Marijuana is toxic to many pets, dogs included, according to the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Exposure to THC can have seemingly harmless effects on dogs, but it can also cause aggression, as well as restlessness, fast heart rate and a variety of other symptoms. "The whole point is there's not any warning labels. You hear all about chocolate, you hear all about grapes and raisins," FitzGerald said. "Nowhere does it say, 'Hey, you know what, THC and dogs don't mix.'" How THC could affect one dog is different than how it might affect another, FitzGerald said. It's not a chance worth taking. "You don't know what you're going to get. What it comes down to is they should be kept securely away from pets and kids," she said. "Unless your vet says it's OK to give something to your pet, don't do it."And no magic mushrooms for airline pilots, either. This is Tiny Tim, an 11 year old Rottweiler. He was a stray and staying at the animal shelter for several months before we took him. He has a permanent case of diarrhea much to our dismay. However after a visit they determined he has IBS and will be on a special diet. I haven't met this little fella yet but am hoping to next week.He looks hopeful for a better life. If his new diet helps, maybe you'll get to see him smile when you meet him. Hello Katy, a couple of topical pictures taken last weekend in Corsicana; Butterflies! That Janus dog is something.
Now that hawk is a brilliant study of motion and reflex actions. I don't think it is actually concentrating on its body and wing muscles but instead it's all automagic. Much like we aren't aware of all the tiny muscle movements that keep us standing on two feet UNTIL old age comes along and my balance is shot!! Then I realize just how much went on in the background. Precious had a nasty kidney infection (not unusual in a 15 year old dog) and today we found out the antibiotics completely cleared it up. We had to grind the pills up and mix it with her food since there was no way in hell to get the pills in her mouth. It's an understatement to say she resisted the process.
Since we got her a few months ago, she has been learning our day to day ways. And teaching us some of hers. Specifically, she knows the smell of hot buttered popcorn and what that portends for her. She shows interest whenever we are cooking meat. Making vegetable soup leaves her uninterested. Posted by: JTB at October 28, 2023 03:49 PM (7EjX1) 18

We used to let the cats out when we had 4-5. We lost at least 3 to vehicles, possibly more that disappeared and we never found, so we stopped letting them out. Unfortunately there are people that will deliberately run over a cat if given the chance. What is mind boggling is that some of those people would never dream of doing the same to a small dog. I have seen them steer towards a cat until they spotted me.

Had a dog that I thought was part Ridgeback. Smart, loyal, loved kids, and not as a snack. Absolutely psychotic about any other animal. Would even jump and snap at birds flying overhead. It's true, cats who are outdoor cats don't enjoy long life, and are often the victims of predators and even sadists.
I once had a cat that I let outside and it came home horribly maimed by something or other. Vet bills damn near broke me. Ever since I only let my cats out in my enclosed yard under my supervision. I had two cats deliberately run over. One was off at the side of the road. But now I have Mr Trouble, the in and out cat. It rained earlier in the week and he surprised me by rushing on when I opened the door. I fed him, he checked the house out a bit and was ready to go back out. Last night, I took Jake out for last call and he came in with us. He scares Jake so I took Jake into the bedroom with me and closed the door. Got up later to check on Troubles. He was sprawled across this foam bed I had for Jake. But he was ready to go back out into the cold so I let him out.
I also discovered that he hides out between my potted roses, under the frost protective cover. I'm sure he has hidey holes all over the neighborhood. Posted by: Notsothoreau at October 28, 2023 04:22 PM (cLWyk) 36

Afternoon, all,
I gotta say that top meme with the two cats at Halloween is dead on. Miss Linda plots every year to dress up the cats, hers or mine, in outfits for a quick photo session. I keep my fingers crossed that my kitties stay back here, way far from the road, which is at least 600 ft away. They have access to all the critters they could possibly want to hunt, and woods behind the house. You just never know.
Of course, there's a new development on the road around the corner, and that's disturbing the coyotes over there. I hate those things. My next door neighbors have a house they have to sell because their parents died. It is a marvelous big house that was originally a barn and it comes with six and a half acres and it is in a small town in East Tennessee, very conservative country Folk. Dunlap. If you were looking for a place in the mountains to raise kids where the dogs can and the kids can run free and the school system is still clean and wholesome, this could be your Landing place. Little guys must have high powered transmitters if they need corona balls at the ends of their antennas. I've known ever since watching The Attack of the Crab Monsters several times in my youth, that critters with antennae are telepathic - and always attempting to use their telepathy to recruit hapless victims. Cockroaches and palmetto bugs are especially energetic in this regard - obviously, as their antennae are constantly moving while they cycle through the transmission frequencies. For some reason, I've never regarded butterflies or moths as a threat. Must update the threat matrix.
