Then there's the case of the McMichaels, who were all convicted and sentenced to life without parole, when they confronted the black guy who was coming out of their neighbor's house. When he grabbed the shotgun that was being held downward, he was killed.

An autistic pro-trump kid trying to leave the protest was herded by police in to a crowd of antifa, who chased and attacked him as he ran to his car. He got in his car, they continued smashing the car with their hands and "signs" (large wooden poles with small signs on top used for violence).
He panicked, floored it, and drove through a crowd to escape.
The lady who died, who was at least 350 pounds, was not seen being struck by the vehicle on any of the video from multiple angles, or even trampled by the crowd or in any other way being in the line of danger. It's not even clear how long after the car in the crowd incident she went down. Her cause of death was a heart attack.
Kid got convicted of murder.

I'd argue that if the Germans had created puppet governments in the occupied parts of the Soviet Union and formed military units from them that they probably win the war.
Ukrainians and the like were more then willing, hell, Bandera kept trying to help the NAZIs even when they told him to get bent.
So imagine the Germans with several million more soldiers and mostly friendly territory in the Western parts of the USSR. Yes, they'd likely be poorly armed but the Germans did eventually run out of their own/allied manpower

Different states call it different things, but generally -- yeah.
"Deprave heart murder" the classic example being shooting a gun in the general direction of a crowd. You may not have intended on killing anyone, but shooting the gun was intentional (not negligent), so it falls somewhere between 1st degree murder and manslaughter.

It's at a minimum manslaughter, assuming there's no intent to kill. Given the likely motivations though, 2nd degree murder is the most likely charge (1st would require premeditation usually, CA laws may vary).
Of course, this is CA so there's a good chance the DA just lets the perp walk free.

I know premeditation is in there but in our permit class we were instructed that even in self defense if your thought process is "im in danger im going to kill that guy" you committed murder. The laws all vary state to state. 1st degree USUALLY requires premeditation, but there are cases where it's been expanded to include the killing of a police officer even without premeditation, for example.
Given that it's CA, there is a decent chance they have a "hate crime" statute that might make a lesser crime 1st degree as well. Not that I expect them to actually USE such a statute if they have it in this case.

I think that's a great example. But it's not wrong to say that the US knew cutting off oil would invite a response from Japan. That doesn't mean that the US *deserved* to have our pacific fleet bombed to shit in port.
Same with Israel / Palestine. Just letting this situation fester for decades is clearly inviting a response from the Arabs. And the Arabs attacking Israel is clearly inviting a response from Israel.
That's a very different argument from saying Hamas is right.
This distinction also seemed to be lost with the Ukraine / Russia situation.
But even larger and more lost is that none of this is the US's problem. These situations exist all over the world.
