Good morning Morons. Welcome to November. Just a couple of house keeping matters to go over before the Prayer Revival. (Rulz)

1) Open thread, feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate away until KT comes along.
2) Be nice to one another. And leave the 'Ette's hair alone.
3) Styptic Pencils will not stop the bleeding from running with sharp objects. Neither will Kwik Stop. Don't ask me how I know.

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.
Prayer Requests:
9/9 – San Franpsycho sent an update Paul, who we have been praying for as he deals with cancer,has elected to discontinue further treatment of his cancer. Please continue to pray for his complete andimmediate healing.
10/14 Update – Thank you for your prayers. They had a pizza party at Paul’s house to celebrate hisbirthday. San Franpsycho was thankful for the opportunity to tell his friend how much he loves him.
10/22 Update – Paul passed away. He was with his dear wife and son. May his memory be a blessing.Thank you to all who prayed and praise the Lord.
9/23 – Polliwog the Ette requested prayers for her mother-in-law, Peggy, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It seems to be contained, but fast-growing, and hopefully a lumpectomy will besufficient. She is understandably nervous about the whole thing and would appreciate prayers.
10/23 Update – Peggy’s surgery went well, but further tests showed that her lymph nodes did have cancer as well, which means chemo and radiation are in her future.
10/28 Update – Peggy misunderstood, and there is no lymph node involvement. But she will still need chemo due to the size of the tumor.
9/24 – Eromero was having dinner with a 95 year-old buddy at the senior living facility, and had to bringhis friend to the ER with pneumonia symptoms.
10/14 Update – Eromero’s friend passed away on 10/4. His widow is 93, deaf, and nearly blind, and Mrs. E. is her caregiver. They are planning a memorial, tying up loose ends, finding resources, etc. They will miss their friend, even though they know he’s better off than we are. Perspective.
10/7 – Halfhand asked for prayers for her dear friend and former neighbor, Kathleen, who has beendiagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and is currently undergoing chemo.
10/7 – AnchorPoint asked for prayers related to a possible job change that terrifies him. It could beabsolutely fantastic for him personally and professionally. He praysfor God’s will, and not his, though.
10/10 – TP requested prayers for her co-worker, J. She has worked with him for many years, and was told today that they are firing J and his crew. Prayers for all of them are welcome, too. But J. is close to retirement age and it’s unlikely he’ll find a good job. Or, prayers that she is wrong and that he can bounce back from this.
10/12 – Hadrian the Seventh said he would appreciate prayers for his sister. An echo cardiogram showed the calcification of her aortic valve is severe and she’ll need surgery to replace it. The operation is scheduled for 11/15.
10/14 – grammie winger would appreciate prayers for her son, who has been in the ICU for 10 days andit looks like it will be a couple more.
10/21 Update – He is doing better. He spent 11 days in ICU and is in residential treatment now.Grammie has high hopes.
10/14 – Jewells says thanks for the continued prayers. She is on a 6 week break from chemo, and is feeling so much better. The date for the next treatment is the day after she gets home from Texas.
10/14 – blaster posted an update on sra blaster’s mom, which is home hospice – she has had someimprovement. They’ve dialed in her pain meds and she is much more comfortable without being knocked out completely. She is better in ways that a late-stage Alzheimer’s patient can be better.
10/14 – gourmand du jour is praying for his friend Wes, studying in Jerusalem, to find a way home safely soon.
10/16 – Donna&&&&&&V and her sister could use some prayers. Donna&&&&&&V had surgery for
breast cancer, and her sister (whom she lives with) has lung cancer, and now also a blood cancer that cannot be treated. Over the past few days she has had unbearable pain in her calf and foot, and they found 3 blood clots. Donna&&&&&&V is afraid she will lose her sister and very best friend.
10/17 – mngiggle requested prayers for his sister, who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer andstarts treatment next week. She and her family could use all the prayers they can get.
10/18 – Fox2! asked for prayers for Shelby, who is due in three weeks.
10/20 – SB asked for prayers for his mother. She is in end-of-life care now. Prayers for his father are needed as well.
10/21 – Sugar Plum Fairy asked for prayers for her dad, Mindful Webworker, as he has been pretty sick or the last few days. Prayers for recovery to full health and strength, and wisdom for her mom to help him would be appreciated.
10/28 Update – Mindful Webworker had an emergency surgery and is recovering well. They are not sure what happened, and tests are underway, but so far his prognosis is good. He is in good spirits and is recovering well. She sends thanks from the whole family for the prayers, and a special thanks to Muldoon for the limerick, which brought laughter to some dark days. Please keep praying, and thanks and glory to God for the doctors saving dad’s life.
10/26 – Cybersmythe has been laid off for the third time in 15 months and asks for prayers and good wishes.
10/26 – Diogenes sent thanks for the prayers for his daughter. The surgery on a brain tumor went welland, while it’ll be a while before they know the final results, the docs were very optimistic.
10/28 – FenelonSpoke thanked the people who prayed for her township open space committee to buy land from her church. It has been approved. Now they just have to have enough money to last until this is all settled.
10/28 - ME asked for prayers. He has been unemployed for nearly two years. He isn’t even gettinginterviews anymore; there have been hardly any in the last 6 months. The longer he is unemployed, theharder it seems to even get an interview. Maybe with the Lord’s blessing he could finally land a jobbefore his savings completely run out. Which is right around the corner.

6 Today I'm going to be splitting duty between painting baseboard and trim on our recently completed renovation and converting my H1 from crappy side-post battery setups to top post. This means I get to go to the marine supply store and buy lots of cool toys.

I have two prayer requests;

That if it's God's will there is a mighty showing for the conservative School Board candidates and the Democrat candidates here in my community and elsewhere. The woman running against my running mate is a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion lawyer. She's a very well spoken woman, but I have a feeling she endorses every woke thing out there.

Also, thanks be to God the township voted to buy our land at the church. Now we just have to survive till they get their backsides in gear.

And it was rotten.

52 Morning, birdbath folk,

I've got a few minutes to breathe before Miss Linda comes by. We'll pop little Dagny Sophia into her carrier (usually she walks right in) for the trip to the shelter where she'll get her rabies shot and microchip. Then we'll zip back and pick up the little black rescue kitten to bring her to the local SPCA. She's been good, Linda says, despite a tendency to try clawing her way up human legs. I hope she'll find a home soon.

Anyway! 'Tis cool now, still about 59, with a high today pushing 80. This would be great weather for September, but here we are in November and discussing frozen birdbaths.

71 I've been cutting back on the caf'd coffee in the last week or so. Caffeinated makes me visit the head too often, in conjunction with the, ah, increased activity recently from the edge-of-diabetes higher blood sugar. Since I cut out all the chips and cookies, am doing a minimal amount of whole grains, increasing the fiber, and holding steady on the protein, I've been doing better.

Still, 1/2 caf/decaf works fine for now.

76 Morning horde and Prayer for all, needed or not.
I had one hen that would only lay in my neighbors award winning bulb and flower garden. Little bird also liked the bulbs. She would dig them up to eat and deposit an egg.

Neighbor was not impressed with that deal. I'm sure the chicken thought it was square.

Why that stupid bird couldn't dig up some of the thousands in my yard is a mystery.

84 The funeral yesterday was very small and, I guess, informal. It was all graveside, but really nicely done. The 2 younger sisters were there, so that was terribly sad. They both had to say good-bye to their oldest sibling.

Her only son showed up, late, pushing his ex-wife baby momma in a wheelchair. He was in a red Ford t-shirt. He's trash and his ex is Hitler. My SiL had to remind her mother to be civil since they were at her sister's funeral.

Nothing happened, but it was clear he needed to pay his respects and GTFO.

After, we all, minus the douche, went to eat. It was nice to be a part of a family gettogether that hadn't happened in a LONG time. That was fun.

May she go with God.

108 It has been a while since I gave an update on my son's health. He had surgery to remove a large tumor from the center of his brain stem back in March. A month of rehabilitation in the hospital, and then ongoing therapy to re-learn how to walk (his motor muscles work, but the "feel" is different enough that he has been unsteady on his feet). They say they removed the whole tumor, but gave him six weeks of radiation and chemo, just to be sure.

He returned to work, part-time, just two months after the surgery. Progress has been slow, but steady. He actually jogged, for a few seconds, in his last session of physical therapy -- which made him very happy. Small, trivial activities wear him out quickly. His paralyzed vocal cord still has not recovered, so he speaks in a rough whisper, and his voice gives out before the end of the day. But once in a while his full voice returns briefly, which gives us hope.

Next week, we will all be walking the city's 5K with him. It will be exhausting, but a good day nonetheless.

Thank you to the Horde for your prayers on our behalf. We are still on this road, but it feels like we dodged the bullet this time around.

We don't have confirmation yet so we are trying to temper our excitement. But...four separate HRD (human remains discovery) dogs, commonly called cadaver dogs, working independently each signaled a strong reaction at the same location within the 5-acre lot formerly owned by the parole violating sex offender who disappeared at the same time as my FIL. Four out of four, all with strong reactions graded by the handlers as 10 on a scale of 1-10. They tell us this signals greater than 95% likelihood of finding human remains. We are awaiting GPR (ground-penetrating radar), hopefully this next week to hone down the search zone and then a forensic excavation. Remains to be seen (pun intended) whether it is Jack or not. We have grieved for 15 years, so this is only good news. If it pans out, vindication of a sort.

May I add one, please? You've prayed for Q before. He's my neighbor with the bad back who has exhausted all the surgical fixes. Doctors installed a temporary nerve stimulator a few weeks ago and your prayers worked wonders. So Wednesday they installed the permanent stimulator. It was a disaster. He woke up in excruciating pain, running a low fever and vomiting. CT scan yesterday finds an ileus. It's evidently caused by the stimulator and if it won't clear he'll go back to surgery to have it removed. Please, if you have a spare prayer lying around send it Heavenward. Thanks, y'all.

Amen! The All Saints Day Mass was a treat this week. Love to go to the weekday Masses where you have all the schoolkids there. There is something perfect and pure in hearing children sing the praises of God. I get the whole "cherubs as children" motif.

Also, they are fun to watch. The 'sign of peace' always provokes a controlled mini-riot as the kids revel in being able to talk and move freely for a minute.

I have noticed the ratio of materials verses cool toys when doing house renovations. It seems to run 10-20%. $1000 in materials always seems to have $100-200 worth of tools attached, and it don't matter if you already have the tools.

All of my kids rebelled against going to Mass when they were teenagers. One even went full God-hating trans (thank you, public schools).

So we gave them space, while setting ground rules - holidays will be observed with a Mass or no gifts/feast for you! Two of the three have come back and are increasingly fascinated by what they are learning. My eldest is still an apostate, but after a recent outburst from her over faith, former trans-kid dryly observed: "the demonic energy is strong with that one."

I've avoided the topic entirely. Yes, I did the prayer and fasting, but outside of that, nothing I can do.

Besides, I'm sick to death of people who insist that it's prefectly okay to use human shields, store weapons in hospitals and mosques and the other side just has to deal with it.

Not only that, they try to do numeric comparisons to assign guilt, which is absurd. If one side is desperately trying to protect women and children and the other is hiding behind them, yeah, you're going to see disproportionate losses.

People trying to say Israel is worse than Russia ignore the fact that Ukraine is actually following the laws of war. Troops have uniforms, rank, chains of command, etc.

One of the most idiotic thing is those who have been shown proof that Hamas places it's command posts under major hospitals and mosques saying "Oh Noez Israel attacked a mosque!" Yes, and American forces demolished the monastery of Montecassino when the German army used it as an artillery base. Civilian status is forfeited when that happens.

I've been looking at the geolocated maps of where the forces are - a single map tells me more than dozens of pages of prose. I see Israeli armored forces closing in on Al-Shifa hospital, which is Hamas HQ, and I believe they take it soon. That's why Hamas leaders have been ID'd as trying to flee to Egypt already (but they got blocked)

They probably have their ABSD transponder turned off. I'm near a military installation that sees a lot of rotary activity and C-130's. Many don't show up on flight tracking sites even though I can plainly see them.

you say that as a joke - a number of them were ID'd yesterday when they tried to disguise themselves as critically wounded civilians who were to be transported to Egypt by special ambulance. I think it may have been the Egyptians who caught on to it and blocked them.

and yesterday there was another round of harsh criticism by the usual suspects, when Israel bombed an ambulance being used to transport Hamas fighters to firing positions.

It could have been - that was probably the plan. But Hamas jumped too early, without making sure it's allies were good to go. Now Hezbollah has gotten cold feet, the Houthis in Yemen have sent off the few missiles they had with no effect, and Iran is backing down from starting a war they know they would lose. So Hamas is now left all on its own, to face the full might of the Israeli military; and Iran just threw away the best proxy army they had in the region for nothing.

Timing is everything in war - and Iran and it's proxies botched the job completely. Now it's too late.

In 2020 I voted in person, as always. When the poll worker requested my ID I handed her my medical marijuana license, which looks similar, by mistake. She never missed a beat, checked off my name and gave me my ballot. I almost died when she handed my license back. But it sure didn't bother her.

After someone online and via X (Twitter) posted the flights and position of Elon Musk's private jet someone else made an attempt to kidnap one of his kids after the jet landed in California. It caused a stir. About the same time it became apparent that a lot of wealthy people had no clue their jets could be tracked online. By anyone. So they started to complain to the FAA. A "new" type of transponder is in the works that doesn't broadcast on the typical frequencies in use, and easily intercepted today.

That's for the rich and famous. The military just turns theirs off. But I imagine the junta is well aware that AF-1 and every other FedGov civilian based aircraft can, and are tracked when they're flying. So they've started to turn those transponders off as well.

I've seen several FedGov aircraft on ADS-BExchange's website including AF-1 and the various 737 and 757 based jets people like the VP and cabinet members use.

I read a very long Wiki page on 'Christianity in the Middle East' that the leftists haven't abused... yet. What Hamas did to Israel is what the islamists have been doing to Christians for centuries. In it I read what the population counts were of Christians - then and now. Country after country, staggering losses. They don't stop pushing Christians out or killing them. The Jews have absolutely no choice but to fight.
