The Morning Report — 10/24/23

liverspleen.jpg

Good morning, kids. It's looking like the section entitled "ISRAEL AT WAR" is proving to be a misnomer. Despite artillery and aerial bombardment that has reportedly taken out senior commanders and some numbers of the terrorists, Israel is not at war. Israel right now is merely playing at war. They have wasted precious time, is frittering away the energy, readiness and righteous rage of its frontline troops as well as its citizenry, and squandered the very limited window of opportunity afforded them by the rare generally worldwide outrage at the worst atrocity on the Jewish people since the Second World War, and worst of all are perhaps not only on the verge of losing the initiative but being transmogrified by its enemies into the actual aggressor.

If this sounds all too familiar, that's because it is. Every time Israel has had to deal with military incursions and operations to punish/neutralize the disease carrying cockroaches, (Islam being the disease and "Palestinians" the carriers) they wind up leaving them to fester just out of reach. While much of that is the fault of insane "international pressure," i.e. Jew-hatred, some of it for sure is their own fault, for whatever internal political dynamics there are in Israel.

But this time, "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" is an understatement to say the least (unintentional Yogi-ism). Global as well as internal Israeli dynamics are such that letting Hamas, the "Palestinians" and Islam itself escape unscathed after what happened just over two weeks ago could quite possibly prove to be a death blow to Israel. And I do not think it's a stretch to conclude that if Israel goes, much of the free world (for your definition of the word "free") and whatever is left of what we hold dear is going to go soon afterwards.

The question of course is "Why?"

What’s taking so long? Why hasn’t Israel moved into Gaza and begun to obliterate Hamas? The answer, I’m afraid, is drearily predictable.

The death toll for the Hamas jihad massacres in Israel has now climbed over 1,400, yet over two weeks after the Oct. 7 attacks that appalled the world, the promised Israeli ground offensive has not yet materialized. The reason for the delay can be summed up in what the man who claims to be president would say were two words, and those words are that same man’s name: Old Joe Biden.

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that “U.S. and European governments have joined to put pressure on Israel to hold off on its ground invasion of Gaza to allow more time to win the release of hostages held by Hamas, U.S. and foreign officials said.” That pressure almost certainly originates from the Biden regime, which showed its hostility to Israel from the beginning by restoring aid to the Palestinians after Trump had stopped that aid in view of their continuing support for jihad terror, and which reaffirmed that hostility just days ago, when Old Joe went all the way to Israel to stab our most reliable Middle East ally in the back and announce that he was giving $100 million to Gaza, which means, despite his denials, $100 million to Hamas. . .

. . . Every day the ground incursion is delayed, in fact, aids Hamas by giving it time to strengthen its defenses, set traps for Israeli soldiers, and stir up its populace with even more Jew-hatred and bloodlust than they get in ordinary times. At this point, it isn’t even completely certain that there will be any ground operation in Gaza at all, despite the fact that there can be no definitive end of Hamas without one, and so the bloody events of Oct. 7 will just be replayed on another day.

What the estimable Robert Spencer does not state in his analysis is that Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants and most especially his dog-eating mutt stoner controller who is directly responsible for tearing this nation apart have a rabid hate on for Israel and Jews. Always have, always will. And if, that is to say when this is "replayed on another day," Israel will be finished and their dream of making Iran not just a counterbalance to Israel, as the psycho eggheads in Foggy Bottom want, but actually the sole power in the region will be realized.

Speaking of dog-eating mutt stoners, I give you your emetic for the day, with a hint of roast poodle and a soupçon of halitosis for some extra texture:

. . .the world is watching closely as events in the region unfold, and any Israeli military strategy that ignores the human costs could ultimately backfire. Already, thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the bombing of Gaza, many of them children. Hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes. The Israeli government’s decision to cut off food, water and electricity to a captive civilian population threatens not only to worsen a growing humanitarian crisis; it could further harden Palestinian attitudes for generations, erode global support for Israel, play into the hands of Israel’s enemies, and undermine long term efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.

Aside from the fact that the concept of "Palestine" and "Palestinian" are even more mythical than Shangri-La, Brigadoon and the tooth fairy combined, the Islamic attitude for Israel and Jews for the last millennum-and-a-half has not been exactly akin to Rodney King with a bottle of Coke (cola, not llello) doing a guest shot with the New Seekers in a rendition of "Kumbaya," now has it?

It is becoming more and more evident, to me anyway, that Biden and his handlers are gumming up the works intentionally. Despite carrier groups and aid money (allegedly) and the initial total bullshit of standing shoulder to shoulder with Israel, the actions of this junta, that is the illegitimate government of the United States is acting in alliance with Hamas.

Well, what about the American and other foreign hostages being held in Gaza? Don't you think, Sefton, that Biden has concern for them? Do. Not. Make. Me. Laugh. Joe Biden cares for the American citizens being held in Gaza about as much as he cared for the American citizens likely still trapped in Afghanistan. That is to say, fuck-all. Check that: he cares for them insofar as he can help Hamas use them as human shields to either delay or cancel an Israeli invasion. Hell, Biden is praying to whatever pentagram-induced demon he prays to for Americans to get killed so that he can condemn Israel to political death with its actual death perhaps his legacy in his, or his successor's, second term. The American and foreign citizens there are every bit as much being used as human shields by Biden, and other nations, as they are being used by Hamas.

Is that harsh? Is that hyperbolic? If you look at his/his handlers' words and deeds over the course of years as well as that of Foggy Bottom and the ivory tower Ivy League eggheads who have infected it for decades, as well as history, then I challenge you to draw any other conclusion.

Pause for a moment to consider now the video footage from 17 days ago and it is even more horrendous than the eyewitness accounts. And it's only going to get worse from there. So that leads us back to the question of why Israel is delaying this. Surely, if a somewhat enlightened Brooklyn schmuck like me can see what's going on, they can. Can't they?

How can they be worried about "non-combatants" when we have clear evidence that so-called non-combatant Gaza citizens joined in the raping, burning and pillaging with as much if not more savagery than the Hamas "fighters" (puke) who were amped up on some kind of crystal meth pervatin and Koranic excerpts (but mostly Koranic excerpts)? Bibi, baby. THIS IS WAR. Not only that, it's a very close doppelgänger to Operation Barbarossa. You were actually invaded by a military force whose main aim was not only mass murder of unarmed civilians but the attempted seizing and holding of territory.

I'll say it until my dying day: Israel must invade Gaza, flatten every building and kill every legitimate military target that walks on two feet without regard for civilian casualties and indeed any hostages. Those are secondary, at best, considerations.

The future of Israel hangs in the balance here. If they continue to sit on their hands, which is in my view a second front being waged against them by the junta-controlled United States, then soon enough, that future will be in doubt.

UPDATE: Commenter and friend Nevergiveup reminded me that with our attention focused on Gaza, there are still thousands of missiles, and who knows how many Hezbollah terrorists aimed at Israel from the north. The calculus might be to launch some kind of operation in that direction first. We shall see.

UPDATE 2: Commenter Biden's Dog sniffs a whole lotta malarkey, who is in Israel is reporting an incoming rocket barrage into central Israel from Gaza.

13 Haven't read the comments but I just can't ditch the impression that the Israeli's got pantsed by the f'n Arabs.

This is turning out to be a master-class in how to get away with atrocity in todays world. The latest chapter is dribbling out the hostages, a few at a time. People would say, why attack when if we wait more innocents will be saved.

The assholes that planned this are incredibly diabolical. This is the enemy that the West faces.

16 i'll say this JJ, more and more, i'm of the mind that Israel needs to take 30 minutes of the video they showed reporters, use the graphic videos and ONLY block the faces of the victims, and broadcast it globally.

Make it as ugly and explicit as it was. Then publicly summon the various ambassadors and ask them to deny Israel's right of retaliation. make it black and fucking white.

24 ISR missions over the South China Sea have typically been low-stress, until China started harassing intel planes as aggressively as they harass Philippine fishing boats.

Those flights should now be accompanied by a minimum of three or four fighters, who should move to intercept Chinese fighters well away from the ISR. Don't wait for the Chinese to disrupt the formation. Be aggressive.

Not really 'asked' more 'told'.

Part of this is just the continuation of what they (the Global community) have done for the last two decades. Allow horrific acts in the name of keeping the business as usual going. They see this as a small price to pay (because they are not the ones paying it.)

I keep hoping that people will see that this is becoming less and less about small scale things and is rapidly devolving into survival, where the small stupidities can no longer be allowed, because you just no longer have the margin of error for them any more.

The response to the current thing in Israel reminds me a ton of the response to 9/11- but on a much quicker time scale. Mass outrage, followed by equivocation, stupidity and doing stupid shit once they thought the coast was clear. After 9/11 it took a few years. This has taken just days for the worms to start crawling out of the wood work.

There are two ways to look at that, I think. One is that Israel is the vanguard of the civilized, a pied-a-terre in the barbarian reaches, a contemporary Hadrian's Wall holding back the hordes. If it falls then the thrust of civilization is pushed back in the hinterlands but the homeland is still secure (from an empire standpoint - Israel's homeland is most decidedly not secure).

But the other side of such an assessment is that when an empire runs out of steam, it tends to do so quickly and the loss of outlying provinces spells a strong probability of barbarians sacking Rome itself before too long.

Interesting use of Hadrian's Wall analogy. The wall was originally built to bisect Brigantes(?) territory. They were a group that had given the Romans a lot of trouble in Britain and they wanted to specifically restrict THIER movement, not keep them out. They used the wall to control the flow of people and trade through that specific territory. And it worked (as did the Antonine Wall to the north.)

The better analogy would be the Limes(sp?) Germanicus. A line of fortification along the Rhine meant to keep out the German tribes from invading Gaul and Northern Italy. The thing is? Many Romans of the time HATED the idea of the Limes Germanicus. It was seen as TOO passive and being on the defensive instead of neutralizing the threat.

So, good analogy- just wrong series of fortifications.

Israel does not have "global support." It's never even had mere "international support." It had *American* support and basically nothing else. Even in the "good old days," America was unable to bring its empire to heel on this topic.

So forget the "global community" nonsense. It doesn't apply and it never has. The only thing that matters is American support, and it appears that Israel doesn't have it anymore. So it will probably be going it alone no matter what, and I hope they realize that.

As to the latter, who care about "Palestinian attitudes?" They hate Israel with an incandescent fury anyway. When they already view you as subhuman monsters who need to be exterminated and when they already work toward that end with single-minded obsession for decades on end, what's the real added risk?

55 Bibi is delaying because he wants to, not because of US or EU pressure. He's a manager--not a leader or a warrior.

As a discussed here in the 1st days after, there is no way he doesn't escape the coming blame for missing the build-up.
Especially when you couple that blame with the inevitable international outcry over a few dead Palestinians.

He's delaying because he and his advisors are trying to chart a path through the second part (limited, precision strikes) that he thinks will save him from the international left and fend off the domestic right.

Declare all who remain in Gaza enemy soldiers--becaues they all are--and stop pussy-footing around.
Expell all media from Isreal. Even domestic.
Shut down the internet, phones, TV and radio; blanket Gaza and a 5-mile radius with cell phone and radio jammers.
Make Isreal an informational black hole.
Then, after 3 days of panic, confusion and chaos in Gaza--which will reveal their logistics, communications and fortifications; and the traitors providing aid--attack with a rebel yell charge to spread total fear.

For most people who are proponents of ESG, it's a good-time luxury... a cheap virtue signal. We're not in good times and nobody has room for luxuries.

New York State:

"A bill floated by the group would effectively allow the decommission of natural gas pipelines and plants and expedite the transition away from using natural gas for heating or cooking in all New York homes, according to Gothamist.

The proposed legislation passed the Senate 39-23, but did not successfully pass in the Assembly, where it is back in committee with 71 co-sponsors, per the website."

65 It is becoming more and more evident, to me anyway, that Biden and his handlers are gumming up the works intentionally. Despite carrier groups and aid money (allegedly) and the initial total bullshit of standing shoulder to shoulder with Israel, the actions of this junta, that is the illegitimate government of the United States is acting in alliance with Hamas.
++++
I don't think the US government gives two shits about Hamas. It *might* care a bit more about Israel. What the US is probably striving for is status quo ante. The goal, I suspect, is more of the same and no major spill-over into Lebanon or Jordan that might compel Iran to get more directly involved and therefore engage the Saudis or the Emirates.

If that were to happen, the US will be in a tough spot of either openly backing its favored son (Iran) against massive opposition to that idea at home, working against its favored son - and destroying at least a decade's worth of intense diplomatic work - or of just sitting it out and losing credibility as the global hegemon.

There is *nobody* in powerful offices right now that wants anything but business as usual as of three weeks ago.

71 I has a movie question for you morons and ettes:

What did you think of Spielberg's movie "Munich"?

I've never seen it because reading the reviews at the time it seemed like the same old boring leftist "we've become worse monsters than the monsters we're hunting" equivalence that just irritates the dog piss outta me.

The reason I ask is that the Israeli gov't/military has announced that they are forming a special unit to find and kill all the Hamas terrorists involved in the recent massacre of civilians. Which sounds very similar to what the Israelis did after the massacre at the Munich Olympics.

So...Hollywood will almost certainly follow-up with some form of sequel to "Munich". Will it be some sort of left equivalence cubed? Will it be a more realistic look at the current world?

Or, have I understood "Munich" the movie wrongly and it recognized the righteousness of the post-Munich assassinations?

The calculus might be to launch some kind of operation in that direction first. We shall see.

Preparing to launch. I don't think Israel is going to remilitarize the West Bank as a part of its plan, nor do I think they'll invade Lebanon or Syria or Jordan. But there is a real risk of a front there opening no matter what once they roll into Gaza. I don't know how much preparation is going on to move west and north in response to a front opening there, but having an army in place and ready *before* moving into the inevitable long slog in Gaza may be a part of the delay.

79 Speaking of using Americans and children as hostages and human shields, here are two small observations.

1. According to the UN, roughly half of the population of Gaza is age 18 or younger. This tends to be a feature of undeveloped, nay, primitive societies. Consider what this says about life expectancy in Gaza. Also a convenient weapon for Hamas to use in leveraging international sympathy and as JJ highlighted in the content, stoking generational rage against Israel.

2. Colorado Pediatrician Barbara Zind who traveled to Gaza around 10/5/23 remains stuck at a UN compound in southern Gaza near the closed border crossing into Egypt (as of last update about four days ago). It is not clear from available reports whose control this compound is under, be it Egypt, Hamas, or the UN.

The Israelis have sent in a couple of probing attacks into Gaza one of which was met with antitank fire killing one soldier. 118 1.

The primary purpose of women in Gaza is to breed more jihadists. That's it. They send them out to kill or be killed as soon as they are old enough to carry a weapon or even a rock.

It's no wonder there are relatively few oldsters among them.

There is no room - not even a micron - for faith or morality at any political table in Washington, DC or in many of the state capitals. Faith and morality is squeezed out of any person who tries to get there, or that person will be forbidden entry. There are no moral men in Washington.

123 Invading Lebanon was a mistake last time and would probably not happen again, but I could see as a possibility that Israel might become very aggressive in the no-mans-land along the northern border. Mostly, I bet they wait to see what Hezbollah does first. No reason to pick a fight by invading, I would think, when Israel really hopes to avoid that expansion.

139 DOJ Offers Sweetheart Plea Deal To IRS Consultant Who Leaked Tax Return Information Of Trump And Thousands Of Wealthy Americans

Yet prosecutors in the Justice Department’s public integrity section of the criminal division charged Mr. Littlejohn in September with only a single count of willfully disclosing confidential tax information. ... The plea deal documents filed with the court note that ... “the defendant’s stipulated Sentencing Guidelines range is 8 to 14 months,” with a fine range of “$4,000 to $40,000.” What a steal. ...

The good news is that federal Judge Ana Reyes might not go along for this easy ride, given the gravity of the crime. During last week’s hearing, she promised there would be “severe consequences to this illegal act.” She’s still limited by the government’s decision to let Mr. Littlejohn cop to one count, since that means he cannot receive more than five years in jail.

It is almost certainly a combination of factors, and Bartiromo is smart enough to know it.

Some of them are surely Xi's agents. I doubt it's most of them, though it could be. Xi doesn't need to send them over the southern border when he can send them straight to Stanford on student visas, and where they will do far more damage. Xi probably isn't building terror cells in the American interior. There'd be no point. That isn't the game.

I suspect that most of the Chinese nationals streaming over the border are the Chinese equivalent of the Guatemalans streaming over the border: poor people running away (except the Chinese are probably not cartel-managed slaves like the Latinos are).

165 While I disagree with the delays, I believe what most are missing here here the biggest weakness of the current West, and that is-

the need/obsession to "Titrate" all events and actions.

It's part of Our Betters need/obsession for total control. Usually, it's expressed by the word "proportionality".

But, what it is is the believe that if "we" just put the right amount of military pressure or give them just the correct smidgen of cash or let them have "room to riot" and surrender exactly the correct piece of land, that we can win negotiations and get what "we" want.

We saw that here in the US after 9/11. But, suppose that we'd taken our righteous anger and immediately nuked the top 3 islamic holy sites, including Mecca to dust. Nuked anything bigger than a dog house in Afghanistan, assassinated every single Saudi and Emirate Royal who financed 9/11(and there were plenty). What if we'd done all that? I'd argue that we'd be in a much better world today.

Yes, it would've been horrible. But, it would've been a "horrible" that the world understood.

Right now, we see Israel engaged in the same titration...it won't work well for them either.

IIRC anyone who legally leaves China has to apply for an exit visa. "Legally" being the operative there. With an exit visa there'd be no reason to be smuggled into the U.S. But you'd be identified.

@SenFettermanPA Now is not the time to talk about a ceasefire. We must support Israel in efforts to eliminate the Hamas terrorists who slaughtered innocent men, women, and children. Hamas does not want peace, they want to destroy Israel. We can talk about a ceasefire after Hamas is neutralized.

Whenever someone says "think of the children", they leave out an implied "Israel should do something about that". They never mention that Hamas started this crisis (and certainly didn't "think of the children" ) and can end it just as quickly.

I'd bet on a lot of them being near-poor (not abjectly poor, but not doing well, and with no expectation of improvement). Gaming Red China's exit visa system is difficult but not impossible, and it happens via third countries. It is hard to get an exit visa to the US and similar, but it is fairly easy to get an exit visa to other places.

Go from China to some country where the entry visa can also be applied to a third country (say, Turkey) without involvement from the CCP. Then hop from Turkey to a country where there is open visitation (say, Brazil). Once in South America, move overland until you hook up with a cartel-backed convoy and make your way north. Unlike the natives, you will have to pay the cartel operatives cash. The scheme will cost $15k-$20k. Real money, but workable for many.

I expect the latter, as that would be the normal commute pattern in the morning from outlying areas, but no mention that I've seen. This a.m. the news people say the northbound side is the one completely closed, so I guess that it happened there.

Yes, there was fog, and smoke from a marsh fire. (I saw the haze and smelled it on Sunday afternoon.) You'd think people would call in and say, "It's too dangerous to drive." You'd think they'd slow the F down and leave extra space between the vehicle ahead. But noooo. 226 MOUT operations are incredibly complex and high risk. The enemy knew this would be one of the responses and has already had an incredibly long time to prep. Delaying could have the effect of degrading their capabilities and uncovering some of their prepared positions and tunnel complexes. They will also need to resupply and the longer you wait the more movement gets uncovered. They have also advised the civilian population to move out which will allow the assault to proceed scorched earth. Meanwhile they're taking out command and control. They may have gotten pressure not to go in, and they will eventually, but militarily it could be a plus in the end.

You'd think, but that's not what happens. California studied this exhaustively because of fog-related pileups. What they learned was completely the opposite of what they expected.

In heavy fog, speeds often *increase.* People intend to go slower, but they actually do the opposite, entirely by accident. There is less visual input, fewer obvious indicators of speed. You think you're going slow, but you're actually going fast - and since visibility is low, you're paying attention to what's in front of you and checking your gauges less.

California's first response to that finding was surprisingly effective. During fog, they reprogram the electronic highway signs. They say things like, "Dense Fog. SLOW DOWN!"

Fog-related pileups declined precipitously after making that change.

230 The election system is designed in such a way as to assume honesty will prevail.
There are virtually no safeguards against rigging that can be exercised after the count has been performed. The timing is too short to really go thru courts, the courts don’t want to deal with it for a multitude of reasons, other politicians are afraid that their elections (with or without their knowledge) were rigged and they will lose their positions, the system doesn’t want to believe the elections can be rigged or the facade of the Potemkin governments just might be revealed. Leaving us with anarchy.

When Joe Biden says that Trump is destroying democracy, he means that, unlike Nixon who let JFK cheat in Texas and Illinois, Trump would not turn the other cheek to maintain the illusion of fairness and honesty.

Abandoning Lebanon to Hezbollah and Iranian control has been a huge, 40 year mistake, highlighted by this week's 40 year anniversary of the marine bombing in Beirut. The only thin defense for Israel is that once America turned tail and ran, it was difficult for Israel to maintain it's positon there. (but now the price is clear)

MSM will not ask those questions.

Coal and NG make up around 70% of our power, and they're going to be completely shut off by 2030 with no replacement available.

A (R) president isn't going to save NYS. A (R) president isn't going to solve NYS problems. What is scarier is that the legislature is talking about decommissioning pipelines. There are pipelines that go through New York to New England. They have to - can't get into New England without going through NY somehow. And New England is NG starved as it is. What NG we do have comes in from......Russia....into Boston Harbor.

It's true that driving the Buick, at least on a smooth road, I often feel as though I'm going 20 mph less than the speedometer reads. But in fog or heavy rain, or when the rain first begins and the road is slippery, I make a conscious effort to slow down. "Conscious" being the operative word. I suspect that some of these drivers here were sipping coffee, fiddling with the radio or their phones, and BANG!

where I used to live was noted for the dreaded Tule Fog. I've seen that fog so dense one can barely make out the line along the edge of the road. In that same fog, I've seen someone come barreling out of it at 65mph. It isn't that the fog is so dense; it's the dense drivers who are the problem.

The first action you should take in dense fog and heavy rain is turn on your emergency flashers. Then slow down. The emergency flashers are more visible than your tail lights at the same distance. Reaction of most drivers upon seeing the flashers is to slow down.

258 Most likely a contributing factor to the hesitant Israeli movement is the issue with gear. I've been looking into getting them material for their defense forces, and the issue of no SAPI plates has come up.

Israel rejected a shipment of plates that had components sourced from China, and after testing determined they were sub-standard (shocking, I know). This set them back substantially, as reserves would not have the protection desired. Sourcing plates has been difficult, as few companies have any in reserve stock. It's a global issue.

290 Obama has given us one of those rare opportunities to see the original of the orders the White House is executing. It's not often that our real Commander in Chief tells us his thoughts. One of those thoughts is that the Hamas-reported casualties in Gaza are to be trusted and not verified. Another, not to be ignored by his powerful minions, is that we should read the Leftist propaganda pieces he lists at the end of his essay (ie, his statement of the Party Line). One is Thomas Friedman's recent NY Times entry. Therein one finds this beauty: "Israel is run by a government [viz. Netanyahu's right-wing coalition] that thinks, and acts, as if it can justifiably exact its revenge on Hamas while unjustifiably building an apartheidlike society run by Jewish supremacists in the West Bank." He is also at pains to give the leaders of Hezbollah and Iran great credit for their restraint so far in face of Israeli provocations. His thesis is that Israel does not have the moral authority to invade Gaza and can only acquire it by surrendering enough to terrorists to get a "two-state solution." The guy is a reverse weather vane, both in morality and in politics.

My fear is that Israel may not currently have the resources and preparedness necessary to conduct protracted, grueling, building-by-building urban warfare. - Especially if Joke Biden yanks away US support and aid. That fear of mine is _mostly_ conjecture; and I sure want it to be wrong. Unfortunately, it seems like the best explanation as to why Israel is unwilling to send in ground forces in a fully committed campaign.
