Feds Seize NYC Mayor's Phones, Suspect That Adams Fast-Tracked a Turkish Diplomatic Mission In Exchange for Cash

The FBI is Seizing on texts that indicate that Adams did favors for foreign cash.

There's less to this story than the headline, to be honest. The texts don't establish much. There's a suspicion that Turks contributed to Eric Adams illegally but we don't know for certain he did favors in exchange for that money.

Federal investigators probing Mayor Adams' 2021 campaign are now zeroing in on a series of texts suggesting he helped fast-track the opening of the Turkish government's new diplomatic headquarters in Manhattan, sources close to the case told The Post.

The September 2021 texts between Adams -- who was then the Brooklyn borough president and Democratic mayoral nominee -- and Turkish Consul General Reyhan Özgür and then-FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro were uncovered by FBI agents Monday after they seized Adams' electronic devices.

The texts were described by sources to The Post.

Since Monday, the feds' questions about the content on the devices -- which included three cellphones and two iPads -- have centered on these texts, sources said.

However, the messages don't appear to show any criminal activity beyond typical outreach that elected officials do on behalf of constituents, according to several sources briefed on the matter.

In a Sept. 5, 2021, text, Özgür informed Adams that construction was recently completed on the new Turkevi Center diplomatic headquarters, located on 46th Street and First Avenue across the street from the United Nations building, sources said.

However, Özgür noted that while the new HQ received needed approvals from the city Buildings Department to operate, it still had to secure a "temporary certificate of occupancy" from the Fire Department. He then asked Adams if he knew Nigro and could help.

Adams, according to sources, reached out to Nigro and asked him to look into the matter, but didn't order him to do anything.

The Turkevi Center -- the new home of the Consulate General of Turkey in New York City -- is now a focus of a federal investigation into Mayor Eric Adam's fundraising in 2021 based on new texts that have surfaced, sources said. Facebook Turkish Consulate General in New York

...

Federal authorities are investigating whether the Turkish government or Turkish citizens illegally funneled donations to Adams' campaign by using "straw donors," a scheme where contributors listed in official records aren't the actual source of funding and whether Adams did quid-pro-quo favors.

The investigators were specifically looking for proof that the campaign kicked back benefits to leaders and staffers at Brooklyn-based KSK Construction Group and Turkish officials.

Maybe this is just Merrick Garland's weaponized DOJ warning another political rival -- Adams has been loud about Biden's border crisis -- to get in line.

Say, FBI, you've had an entire computer in your possession since 2019 containing messages that indicate that the current US president took foreign cash for favors. Maybe look into that slightly more than not at all?

He probably did. This is the normal way of American politics. 100% of major politicians are deeply corrupt and most of them don't shy away from foreigners or their cash.

A Marine and other military veterans at the FBI have been accused of disloyalty to the U.S. because they fit the profile of a supporter of former President Donald Trump, according to two disclosures sent to lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee... The Washington Times obtained copies of the disclosures...

Other signs that an employee was a “right-wing radical and disloyal to the United States,” according to Ms. Perkins and Mr. Veltri, were failure to wear a face mask, refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccination and participating in religious activities."

What Adams did - let's assume he's guilty - is just business as usual. Nothing weird or unexpected or abnormal about it in the slightest, and it's not something that's ever punished except for if the Party wants to put some pressure on you for some reason.

Yup. I was hoping for sub-$40 million, but I don't always get what I want.

But the expenditure is closer to $300 million, plus the incredibly huge marketing campaign. Probably getting uncomfortably close to $400 million all-in. This turkey is going to cost Disney probably at *least* $200 million. Brutal losses.

Braenyard, there was a conversation at the end of a link recently about Biden flying Palestinians in using the new pretend "border wall" phone app (seriously, they really call it a tech wall):

It already happens per the MSM
https://tinyurl.com/ysfass8c

And here's part of the magic:

"Among those the government chose to parole in on CBP One app appointments were a smattering of “special Interest aliens” from Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Yemen, Indonesia, and even 154 Afghans.

Others the government approved to come in surprisingly high numbers despite their being from special interest nations were 3,852 Kyrgyzstanis, 1,843 Uzbekistanis, 780 Tajikistanis, and 339 Kazakhstanis, and 29 from Turkmenistan, not to mention many more from terror-plagued Africa countries such as Egypt, Senegal, and Mauritania."

https://tinyurl.com/ypqnm8fa

As I understand it the clever part comes because the UN is responsible for shipping people from Palestine, and there's not a U.S. code for them in receiving. So they're counted as Israelis.

Yet Americans are still angry that prices rose as much as they did, showing up in consumer sentiment that has fallen for three straight months. Just 30 percent of voters approve of President Biden’s handling of the economy, the lowest reading since he took office, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll.

That disconnect between a booming economy and how Americans feel about it appears to be widening at a critical time ahead of next year’s presidential election. It is also shaping up to be a key liability for the White House, even as its policies are bolstering job creation and business investments.

This is a particularly bad article, but it boils down to, "things are awesome if you disregard inflation and the daily reality of normal people - like how they're running out of money and going broke."

-----
The 10 mm because a Silvertip 9mm round did not end the fight with Platt even though he was mortally wounded. Then the 10 mm came to the FBI about the time that it got sued by females alleging that the FBI did not make adequate provisions for their firearm training. So the FBI took the 10 mm and made it weaker and weaker until enough of the case was empty so that the 40 S&W appeared as an answer. The 10mm made by S&W also was a large heavy firearm and much more difficult to conceal well. By going to the 40 S&W, it fit the niche in between the 45 and 9mm--more ammo, lighter firearm, more concealable, and harder hitting than the 9mm self defense cartridges of the time.

Those low marks come even as the U.S. economy has, by many measures, notched quarter after quarter of strong growth. Employers have added 14 million jobs under Biden’s watch, and household wealth surged during the pandemic. The median net worth of U.S. families grew by an unprecedented 37 percent between 2019 and 2022, to $192,900, according to the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances.

These people lie for a living, and this is a great example of how. No actual lies here, but the *framing* and context are lies.

When the government - under duress, and not by its own preference - was forced to take its boot off the neck of the economy post-COVID, there was a surge in hiring. This isn't something "Bidenomics" did, it's a natural consequence of the state finally being forced to stop murdering the private sector at such an aggressive pace.

And that vaunted "net worth" gain? That's not money. That's not cash in the bank. That "net worth" gain is, for most people, in two places: real estate and retirement investments. It's ... inflation. Nothing more. And it is irrelevant to daily life.

264 One view holds that a considerable number of reporters and editors stateside are simply anti-Israel, if not outright antisemitic. But a more complicated, less sinister explanation might be that the skewed coverage is simply a product of that paternalistic belief held by so many American newsmen that says it’s their duty to “protect” readers and special-interest groups from news coverage that may feed various -isms and phobias. It’s a savior complex wherein they pull their punches, leaning heavily into ludicrous euphemisms and obscuring facts and reality, because they believe that, in their capacity as information gatekeepers, it’s their responsibility to manage the public’s perceptions and emotions.

Lot of good 40 S&W firearms being sold cheap nowadays but my advice is to get the full service size 40 rather than the compacts or subcompacts. Heavier is also better as most people perceive the 40 as having a sharpish recoil impulse that is tamed by more weight just like the 45 ACP is.

Labor markets are not perfect competition, instead it more resembles monopolistic competition. Instead, they are sticky which is why globalists and global corporations basically want endless open borders so you are competing with someone wage wise from the developing world who is cheaper to them cost wise. Employees from the US or even an expensive state have fixed costs that make it more difficult to move. Then add in family etc. effects on mobility and you often have imperfect local labor markets.

Corporations (other than the executive suite) will always try to get more out of the employee via productivity than it costs to keep them.

But even there, corporations are working with imperfect information just as workers do because it is extremely difficult to measure the productivity of most workers and whether retain/firing them is the best strategy profit wise.

Quite. But XTC's dad's hypothetical commentary might be more accurate and/or relevant if workplace advancement (including compensation) was truly based on competition and performance in the traditional sense. I do not believe this to be the case. In point of fact, the hardest workers who burn the midnight oil, keep their heads down and noses to the grindstone frequently have the least upward mobility within an organization. There are some fundamental assumptions within XTC's dad's hypothetical assessment that I think aren't borne out by reality.

I don't think so on the women. I think that was a consequence, not the intent. Women had to enter the workforce because inflation was destroying family finances. The fiscal game-playing - and subsequent monetary game-playing - had run out of steam. Families needed more money, so the women went to work and doubled the labor supply in ten years, resulting in a permanent realignment. If not for the fiscal destruction of the 1960s (and, to a lesser but still meaningful degree, the New Deal and the various welfare experiments of the 1950s), it probably wouldn't have happened or would have happened differently. The vast surge of women entering the workforce was a reaction to collapsing family finances, not an engineered scheme.

Yes, some women entered the workforce in a serious way because the feminists convinced them that this was the only good and righteous way to live, but they were the minority.

>>Sometimes (according to Bill Binney) the FBI (or other intel) gets evidence from their massive surveillance tools, evidence that can't be used in court (because obtained illegally).

In the case of Flynn, the FBI had all of the recordings, texts and communications between Kislyak, they knew there was nothing criminal contained anywhere in them, and yet they finagled an adhoc interview and framed the questioning to get his interview to deviate from the recordings, in his responses he never lied, he merely said, he had no recollection of certain events, from that they inferred he lied.

And the rest is history.
