, the people who do not like seeing open support for Hamas in the US are by and large the same people who have the things that come with age like money and influence.

Not sure who you are speaking of. There was at the time of the Jewish revolt a dominant, more Jewish faction effectively ruling Christians. Paul was called to account to them. The revolt, and the storming of the city effectively reduced this faction to a much weaker, if not totally absent part.

As for the Jews of the time and later I can understand not wanting to adopt these new views and remain in the religion of their fathers, and at that time Jews in the Levant were extremely militant and aggressive.

What if the bandaged children shown inside Hamas medical facilities included hostages?
Rather than move young children & maybe some others through tunnels, wouldn't it be more practical to camoflage them/blend them in, particularly if injured or ill? And the majority of journalists would be no wiser, even if right under their noses.

Btw, the Red Cross and Congress have a 'unique relationship.' And Magen David Adom is Israel's National Rescue Organization and also the Israeli National Association in the international movement of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, under the MDA Law (1950).

Congress & the UN must demand & get the return of all of those innocents or turn up the heat on their 'regional partners' & Hamas.

Very interesting. It does not appear that Hamas booby-trapped the location or tried to destroy any of their equipment. The IDF may be moving much more quickly than they are able to respond, which is a good thing.
