Nate Silver has joined the Biden-is-problematic crowd.
Politico’s Jonathan Martin does have inside knowledge, though — he’s one of the more well-sourced reporters in the business. So when he wrote the following paragraph this morning, it set off my internal alarm bells: That’s in part for reasons Biden refuses to accept: his capacity to do the job. The oldest president in history when he first took the oath, Biden will not be able to govern and campaign in the manner of previous incumbents. He simply does not have the capacity to do it, and his staff doesn’t trust him to even try, as they make clear by blocking him from the press. Biden’s bid will give new meaning to a Rose Garden campaign, and it requires accommodation to that unavoidable fact of life. https://tinyurl.com/2rrtjvv3 Posted by: Archimedes at November 13, 2023 12:09 PM (I/Qkd) 37

Sorry to go off-topic here but I need to reply to a comment on the previous thread about having a baby at 15 ruining your life.
Having a kid as a teenager certainly makes your life harder. You'll have to make sacrifices others won't and miss out on things others don't. You may not get to go to college. You may have trouble dating. You'll need more support than you ever thought you would in your teens. You'll grow up faster than you ever would've imagined. But ruined? No, it was inevitable. In times, exhibiting turbulence comparable to now, Hubert Humphrey's Happy Warrior act failed. Nothing has changed over the decades to alter the underlying calculus. Wishing the world to be a brighter place is not a winning strategy to deal with a world trying to lumber into war or confront the Marxist social and pollical insurgency hell bent on blowing up the nation. Or it could be that his vanity campaign simply ran out of road. Posted by: lost in space at November 13, 2023 12:19 PM (ND7Ld) 89

Presumably, the hiring spree is in anticipation of a surge of COVID vaccine lawsuits, as people who were forced by government mandates to take the jab, and suffered serious side effects as a result, try to extract compensation from a system that is stacked against them. “The office is currently expanding to address workload created by an increase in cases filed under the Vaccine Act,” reads the ad posted by the Torts Branch of the DOJ on the USAJobs website. Ron DeSantis
@RonDeSantis 14h Tim Scott is a strong conservative with bold ideas about how to get our country back on track. I respect his courage to run this campaign and thank him for his service to America and the U.S. Senate. I look forward to Tim continuing to be a leader in our party for years to come. Morning.
I'm guessing, and my guesses are *so* good (/sarc), that guys like Pence and Scott dropping out so voters line up behind an actual viable candidate (Desantis) who can maaaaybe challenge Trump. How long before we see Governor Chris-py Kreme drop out? Hailey is running to be the running mate, for sure, just attacking everyone. 'Swammy is too quixotic and seems to represent the Internet (from the way he sometimes talks I wouldn't be surprised if he reads Ace) but a three way race with those two is more manageable for Desantis. I dunno. I'm just spitballing and sipping coffee. Posted by: Robert at November 13, 2023 12:35 PM (1Yy3c) 191

Authored by Bernie Marcus, co-founder of Home Depot, via RealClear Wire,
I am 94 years old and like many of you, I am exhausted by politics and saddened by what I see happening to America. I had hoped it was time for me to move to the sidelines and let younger generations continue the fight to preserve America’s founding freedoms and values. But, like so many of us, I realized that I could not let myself walk away; the stakes are just too high. For Democrats, the choice is simple. If you feel that you are better off now than you were three years ago, you should vote for Joe Biden or whoever is the Democrat candidate. For Republicans, the choice is also simple. Let’s face it: Donald Trump is going to win the nomination. You should be doing all you can to ensure his winning the general election. It's up to the pastor to decide if a person is serious about their profession if faith now, regardless of past behavior. The media would like everyone to think that this is a change of doctrine and/or dogma because the media wants a change. This isn't the change they are looking for. That won't stop them from lying about it though. Posted by: Just Lily at November 13, 2023 12:44 PM (Aufua) 231
