Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Matt Gaetz: McCarthy Outed Himself as the Ringleader Knifing All Other Speaker Nominees in the Back; The Exposure of This Betrayal Led to the Election of JohnsonFrom Deb Heine of American Greatness: Matt Gaetz claims that McCarthy was ringleading the liberals to tank every single person nominated as speaker, to force the caucus to ultimately conclude that they must renominate him for Speaker. He said he moved to have poll on whether or not Johnson would be acceptable to the caucus, expecting that he would be. Someone object, saying it was against the rules to do this. Someone moved to suspend the rules for just one poll. The one man who objected to this minor suspension of rules? Kevin McCarthy, he say. He says he then went to Scalise, Jordan, and Emmer and told them that McCarthy had just outed himself as the person causing every nominee to fail. This led to these men then supporting Johnson. He also says that McCarthy attempted a scheme to get his allies to secretly write-in "McCarthy" for speaker, but that somehow Patrick McHenry, acting Speaker, scuttled that through a parliamentary maneuver. And then Johnson demanded an on-the-record voice vote, to stop the people who intended to secretly write in "McCarthy" from doing so. The cowards, forced to vote on the record, voted for Johnson, mostly. Or so he says. Obviously, I wasn't in the room. I have to prepare everyone for bad news, though. I was surprised that McCarthy said he'd remain a Representative. 1, these egotistical c*nts usually do not stick around to be minor player once they've had a leadership role and have been booted from that position, and 2, moderate/liberal GOPers have a long and vile history of deliberately working against the GOP if conservatives dare to best them in a contest. Yet McCarthy said he had no plans to retire. What gives? Well, now we understand: He couldn't say he was retiring, because he was scheming to re-gain the Speakership. Obviously no one would vote for him if he petulantly said "I'm quitting." But now he will quit, because his scheming is over.* And that will leave Republicans with an even thinner margin in the House. And remember, that gay hustler from Brazil is about to be booted out. The Democrat governors of those states will schedule the special race to replace them as far into the future as the law will permit. Maybe they can delay it until the regular 2024 elections. I dunno. So we're going to be in even worse shape in the House than we are now. * CNN and MSNBC and Disney-owned ABC might even decide to interfere in US politics by offering him a job as an "analyst," thereby inducing him to leave the House.Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

____ That is, I assume, a mere statement of fact and not a complaint about how the speakership shook out. McCarthy had to go, as this post demonstrates. Better to shed the RINOs at first, then hopefully replace them over time with solid conservatives. At least in theory, and if we have enough time. If they want to detonate the party over it and deliver it to the richly-deserved fate of the Whigs, then it can do so. Any Republican, ANY, from the state of California should be considered an enemy saboteur. Why didn't McCarthy kick Pelosi out of her digs on day one? Same team.

Posted by: Elric Blade at October 25, 2023 02:52 PM (iFTx/) Johnson won't be - at least during this session. But, we are hoping a bigger point was made. The GOPe still wants to go back to the pre-Trump era (and I'm just using this as a demarcation line, not trying to make this about Trump) where the GOPe played failure theater and helped the left advance its agenda. this was a shot across the GOPe's bow. It's part of a larger war for what the GOP is. Is the GOP a conservative party pursuing conservative goals? Or, is it what it has in reality been for the last 50 years - a party for international corporations helping the left advance its agenda while pretending to be a somewhat conservative party? Posted by: ace at October 25, 2023 02:59 PM (KRtlO) ++++ There is a downside, insofar as the Republicans losing power is a downside. That does remove the only brake, crappy as it is. But maintaining the Republicans as they have been for at least the past 15 years - ever since at very latest the "Tea Party" betrayal - is not a win, either. It is a brake, but it's barely that. More like a worn out retarder than a brake. It can shave a couple of miles per hour off the runaway truck, but it can't change its direction or slow it down enough to try taking the next exit. The GOP is not fit for purpose as it is currently constituted. It needs to be slapped about the face and neck until it gets better. It could also die. That is the other option. Adam Schiff
@RepAdamSchiff You might be Googling who Mike Johnson is this morning. Let me make it simple: Johnson is a hard-right, pro-Trump, leading election denier in the House. Sadly, this is what passes for Speaker material in the Republican conference. - Sold! -------------- Thanks for saving me a google. My only hope is Johnson is 1% as bad as Schiff thinks he is. I'm sure happy about it. And for all the scorn and condemnation poured on Gaetz's head, it's worth pointing that Gaetz is smarter than McCarthy, and beat him at his own game.

338 When Democrats get control of everything how will we be able to tell?
Posted by: Moron Robbie is raising arrows at October 25, 2023 03:33 PM I assume an early indicator would be they start dropping the mask of respectable moderation during public speeches, and, when surprised by the blowback from the public, scramble to walk it back? Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she misheard a question during Monday’s White House press briefing that resulted in viral criticism from all sides after she appeared to downplay a rise in antisemitism and quickly pivoted to condemning anti-Muslim attacks. 328 323 Gaetz naysayers say he’s a grifter based on them saying he’s a grifter.
Posted by: Drive by at October 25, 2023 03:30 PM (MNhXM) ========= 1) I'm glad Gaetz did what he did, and I've always been glad since he did it. 2) I assume Gaetz is a grifter because he is in Congress. Posted by: TheJamesMadison --------- Gaetz got burned by the Deep State pushing their sex issue and McCarthy in part was responsible for continuing the Ethics investigation after the Florida allegations collapsed in court due to an ex FBI agent in a law firm trying to extort money over it. Supposedly, rumor has it that Gaetz intends to run for the open Governor's race in FL because DeSantis is term limited in 2026. So it would make sense why he did not care about the long term consequences in the House of ousting McCarthy. As the original TJM said, Let Ambition Check Ambition. If the Pubbies want to win they should be in full agreement on moving illegals to Blue Shitholes as fast as they can get them there. NYC is whining cuz 126K illegals. Lets see what happens when that number is 1.2M. Dems have opened their own grave. It would be irresponsible of us not to fill it full with virtuous illegals.

Overtime, you develop a certain 'smell' attached to people with an interest--the AMD/Intel fanboy crap in the 90's was a non political example. But since 9/11, a lot of influence directing goes on which you don't see unless you got to assorted websites to get what message they are pushing today.
Fair. FWIW - I do this for free, on my own time. Been bitching like this since Ruby Ridge, Waco, and 9/11. It's just the same old story, over and over again. Different players. Posted by: Simple Folks at October 25, 2023 03:43 PM (r/uUB) 387

I hope other Republican’s hold Johnson to the same standard that Gaetz held McCarthy. Regular order and a cut of at least 8% in discretionary spending.
If that does not happen before the current CR ends, Republicans should vote JOhnson out and demand Conservatives fix this. And if the Govt is shut down till Jan 2025 so be it. I am sure Ace and others on this site will attest this is a winning strategy for keeping the house and Senate in 2024. Posted by: CATO at October 25, 2023 08:09 PM (V5G72) 401
