Gavin Newsom Clears Out the Homeless from San Francisco -- Only For a Visit from His Benefactor, President Xi of China

They cleared the homeless out of San Francisco for two days, to beautify it for their Chinese communist patrons.

Once the Chinese leave, the homeless will be back shitting on the street within a half hour.

Because to hell with American citizens.

San Francisco has undertaken a significant effort to glam up streets ahead of a vital U.S.-China summit next week, including the removal of homeless camps around the city.

Newsom admits he's only doing this for foreign patrons.

"I know folks are saying, 'Oh they're just cleaning up this place because all those fancy leaders are coming to town.' That's true, because it's true -- but it's also true for months and months and months before APEC [Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit], we've been having conversations," California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday at the unveiling of a new program to plant trees in urban neighborhoods.

You talked about moving the homeless out for months, in anticipation of a visit from your Chinese paymasters. You only did it when they came.

And you will let the homeless back in as soon as Xi is on his way back to China.

KTVU noted that the efforts to clean the city have created "noticeable" cleanliness to the streets but also far fewer homeless encampments on major thoroughfares.

Peskin pointed to the influx of people and personnel during previous conferences at times of trouble for the city that helped kickstart economic activity, but to make that impression, the city has undertaken an incredible beautification project, which has included shifting the significant homeless population that has flooded into the city.
"They've cleared out the tents that were near the Moscone Center on Howard Street, which tells me the city had the capability to do this all along -- instead they just do the bare minimum, community activist Ricci Lee Wynne told The New York Post.
"Once APEC is gone, police presence will start to simmer down again, the tents will return, and it will slowly flare up again," Lee said. "What we need is a permanent solution."

Well, the main drag is in the Castro which is a couple miles away. But there's also drag in the Tenderloin/Tendernob, Polk Gulch, etc. Again, those aren't really near the main action, though there's a smaller APEC area in Nob Hill, so yeah, near the secondary drag.

They do this at a small scale semi-routinely, or at least did. When major conventions went to Moscone, they'd clear the area right aound the convention center and between Moscone and a couple of the very close nearby hotels and then spray down the sidewalks. Pay a couple of the more sane bums to sweep up during the event. The vagrants are right back as soon as the convention packs up.

My company used to hold a conference there. After the "pandemic response," they went back. After the first conference following the resumption, our customers essentially told us, "put this conference in Las Vegas or Orlando and we'll come back. If this event is still in San Francisco next year, we won't be returning. This place is unacceptable."

We're not the only ones. San Francisco recently poured about half a billion dollars into Moscone to renovate, update and upgrade the venue and it got done just as the world ended. A massive and expensive refurbishment at the same time that the city went to pot and now nobody wants to go there.

My only visit to SF was in 2015 for a conference. Normally when I went to a new-to-me city for ALA I'd take an extra day or two and explore, sometimes just strolling around the city by myself. I had no desire to do that in SF. On my one free afternoon I took the bus out to Lands End and hiked. That was awesome.

This causes overdoses , either because the pill was laced with too much fentanyl or the person takes two or more drugs and with both containing fentanyl.

Here in Colorado they warn that at least 60% of illegal drugs contain fentanyl. There are teens/people in their 20’s who are offered an adder Al or other prescription type drug by a friend, not knowing it’s from a dealer, and die. Yes, it’s stupid to do that, but the fentanyl deaths are climbing every year - this is greater than the typical drug addiction problems we’ve seen in the past.

Prolly put them in a safe place until they can bus them back to San Fran. Homelessness is a huge business in California. Money is being thrown around/at the homeless like you cannot believe. Nobody knows where it is coming from, but someone is profiting, big time, on keeping homeless camps stocked full of humans. These camps are springing up in nice cities, too, in California. They have well-paid security guards, and refrigerators stocked with provisions for the 'guests'.

But the big issue in 2020 was about 200,000 'extra' ballots. It took that much to push Joe over the top. Ballots with an interesting story, delivered to a location where no one wanted to sign for them, so the driver left them sitting on the dock.

I dunno about that. (Having said that, I agree with the sentiment.) A lot of the distaff side were wild about her, and since she got hosed by the Orange Man Bad (whom many of the distaff side hate), there would a revenge aspect to her running.

Plus, let's face it, ALL of the Dem potential candidates are toxic to varying degrees. Biden - corrupt and senile. Deep Throat Harris - radioactive and stupid. Newsom - the Breck Girl has f*ed up California, and I am told a lot of the country views California as equivalent to genital herpes.

It's going to end up being at least $300 million. Disney is definitely in spin mode, though. This is a disaster.

The marketing push on this movie has been outlandish. $100 million wouldn't be hard to believe at all. The total bill for this turkey is probably going to be between $350 and $400 million. And Disney is likely to haul in maybe $150 million if performance exceeds reasonable expectations (e.g., the movie pulls down $300 million at the box office).
